What I wish I knew before I bought the E25 Sole eliptical. The most frustrating thing is the eliptical does not turn on when you move the pedals. You have to touch the start button. 😢 Buyers remorse.
Hi there...would you know if the E25 will be good for a basement height of slightly more that 7 feet? Our basement height is 84 inches. Congratulations on an excellent review. Any recommendations for low ceiling heights would be fantastic. Thanks!
We recommend having 3 feet of clearance overhead to account for the height of the incline and pedals. You'll be okay with 32" of clearance, but we round up for safety. Measure your tallest user and then add three feet to determine if that's enough room.
I short legs and I am wondering if the stride is too long? Also someone in my household is short. We are having issues finding a machine that isn't made for someone that is 6 foot 5.
Hello, could I ask you about the wheels on the roller bar please? Just purchased this machine but there was a noise like something was loose going around inside. The engineer came down and made some adjustments and the noise is gone but he advised the arm should be replaced that the left wheel is gliding along the runner bar but the right one isn’t and is only connecting with the bar at the end. I’d imagine this isn’t how it’s meant to be the fact the engineer advised it should be replaced. Would you be able to advise me please. Thanks in advance.
Thank you for doing this review! I want to buy Sole E35, but is not available in my country. Now, I am opting for E25 and not E95 as E95 is a bit costlier. Is the pedal adjustment feature in E35/E95 something important and cannot be ignored? Can I use E25 without the pedal adjustment feature? FYI - I have knee issues due to weight gain.
I'm not sure if you've used an elliptical before - but one thing I notice is after a while my toes go numb because you never lift your foot off the pedal. The pedal adjustment feature allows you to adjust the angle of the pedal to reduce the risk of numb toes. If you don't have that problem, then it's not overly important and you can probably skip it without an issue.
Thank you for the review! We are considering this machine, but we have a low ceiling. You said that the step-up height is 14 inches. Do you know the maximum height of the pedals when the unit is at its highest inclination level? Thank you!
Both machines are great but the Bowflex M6 is going to give you a little bit more of a workout, whereas this Sole elliptical is going to be more of just your standard elliptical. Let us know if you have any follow up questions.
Thank you so much for such an informative review! I am having a hard time deciding between Sole E25 and Horizon 7.0 AE (which are the only ones around $1000 that have demos in my area). Could you give me your advice on that? (which do you recommend more and why?) Only thing I don't like about E25 is the button area of the handles. I am 5'7'' and when I hold the handles without thinking, my hands are usually right on that square thing, which annoys me. Nobody else including you is talking about that during reviews. It wasn't your issue at all? I am holding too high up? Look forward to hearing from you! Thank you!
I recognize the issue you are referring to - the button panel is on the top segment of the arc in the handles. I naturally hold lower below the box when I'm using the E25, so I haven't noticed that issue. The only way to eliminate that problem would be to remove the buttons completely since everyone is going to grab the handles in a slightly different place. It sounds trite, but we recommend just holding a bit lower on the handles, or using the outside curved upright bar rather than the inside one.
Is this a pretty durable brand? I’ve gone through three nordictracks, one spirit and both brands gave me issues with clunking. Wondering how sole is as a brand and how often maintenance is needed and for what! Could use some honest feedback please!
We've found Sole to be one of the more durable brands. It offers a full lifetime warranty on the motor and deck. Sole has a reputation for being simple and sturdy.
It is an excellent machine and built to last. It must be assembled correctly and use plenty of Super Lube grease except on the rollers where it is used sparingly. It has to be leveled and performs best on a hard surface. If you're on carpet all ellipticals will most likely squeak or clunk because the carpet gives. If you use a mat on a carpet it gets even worse. Tighten every screw and nut you can find during assembly to avoid squeaks. Sometimes the factory doesn't get them all tight. Sole is much better at answering the phone than Nordic track or any Icon product. Icon has the worst CS and it is legendary. Take advantage of the 30 day return policy if you are not happy. You do not have to take it apart. The shipping company picks it up assembled and there is no return shipping charge. Nobody else offers that return policy, nobody!
@@rktaylor51 I don't know, don't remember what the differences were, exactly. Except for the wheel is heavier on the 95. I love the machine, it's solid. My only complaint is that the foot pads seem to have an air bubble in both so there is a snapping or popping sound and feel with each stride.
@@jaxQuiXRP The two differences that I’ve seen on their website is the E98 has a bigger screen and has a longer stride… Have you contacted SOLE to see if they would replace the foot pads?
