I've been in a 2022 Outback for 2 months. MY BIGGEST complaints right from the start are those tiny fan speed buttons and the heated seat option taking you to a second level menu. I feel the new infotainment system is a distraction in relation to those tiny buttons and other points of the lousy digital layout. I came to Google today to search for the new 2023 and its layout, to see if Subaru realized their layout was awful and hopefully see some improvements. Also, to see if anyone could tell me if I'll eventually be able to update my 2022 to the 2023's infotainment digital layout.
I was happy to find your video that showed me all the changes/upgrades/improvements AND you informed me that YES! I can update my screen! Thank you for this video!

Update as of 3/22/23: An update was just released a few days ago! I've had a few people reach out to let me know it's possible and they have completed the latest update to include the new hvac controls as well as a new AVH button that is easily accessible on the home screen. I'll make an update video soon covering the details and how to go about doing this!

Earlier today I was complaining about the lack of acceleration power in my 2020 Forester. I ended up looking at 3 of your videos on the new 2023 Outback, called my dealer, & I will be getting my new Outback XT the first of December. Thank you for making things simple enough that even I can understand and appreciate everything the new Outback has to offer. Urabus.

Gosh, I know the Outback is your personal favorite, but I wish you would have dedicated videos for the 2023 Forester. We just traded in a very, very old Ford Escape for the 2923 Forester and we’re lost! So many gadgets and screens. Oh, and we’re seniors, so that may be why we’re having difficulty adapting. 😊

Hi Alex, very thorough video as usual. Gotta say, I do wish Subaru would ditch the shiny piano black infotainment bezel. At night it’s fine but in the sunlight all you see is a screen full of greasy fingerprints and smudges covered with a layer of dust.

6/2023 -- Thank you ** SO ** very much for your Subaru Outback videos! They are extremely helpful for me -- going from a 15+ year old car {ie -- 'old' technology} light years forward into my brand new 2024 Outback -- the technological differences are almost overwhelming! I ordered a 2023 Subaru Outback Limited with the Option package in part because of the interesting and informative videos you have prepared regarding the special features of the newest Subaru. My new car has arrived and was not under the Subaru of America hold fortunately. The salesperson sat with me for about one hour introducing me to the info system and setting up my StarLink system. Needless to say perhaps, but though informative, the amount of information was overwhelming. The various manuals would take a huge amount of time to digest and fully understand. The information you have provided in this video is greatly appreciated and I certainly hope your new 2023 is soon released from the hold. I look forward to your future videos regarding making use of the features of this vehicle. I assume the infotainment touch screen on the 2023 has many similarities to the 2020-2022 models and perhaps you have already produced videos on this touch screen that can help me navigate this powerful though unknow world to the right of my steering wheel. To use the advantages of this electronic workhorse, I must understand what I am doing and at this point I am rather in a fog. And I thank you for the work you have done to help so many of us Subaru drivers.

We bought the 2022 and I have to say, in my opinion that the 2022 is better looking then the 2023. We don't like the beefy wheel cladding. Plus I know that the info system is wireless android and apple play, it really doesn't make that much of a matter in the long run as long as they work. Please, this has NO impact on your videos. this is about the biggest im comfortable with having of an infotainment in my car.
the graphic design still looks so 2011 despite incremental improvements in software lag and features. i don't get why a phone for example costs $500 and still is far easier to use, customize, etc. and has better hardware underneath than the head unit in $50,000 new cars.
take that AC adjustment for example.. if it's going to be used while driving, the LEAST they could do is make it a slider. think like the brightness adjustment on your phone.

YUP! My 2022 OBW has an empty space to the right of the HOME button. Its the perfect spot for the AVH button to go! Every time I start the car I have to go into the settings to turn "Auto Start/Stop" OFF and "AVH" ON, such a pain!

Alex, is the touch screen more responsive? I received an update notice to improve it, did the update but noticed no positive difference in the responsiveness. I find this so annoying that I am considering a different car. I have no problem with my Forester’s touchscreen.

    Hi Alex a few comments
    a) how come in the US you got those 2023 Outback in stock and here in Canada we just expect them in December? Gave my deposit last May for a 2023 Outback Touring
    b) That new cladding in the front/side looks fugly and will only pick up ice, snow, sleet and impact the aerodynamics.
    c) With the raised interest rates they don’t look so attractive anymore.

Hi Alex, great video as always, Do you know if there will be a dealer upgrade available(paid ofrcourse) for anyone with wilderness 22? to get the wireless added? I assume it is just an extra part in the infotainment and not and entire replacement.

I should have added, I was alerted by Subaru of this update. I assumed it was the update that you (Alex) was talking about. No noticeable changes. Is there an additional update coming with the changes highlighted in this video?
FWIW - you do great videos, thank you the effort.

Another great video Alex. Nice to see the updates on the Outback, especially the Infotainment system. I recently had my 2017 Forester in for service and my dealer gave me a 2021 Outback as a loaner. I loved the car, but HATED the Infotainment system. It's nice to see that Suburu listened to their customers. Did they fix the "delay" issue on the touch screen. That too was very annoying. Love your Channel. George in FL.

Coming from a 2011 pre-"infotainment center" Outback, this info will be useful when I get a new one. Thank you! Wireless charging pad question: if you have 2 phones, ex: yours and your spouses, sync'd to CarPlay, and then have one phone on the charging pad and one phone connected with a cable, which phone (both?) will control CarPlay?

Hi Alex, First of all thank you for the great videos. My Outback is due for it's 18,000 service and other then oil and filter our local dealer recommends a front and rear differential service for $192.81. I don't know what this entails or if it's even necessary? thoughts?

Will be available for 2020-2022. As far as I know, the wireless CarPlay will be the only feature not on the previous years

I have a new 2023 Outback which I love but I expected my car to have the same sport mode switch that other models have. Yet it does not seem to have this even though it is mentioned in some parts of the owner manual. Why did Subaru drop the SI/S/#S switch on the 2023 outback ? I am not a lead foot but there are times when it is good to have a power boost. Is there another way to get more acceleration response for tight passing ?

I am wondering why the lights above the console do not illuminate the bottom of the touch screen area. Just where the cup holders are. I have to wear my headlamp to find stuff in my car. Is there a backlight , I don’t know about?

I was just told by my sales person that even if our car comes in this week that due to a software bug in the emergency/911 system built into the outback/legacy they can't release it until patched, have you heard about this? He said it effects the 2023 outback and legacy only.

    • @alexpmo
      @alexpmo  2 ปีที่แล้ว

yes, this has affected all 2023 Outback/Legacy except for the base trim due to am issue with the SOS button. Subaru expects to have a fix for this soon.

Hi Alex, got my OB Touring 2023 Canadian edition for a month and a half now and the infotainment system is so slow with lots of lag, can’t believe that Subaru shortchanged customers by installing a slow processor. Lately it went dead on me and had to take it back to the dealership and they had to force a new firmware due to multiple errors reported in the dash and on Mysubaru app. Let’s say that all safely features were off or not available while the infotainment system was dead.
