It's great to see you complimenting a crew. Please send a complimentary letter for her. Being a cabin crew isn't an easy job. Also being an airport staff isn't easy. It sounds easy and people do have an easy perspective of an airline staff. But the job is quite tiring and it isn't as easy as others think/expect.
I don't have a need to fly budget airlines except when I am visiting family in Southeast Asia. Beginning in 2016 I have made multiple trips between KL and Chiang Mai or Phuket, as well as a couple domestic flight between those two Thai cities. I have never had a disappointing experience. The young flight crews have been professional and friendly, but also attentive to safety needs. A special treat for my 12 year old grandson was having a picture taken with three of the crew that were waiting with us at the gate. These three ladies helped make his first Air Asia flight memorable.
Another awesome video, Josh!. The cabin crew on Air Asia is always pleasant, and Jody is definitely a typical example. Kudos to Jody and the crew. 👍🏽👍🏽 Thanks for sharing
I stayed at the Ritz Carlton last year, I loved where it was located and how friendly staff were. I actually love how Malaysia makes everything so cheap and luxurious to us westerners.
Had a 20-day trip mostly Malaysia with a few days in Singapore in early July. Loved it in Malaysia - you can live - as you say - luxuriously, and have hight tea at really fancy hotels cheap! Singapore - nice but I think not as nice as Malaysia. Also a different world in terms of prices.
The luxury we have in KL are comparatively affordable for Malaysians too considering the level of service you receive. As a Malaysian, the same luxury would cost me more in Thailand and Indonesia.
Living in Miri, Sarawak, since 2015, we use AirAsia often (3 or 4 times a year), primarily KUL, but also SIN, DMK, and a few times to TYO. We never ever had WiFi service on any flights. However, we agree that AirAsia crews are among the best (certainly better than all the North American airlines; short flights, long flights, always happy about the inflight service.
Im from miri too...damn my last flight was 3 years ago...and my next flight to KL about 1 week to go..im so nervous... i didnt know why is that anxiety feeling keep bothering me.... im just think about the take off 🤣🤣🤣
Last year we flown Air Asia Philippines for domestic flights, crew is indeed very friendly. The problem we faced was that Air Asia changed every of our flight (that were booked months in advance) to another time with sometimes not even a day notice, for most of our flights it was not a real issue but for the last from Cebu to Manila it was really problematic. Reaching out to their support did not help at all, had to call Air Asia out publicly on twitter to change the flight to an acceptable time for us.
The cost of the meals and upgrades is a massive + on Air Asia too. 16myr is less than £3 or about $4 for Uncle Chins rice. That's about the same cost as a slap in the face on Ryanair..... I've used Air Asia flights 10's of times and never had an issue. Great video as always!
I agree as long as the crew is being treated fair when workers are treated poorly sometimes they can’t just quit and react with less than great service. You do expect great service on a non-discount airline though.
It's great to see AirAsia doing better than a "World Class Airline". It's fantastic to see that AirAsia's food is still as good as before Covid-19 hope AirAsia continues to thrive!
Good report, Josh. Glad you took time to praise the crew for their warm, welcoming behaviors. Nice of you to single out Jody. Good, thorough review, thanks.
Great and thorough review! Crew seems to be really lovely and hopefully get the recognition they deserve. Your summary was also really well put in words. Wholesome!
I have flown between Perth and KL at least 20 times with Air Asia X, great A330’s and an awesome flat bead option. They have always been nothing but excellent. Perth to Bali on A320 has also been great .Some of the coolest cabin crew ever👍
I love air Asia, I've been living in SE Asia for the past 15 months and have had about 16 flights with them. All excellent and only one delayed by only an hour. I'm moving to Sri Lanka next month and they are taking me over too!
I travelled twice on this airline, but believe sardines in a can have more space to move around. Even for low fare there should be leg space for 1m88 person instead of sticking it in the back of the seat in front.
I really enjoy these videos as they are no-nonsense, objective, and entertaining. But I feel as you get more and more well known as someone who does trip reports, more airlines recognize you and give you preferential treatment.
I have mostly flown Air Asia Philippines as well as a couple flights between S Korea and Thailand. I have never had a significant delay which is amazing. It has always been a positive experience, food, service and I always buy the hot seat, 1A! You can't go wrong, at least I haven't so far!