The one thing I think that could be improved in your videos is when you're describing the consoles. It seems consistent that the person filming is done at an angle from it and we see you point out what the features are, but nobody can actually see the screen and see what you're talking about. It might be useful to have video (or at least a pic to show as you're describing it). I've watched several of your videos and you seem to be consistently pointing out things on the console screen we can't actually see in the video. Even an over-the-shoulder view would be much better.
Thank you for the feedback. Sometimes the glare that comes off the screen is such that we have to film from an angle to get as much of the console as possible without the screen reflecting too much light. It's a tricky shot for sure. We'll try to adjust the angle for improved visibility in the future. Thanks for watching!
@@TreadmillReviewGuru Hmm. I guess I hadn't thought of glare, but surely some filter can cut down on this? I just know from the long angle that the screen just shows as white and I can't tell what you're looking at. Thanks for the reply. :)
Not very different, it's just a little bit smaller footprint and a little bit different handlebars, other than that they are pretty much the same machine.
@@TreadmillReviewGuru Thanks. I think it is weird that the e35 is so much longer even though they both have a 20 inch stride. I noticed that you put the resistance all the way up and your still able to actually do it. It seems like the resistance is not that strong. What do you think about that? Thanks!
@@leaundraeshepherd9170 The resistance is definitely strong and noticeable when it's turned up all the way to the highest level. If you're using your arms and your legs you can power through the highest resistance pretty simply. If you want to focus more on upper or lower body you can use less legs or less arms to try and get a better workout. Combining the resistance with incline will also help provide more resistance for your workout. I hope this helps a little bit, let me know if you have any follow up questions.
I may have missed it but does it have the option of turning off the movement of the arm handles? Sometimes its nice to just use the foot pedals and not engage upper body but having the moving handles when you aren’t using them can be annoying. Also anyone here in the comments who owns the machine, can you vouch for the quiet? Does it run the risk of disturbing neighbors who live on the floor below in an apartment building from vibrations or thuds? No the handles are connected to the pedals, so they both move together. But you can remove your hands from the moving handles and just move your feet if you'd like
I’m looking into buying this used, is there a way to check how many hours or miles it’s been used like how you check the miles when you buy a used car???
I have a Sole E25. I have had it since February 2017. Mine keeps track of my miles and the number of workouts done on the elliptical. Mine shows mile and amount of workouts when I first turn on the elliptical on the top left of the screen. The only thing is several times I did not save my workouts properly so it didn’t add to my mileage and workouts. I have done about 500 workouts and 1500 miles on my elliptical. I do think the miles on mine run long compared to ellipticals that I have been on in the gym or fitness centers. I am looking to add another higher level elliptical. I used my elliptical more for cross training with my running.
The assembly on an elliptical is a bit more challenging than a treadmill. But it can be done by two people in a few hours. The instructions are clear and helpful.
That's what I'm wondering too. The extra handles are what draws me to the e35. Also, the adjustable foot pedals might make a difference as well. I really just want the extra handles. I wish I could just pay Sole an extra $100 to send me those handles. But I know it doesn't work like that lol
I just bought the E25, I was about to pull the trigger on the E35 but didn’t see the need for the extra $500. Glad I went with the cheaper one. Ps. The instructions that they come with are horrible. Had to use youtube videos for help on setting up
@@andresfregoso5193 I bought the E35. So glad I went with it in hindsight. The extra handle bars really make a huge difference. The construction is higher quality as well. The adjustable foot pedals are useful too. Good luck guys.
Delivery and assembly options are limited based on Covid restrictions in some areas. We recommend contacting Sole directly as your options may be dependent on where you live.
They feel similar, but the E35 is heavier and sturdier. The tubing for the handlebars and uprights is thicker and heavier as well. They are both great ellipticals but the E35 is a step up for quality and stability.
@@TreadmillReviewGuru Could you please tell me if I'd get a better work out from the 35 due to its length and possible longer range of motion? I have a small living room and am leaning toward the 25 but I'm willing to take on a little claustrophobia if I can get in better shape.
Now in 2024 You can actually get rid of the beeping sound which use to happened every time you push any button (you have to use Engineering Mode by pressing Stop Start and Enter at the same time for 5 sec)
@@brookspalmer6564 As far as ellipticals go these are pretty straight forward and will get the job done at an affordable price. We've tested a few of the NordicTrack's ellipticals and they are very solid and sturdy with added tech and iFit capability. Those are worth checking out if you're interested in additional tech in the machine.
