Jon feels the need to sacrifice himself because he's the "shield that guards the realms of men". He takes that shit seriously lol.
Benjen knew to be there for the same reason he knew to aid Bran and Meera. As he explained to Bran, after being saved by the Children with the shard of dragonglass to the heart, he acquired a connection to the Three-Eyed Raven (Blood Raven, and then Bran). He can be summoned by them. Also, he is technically a wight, though not turned to the NK, so he can't go pass the the Wall, and he can be torn to shreds by the dead, but not turned into a zombie.

The dragon was done for even if Jon had gotten on Drogon. The NK saw an opportunity and that's why he aimed for the riderless dragon already in the air. Unless the dragons can accelerate at jet speed, you can't pin the death on Jon. They had only finished loading up on Drogon at the same moment and it didn't occur to any of them that the NK could take down a dragon.

If we take aside the Aunt/Nephew thing, Jon and Daenerys are a perfect match. Their storylines are beautifully parallered and contrasted in a very poetic way. George RR Martin has said that A Song Of Ice and Fire is essentially Jon and Daenery's story. I hope the "muse" that inspires him gives him a brighter idea on how to write a mutual non-incestual Jonerys in the novels. In a recent update he repeates that he is a gardener writter, meaning his story is changing as he writes it...
I surely hope George gives the characters more justice in the books than what happened in this show… I don’t expect a happy ending, just one that makes sense.

Then, Benjen comes in and saves Bran at the last possible second, and then comes in and saves Jon at the last minute, and sacrificing himself in the process. Bravo, Benjen... and now his watch has ended. Also, the Nights Watch saved Arya, too. Yoren. And Gendry. The Nights Watch are the real MVPs.

You are absolutely not the only one who shipped them. At the time of airing, it was about 50/50. Some people really felt the chemistry and shipped them. Some people thought they had no chemistry. The rest were Jonsa shippers. 🙄

Ive always wondered how they got the chain around the dragon to start with If they cannot come into contact with water?
They cannot come into contact with water and yet are on contact with water all episode. The whole thing is dumb. Why does Cersi need to see a zombie? She has a personal Zombie of her own. Why is there no time to kill Cersei but plenty to go walking beyond the wall? Why are they even afraid the Knight King and the walkers are going to get beyond the wall this time? How were they going to to that before getting a dragon? The wall has stood for 1000 years so what made them fear it would fall. None of this dumbassery makes a lick of sense.
Real reason: Plot
Story reason: I don’t think they get destroyed, the wights just can’t swim so he probably just sent a dozen or so to sink to the bottom, chain up the dragon, and used the rest to pull it up.
@@peters4115 True. It's not as if the Night King isn't above using hundreds of wights as cannon fodder to go underwater to secure the chains. They can't swim, so they're probably stuck down there. They're dead anyhow, and the White Walkers have an unlimited supply of future "recruits", so losing a few is no big deal.
I agree with the above reasons of how they made it to Viserion, also, I want to point out that the chains can come from the wildings, I mean, the Nk has killed thousands of wildings and they had many thing like chains, also, there were giants that can explain why the chains were so big also.
But if the whites can walk under water why didn't they do that to reach the guys on the island? At the end of the day it doesn't really matter it just always made me go hmm

Jon was mid fighting so turning away from a fight they would overwhelm him most likely from the back. Plus he’s a shield while the rest got on lol basically his whole persona
Dont worry, you werent the only one shipping Jon and Dany. Most people rooted for it. We went from season 1 ...yuk incest ... to season 7....yes...incest. Plus Targareans inbreed anyway so its fine lol.

Her dragons are her weapons, like Brienne's is a sword. She had to learn to control them (which we didn't really get to see, but seems to be the case now).
.i remember my heart shattering when the dragon died.
Longclaw’s eyes didn’t open it was water on them. & the plot armor was so real in later seasons people died & didn’t escape impossible situations. Jon bent the knee AFTER Daenerys agreed to help the north but latter lies to the northern lords saying he did it cause they needed allies
Why didn’t he just throw the spear at the dragon sitting on the ground. You kill the dragon and you basically kill everyone on the dragon…
Apparently the soft spot was closed so he went for the “easier” and guaranteed kill first- drogon is tougher skinned and it wasn’t 100% so the rest would flee and he wouldn’t get one…. That’s basically he explanation everyone is using

@@DynamiteProd drogon had his back to him more so, impenetrable hide of a full grown, that’s a fact based on dragon anatomy that we know of- between the wing and underbelly is more so a possibility of a guaranteed kill (organ wise too) so if he threw it at drogon the probability of a kill before he flew off was low. Like said not an easier shot in the sense of throw.
Okay, but this whole thing with the giant chain is silly. Why doesn't the Night King just raise up his hand and the dragon surge up out of the water into the air? Why do they need a chain? I mean, I guess they brought it from the armory in Whitewalker City because they planned this.

I know I'm late but I just wanted to say I love your reactions. Probably my favorite out of everyone. You weren't alone when you said it felt rushed. The writers thought star wars was more important & ruined what could have been such a good payoff. Still love this show though 😊

I feel you on the Jon and Dany thing, but for a different reason. I never really liked those two together. The chemistry didn’t feel like it was there for me and I just felt off about it. Right after I finished the show, I realized that I liked Jon and Sansa and I felt wrong for it.

Emilia and Kit are both beautiful, but they have no chemistry together. Sexual chemistry is not about looks... it's about heat and an energy that comes right through the tv. Like the sexual chemistry of Dany and Khal Drogo. They were super hot. Or Jon and Ygritte. Dany's romance with Daario was simply "meh". And I guess this one is only slightly better.
In real life they have better chemistry than in the show...
@@constantinetranos2225 I've never seen evidence of that. Kit is beautiful, but he's as broody as Jon Snow... very dour and almost sullen. Whereas Emilia is bubbly, sweet, and just a joyful personality. I've seen her on Graham Norton a couple of times and she might be the most adorable human being on the planet.
I agree, i didn’t even hate on this relationship because they were related but because they had no chemistry and also we (the audience) had to keep being told they started liking each other by other characters instead of being shown which i always thought was weird.