I have flown AirAsia and for a one hour flight from SIN to KUL, for $75, I got a full service experience. Excellent meal, drinks and yes, I paid for free bag, extra room and priority boarding. Simply amazing for what I paid! Crew was excellent! Simply wow!
Have always loved flying Air Asia and the well priced food options. I miss the old LCCT at Kuala Lumpur due to the food hall beside it. It was great for some good food while waiting for a connection.
My favourite food with Air Asia: Pak Nassir's Nasi Lemak (typical Malaysian dish) 😍 But they do have many good food options. Really good value for money. Air Asia never disappointed me either. I'm regularly using them between mainland Malaysia and Sarawak, and it's always a pleasure to be on board! PS: KLIA2 terminal opened in 2014 already. However, it took some years for all the shops & amenities to open.
I flew with Jetstar in July with all the bad I hear about it I was a bit worried. I flew from CNS to DRW and back. I have to say I had zero problems both crews were great. Based on my experience Jetstar gets a bad wrap.
I always fly Air Asia when I stay in Thailand. Bangkok to Chiang Mai, or to KL or into Vietnam. For a budget airliner they sure offer the best service most of the time.
AirAsia just relaunched flights to Auckland and I wanted to do it but the issue is with their limited food selection given I'm a vegetarian and I can't handle spicy food which both their vegetarian meals are. My friend took them a week ago and he said they sell cup noodles on board which I can only eat so much of those before I clog up my stomach. It's a shame they don't offer more options for people with dietary requirements, I would have booked it if that was not the hurdle
I flew AirAsia in their 'business class' - Sydney to Kuala Lumpur for under $700 AUD! After flying first with emirates 7 times, Biz Class with other Airlines, and god knows how many economy flights (budget and legacy). I can hands down say they are the best on a cost VS product basis- and so much so, I bought one of their plastic A330-300s onboard. They have so got it right! Other Airlines, including the top Airlines could learn a thing to two from AA.
I flew on Air Asia for domestic route all the time it was a great experience. And last time I tried Uncle Chin's Chicken Rice it turns out very delicious with great service. I like the song they played on their airplane when boarding also.
Best way to summarise AirAsia is that everything is done ala-carte. If you want something extra, just pay for it. But you always get what you pay for and it is usually already cheap enough.
Vielen Dank für deine tolle Review. Du machst wirklich einen hervorragenden Job. Freue mich schon, wenn ich demnächst zum ersten Mal Air Asia Philippines fliegen werde.
I flew to Taiwan from Thailand last week, it was amazing, they've improved so much, not AirAsia I remembered from early 2010s. (Last time I flew was that long ago). I had someone sitting in my pre-selected seat , I was trying to talk that person to move, and a cabin crew stepped in immediately and explained that person to move without a conflict. And yea, food was amazing, I thought they'll go under with covid, but I was wrong, they are back and better than ever.
I have to disagree with your comments about Qatar staff. If they aren't getting the rest periods they need, because the airline is demanding they work, work, work (as many commenters did, even going incognito to do so) then they can never be at their best - they'll be tired and tiredness makes you grumpy, emotional and careless. It may not be a simple matter of leaving if they're not happy. Many of them have families who rely on their continued earnings and if they're being worked so hard it may be hard to find any time to search for another job. In addition, do we know if they'll be given sufficient references for that new job? I think this is probably something that's widespread and maybe filters down from a CEO who appears uncaring of the staff as a whole. Your points are fine if they're being treated well, but the workers who commented on your last video makes me think they're really not.
Cockpit crew training has shown some weaknesses in the past. The website is also clear and concise. Luggage and food are clearly displayed. I would love to fly to Germany with this nice crew!
Only cabin crew know and understand what goes on behind the scenes. I would not fly air Asia as I’m it sure about their training in emergency procedures. Josh..go,for a job as cabin crew..then you will understand
I always fly Air Asia when flying around Asia. Great Airline! I don't even know Jody but I am so happy for her! I hope Tony sees this video and sends her a personal thanks for her great work! Once again thanks for another exciting video.