The lowest height of the pedal is 14” plus your 72” would put you at 86”, so I don’t think this would be the best model for you. I’d find something with a lower step-up height, or go with a treadmill.
The pedals are way too far apart. There are many negative Amazon reviews about Sole elliptical dangers including railings breaking, and wheels coming off tracks while in use.
Don't buy it. Loud Beeps constantly - no mute. Screen so bright, you need to cover it up as there isn't a way to dim. Hard to put together. Annoying piece of equipment.

How much head room is needed for this model. I have low ceiling in the basement (7 feet) and I'm 6 feet tall. Want to make sure it'll fit.
I don’t think it will
installation. how easy or hard it is??
The assembly on an elliptical is a bit more challenging than a treadmill. But it can be done by two people in a few hours. The instructions are clear and helpful.
do you need electricity to be on to use the machine?
Yes
Can my 11.7” tablet fit?
I'm worried about accidentally hitting the buttons on the rotating handlebars, especially when I'm going really fast. Has this been a problem?
Not really. The buttons are all the way at the end of the handlebars, so we haven't had that problem
Is it really worth the extra $500 for the e35? Hard to see why 🤔
That's what I'm wondering too. The extra handles are what draws me to the e35. Also, the adjustable foot pedals might make a difference as well. I really just want the extra handles. I wish I could just pay Sole an extra $100 to send me those handles. But I know it doesn't work like that lol
I'm in the same boat gentleman. I'm thinking 500 dollars man not be worth it? I don't understand the point of the adjustable foot pedals either?
I just bought the E25, I was about to pull the trigger on the E35 but didn’t see the need for the extra $500. Glad I went with the cheaper one. Ps. The instructions that they come with are horrible. Had to use youtube videos for help on setting up
@@andresfregoso5193 I bought the E35. So glad I went with it in hindsight. The extra handle bars really make a huge difference. The construction is higher quality as well. The adjustable foot pedals are useful too. Good luck guys.
Do they have an option to get it delivered and assembled?
Delivery and assembly options are limited based on Covid restrictions in some areas. We recommend contacting Sole directly as your options may be dependent on where you live.
What is the maximum pedal height of the Schwinn 470 and/or 430? I have a very low ceiling.
Sorry, we haven't reviewed those bikes, so we don't have a height estimate.
The sole is miles ahead of the schwinns and way more stable. I find the schwinns move side to side more.
I would really love your opinion on feel of 25 vs 35
Great just order it..after watching this review..
Best review in cross trainer category 👌
It seems like the E25 is just as good as the E35. Is that true?
They are essentially the same machine with the E35 having a few upgrades and a larger footprint.
@@TreadmillReviewGuru Thanks for your help! is there an elliptical you would recommend over these?
@@brookspalmer6564 As far as ellipticals go these are pretty straight forward and will get the job done at an affordable price. We've tested a few of the NordicTrack's ellipticals and they are very solid and sturdy with added tech and iFit capability. Those are worth checking out if you're interested in additional tech in the machine.
@@TreadmillReviewGuru Thank you!
Great machine!
My ceiling is 85 in from the floor will this fit with me on it I am 6 foot?
The lowest height of the pedal is 14” plus your 72” would put you at 86”, so I don’t think this would be the best model for you. I’d find something with a lower step-up height, or go with a treadmill.
@@Copper14 OK thank you ffor the reply I might have to cut the sheet rock out a little...
Great review young lady.
The pedals are way too far apart. There are many negative Amazon reviews about
Sole elliptical dangers including railings breaking, and wheels coming off tracks while in use.
400th thumbs up :D
just got one for $200 on facebook marketplace, WHAT A STEAL
I got one the same way for $350.00 that had 11 hours on it.
@@georgeplesa8174 how do you check how many hours or miles it has been used???
Would be nice to actually see how your body moves on it using BOTH HANDS
Love it, just bought one from Dicks....girl has a nice figure, keep on working it..
If You’re reading this, Jesus loves you and died for your sins. Repent because He’ll be coming back soon.-
Don't buy it. Loud Beeps constantly - no mute. Screen so bright, you need to cover it up as there isn't a way to dim. Hard to put together. Annoying piece of equipment.
Excellent review! thank you.
This was incredibly helpful, thank you!
