  • What's up guys?! I tried out the FX Loop on the Line 6 POD HD500x. I can't believe I've never used it before. It's a great way to incorporate unique stompboxes into your signal chain. In this video I patch in a Walrus Audio Descent Reverb and a Keisman Midnight Drive to the FX Loop on my 500x.

    I have the PODHD500X and using pedals in the effects loop is way cool. Glad you did a video on that subject. Thanks

    Hey, I have bought a Mooer Radar cab simulator pedal and use it with POD fx loop. Now I can use POD with impulse responses that make POD sound way more natural and better. I don't use stock cabs at all

      I think you can disable stock cabs and use the radar after the output of the pod, so you have an extra slot for effects if not using the fx loop

    If you put effects loop block at end of chain, set it to 100°/° mix, 0 return, send assigned to expression pedal for volume control, you can use this send as a separate output to a mixer and no sound will bleed out of the normal xlrs and 1/4" jacks. Use it on my bass guitar patches. When I hop back on guitar, I still have my stereo guitar guitar patches going out my left and right XLR cables to the board. Bass has it's own channel at the mixing board. Mono signal. Haven't bothered trying a TRS cable for a stereo send out of the effects send jack for the bass patches but I would think that's possible also.

      I suppose if you wanted to get creative, you can set your input on the pod hd500x to aux in and guitar in or microphone in and then create a patch hard panned left and right with separate block paths for each input device. Then you would put the effects loop block at the end of the chain. Using a TRS patch splitter (Y) cable, you could send out the 2 extra input devices to their own inputs on a mixing board. All this set up per patch so you can maintain your guitar input jack and patches. The effects loop can be used in many ways. It can be a solo db booster. It can be put at the front of the chain as a switchable input source using just the effects return jack. Super useful tool as I play multiple instruments.

    Just wanted to say that i figured out something cool on a new way to get a DRY and WET signal simultaneously (using the FX loop). It requires you to own an analog/digital interface like Jon has in other videos. It will use 2 ports of the interface. Method - place an FX block at the front of your chain and set the mix to zero. Then just use 2 leads (1 from FX out and 1 from L/Mono) and plug them into 2 input ports of your interface. One will be a DRY signal . The benefits of this method are - simple to configure each preset. You can still use a full split signal for WET. You can potentially still use 2 amps or stereo effects (using a 3rd cable). . If everyone knows this already, just ignore me.

    Did this for the first time yesterday, with my EHX Synth 9 and C9. The synth stuff of the 500x is fun and all, but the tracking doesn't match the EHX pedals. It was a bit of a "trial by fire" situation, since I was about to play a show, but it worked like a charm. Thanks for making these videos on my favorite modeller, man.

    Nice video and trick if you want to use the FX loop for wet effects... But for distortion and drive pedals why didn't you plug the guitar in the input of the drive/distortion/boost and then in the input of the Line 6 Pod ?....(" Before the Amp")

    Great video! I have a question unrelated to this video that maybe you know the answer to and would be willing to answer. I recently got an RC-500 and I want to use my Pod HD 500 as a midi controller for it. I have it all working... sort of. I have the Pod set to CC toggle as well as the RC500 set to toggle. If I don't have these set to toggle, the CC midi changes do nothing to the RC500. So things are set to toggle. BUT, the parameter on the RC500 ONLY changes when the cc value on the Pod goes from 0 to 127. It DOES NOT turn off the parameter when the CC change goes from 127 to 0. What this means is that I have to press the foot switch twice to make any changes. Once to go from the value of 127 to 0, then again to go from 0 to 127 for it to change the parameter on my RC500. Hopefully this makes sense. I just want to press the footswitch once to change parameter. Any suggestions or ideas why it's behaving like this?
    Thank you for any help you might offer.

    How would you compare the line 6 pod hd500x and the line 6 firehawk fx pedal board? Besides the obvious editing difference between the two. Also has the firehawk fx pedal crossed your mind when you were getting the podhd500x.

    if is possible how i can do it? Thanks bro, I hope you can answer me

  • @DrWepper
    @DrWepper 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for the vids! They’re very uselful for me when I’m trying to sort out which pod I should go for, the pod go or the hd500x.
    How about if I want to use the hd500x only as a pedal board. Can it bypass the amp models and leave the signal as it is? Should I have it in the amplifier’s effects loop or connected directly between the guitar and the amp?

    • @TR-zf6io
      @TR-zf6io 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I can answer this one. I have the PodHD 500 (not x, but they are essentially the same). I use it both as an all in one when I'm doing guritar streams (using the amp models) and as an effects pedal board when I was playing in my band. All you have to do is turn off the amp block with the 500x and it will work as an effects pedalboard only, and will not apply an amp model to your signal. You could also use it in a 4 cable method (just google POD HD500 4 cable method) so you can place your drive effects before your amp, and your modulation, delay reverb effects after your amp if your amp has an fx loop. Alternatively, it works just fine going straight into the front of an amp.

      @@TR-zf6io Thank you! I actually bought the hd500x and have tried multiple different methods, and it seems there is still much more to explore. Next up is trying out the four cable method just the way you described! :)

      @@DrWepper awesome. hope you enjoy it. piece of advice if you want it... I'd recommend spending time becoming familiar with the user interface without plugging it into a computer. While it's certainly easier to set everything up with the computer software, having an understanding of how to do so without it has proven very useful for me.

    • @DrWepper
      @DrWepper 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TR-zf6io That’s true, and so far I’ve spent more time on the pod interface itself at the band rehearsal room than by plugging it in the computer at home.
      The next, often neglected step would be reading the manual... :D But, seriously, there are so many features that cannot be understood without consulting the manual, especially since I’m used to the logic of stomp boxes.

    • @bart413

      You can do it you need to connect: pod fx return to amp fx send and pod output to amp fx return. You connect your guitar directly to the amp. Remember to add the FX block to the virtual patch in 500x