Josh Air Asia looked very nice flight experience great to see with a budget airline. I’m looking forward to your China trip going in your past experiences.😃
Very interesting review Josh, thank you. I had a lot of problems trying to book Air Asia online from outside Malaysia the last time I tried to use them, so I hope that's been improved or simplified. How did one passenger try to claim the emergency row during rotation? Surely she can't demand the whole row to herself? On an absolutely different subject, I see your trusty check-in suitcase is going strong! What brand or model is it? Airlines seem to destroy luggage very effectively nowadays.
It's one of the few airlines that survived by diversifying during the pandemic. My favourite meal was Chicken Bolognese ( which has sadly disappeared ). Maybe I have been away a while but where has all the AirAsia FaceBook activity gone. It's like a ghost town.
Recently flew AirAsia from DAD to CNX with wife and 4 yr old. Good flight experience. On time, reasonably comfortable for budget airline. Good food and choices. My only beef is their online reservation system. extremely clunky, kept crashing, and when I eventually did manage to make a booking, it refused my US credit card. I called my bank and they removed all “security blocks” on the card and it still was not accepted. I eventually had to make the booking through a third party online agent which accepted the card no problem.
Well they change a flight from 2 flights to 4 fights and when I refuse to accept their new flights they said it would take 3 months to process a refund.. but I have heard people waiting 3 years due to COVID and even longer.. what a disgrace airline .and don't get me started on their AI Customer Service App.. I have ended up getting my bank involved in the process of doing a chargeback that includes extra fees with the process which they have to pay.. under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act here in the UK..
What I like the most in Air Asia flight is the food. Purchase online even cheaper. Flying with Air Asia actually you got what you paying for. Seat, baggage, F&B, and even red carpet before flight. One the best LCC flight in the world
As mentioned in reply to a fellow commentors AA is okay except for 2 things 1. Irrops situation 2. Payment issue when booking via the local AA super app Negative aspect aside, if you are travelling to Kyushu region from Bangkok I reccomend the FD 236/736 DMK-FUK flight. Since the flight depart from Don Muaeng at 11:30 ish PM (the old airport that is focus on LCC domestic flight) Pasport and Security queue are very short comapring to BKK aka Suvanabhumi airport I'm not recommending the return flight which depart from FUK airport ver early lol.
Air Asia was good on my recent flight from bkk to Krabi. Only one hour yes , but it went smoothly , checked in online so at airport was a breeze , coming back was the same. Quick & efficient , boarding & disembarking was very swift. Will use them again .. 😊
You remember when the Petronas towers were the biggest? Last time I was in Kuala Lumpur they hadn't been built! (And yes, I love Air Asia too - the crew are the best there is)
Hello josh & thank you for all your content. I love your videos & thank you so much for saying how lovely Jodi was on your recent flight with air Asia. I’ve been a flight attendant for 27 years for a much loved airline in the uk & we can get missed out a bit. Generally our customers are absolutely lovely & say we will email in to say how wonderful you’ve all been, but nothing ever comes of it. So for you to say that about that crew member made me smile. So thank you . Hope to see you on one of my flights one day 👍👍
Brilliant review Josh, i took same flight in other direction about a month back to Colombo. Always a solid experience AA relative to the starting expectation of course I’ve found! As a pioneer of the LCC model they very much have the business model tried and tested and do a good job at executing it with pace and efficiency, delivered everything i paid for with a good friendly attitude and the flight got away and landed on time. Food is great and everything on the menu is quite affordable. Exit row seat for around an extra $15 turned out to be an excellent decision on the flight and ended up with whole exit row to myself on a pretty empty flight anyway! If i had to resort to nitpicking wasn’t a fan of the hefty credit card fees but oh well i guess they gotta to make/ recoup money somehow!
I vote for Cebu Pacific, mostly because I'm biased having a Filipina wife so been flying them for almost two decades. Air Asia is pretty nice too as well as Lion Air.
At the end of the day you are right, as crew whether we like it or not we do have the choice to quit unfortunately finding something else may or may not be difficult but the passengers must get what they paid for.
As a long distance LCC (over 4 hours) Scoot generally shades Air Asia but they're close. Under 4 hours and no one in the seat next to you like you had LCC's are the way to go. AA try to turn their planes around quickly. Keeps prices down but as the day goes on delays become more likely.
I always fly airasia when I go to SEA. The food is actually soo good! I got the plant based prad ka prow and it was really spicy - I love how they didn't make it bland for a western palette
In August we flew Singapore to Phuket, to KL, to Kuching, and back to Singapore over a period of 10 days with Air Asia. Despite all flights being completely full, we had no problems, no delays, pleasant staff, and clean cabins and toilets. Great experience and good value for money. I'm now considering booking their lie flat seats for a flight next year from Auckland to KL.
We always consider AirAsia when flying across SE Asia. Been a fan of this airline for decades...It indeed is a mindblowing low-cost airline & always live upto its reputation & tag. :)
Thank you for your service, sadly my wife can no longer travel. So I travel with you on U tube. When people see you enjoy your job success will follow. When success comes money follows. Thank you once again. I really enjoyed being a Capetown tour guide before I retired.
i assume airasia kept their a320 up to 20 years of service since a lot of my previous flight with them consist of plane age 15 up to below 20 years old. a lot of old a320 are with airasia indonesia and most of the new one joined airasia malaysia.
Probably or cycle them around the AirAsia brand, no reason to replace and from a passenger perspective a 20 year old a320 with a fresh cabin looks brand new.
scoot could learn a lot from air asia as far as food go's but my biggest complaints about both of them is they dont fly from the gold coast anymore and there fares have gone up enormously very disappointing.
@@epay85 yes thanks for correction but dose anyone really want to pay $319 one way to Kuala Lumpur.?.. thats almost double the price it was 2 years ago seems a bit rich to me.

One the best LCC flight in the world
Hi Josh, really looking forward to your new videos about comac in the future! So happy to met you in the airport yesterday!❤
As mentioned in reply to a fellow commentors AA is okay except for 2 things
1. Irrops situation
2. Payment issue when booking via the local AA super app
Negative aspect aside, if you are travelling to Kyushu region from Bangkok I reccomend the FD 236/736 DMK-FUK flight.
Since the flight depart from Don Muaeng at 11:30 ish PM (the old airport that is focus on LCC domestic flight) Pasport and Security queue are very short comapring to BKK aka Suvanabhumi airport
I'm not recommending the return flight which depart from FUK airport ver early lol.
Another amazing video by Vennila purushaan buntong flat 😮 plus uncle Chin again
Air Asia was good on my recent flight from bkk to Krabi. Only one hour yes , but it went smoothly , checked in online so at airport was a breeze , coming back was the same. Quick & efficient , boarding & disembarking was very swift. Will use them again .. 😊
Air Asia for sure
Amazing video as always.
Hope to see you on one of my flights one day 👍👍
Living in KL a few years ago, I found the train to be the best option from the airport into town. Great review!
Superb! Even I prefer Air Asia only when it comes to Budget Carriers.
I flew AirAsia KL to Penang years ago and it was a unremarkably great flight.
Good on you, Josh
At the end of the day you are right, as crew whether we like it or not we do have the choice to quit unfortunately finding something else may or may not be difficult but the passengers must get what they paid for.
Guter Report, wie alle! Thx
9:42, KLIA2 open 9 years ago, which is fall of 2014.
2018 and 2019 i fly to korea and having lemang and rendang in Air asia. seriously so nice. but i can't find it anymore in their menu's 😢
I always fly airasia when I go to SEA. The food is actually soo good! I got the plant based prad ka prow and it was really spicy - I love how they didn't make it bland for a western palette
Omg you’re honestly a beautiful soul
Employees at QR are treated as a number not a person. I know this from my own experience and have many stories.
Please tell us.
You got me all mixed up what day it was with this midweek drop😆
Another great review!
Any employer with someone like Jody is extremely fortunate. I hope any watcher of this post that comes across Jody acknowledges her.
i assume airasia kept their a320 up to 20 years of service since a lot of my previous flight with them consist of plane age 15 up to below 20 years old. a lot of old a320 are with airasia indonesia and most of the new one joined airasia malaysia.
Great vid, Josh. I only wish every one respected their job description, that would make the world a better place.
I am glad to see the experience with Air Asia was good
Hi josh, I would recomend you to Fly TransNusa on their ARJ71-200. It is the only one ARJ which is operating outside china and only owned by TransNusa Indonesia. Glad to see your Video on it 😊😊
Josh please go here in the Philippines in December 7, 2023 and try the Cebu Pacific newest route and they will be having an inaugural flight from Manila to Da Nang, Vietnam!
