Note that Jim Henson (whom you hear talking over certain scenes) refers to her as "Cheryl". Her full name is Cheryl Gates McFadden, and to distinguish between her choreography and acting work, she is usually credited as Cheryl for the former and Gates for the latter.
I absolutly LOVE Gates McFadden!! She's one of my all time favorite actresses, and she's so nice to her fans, too. I met her a couple of years ago at a convention, and she was such a sweetheart! She took the time to talk to me and get to know me, and let me take the time to ask her some questions I'd been dying to ask. She's such an awesome woman, and I hope I can go to the next Star Trek Convention so I can talk with again! (And Brent Spiner, because he's awesome, too!) :)
Movies back then must have been so much more fun to film, especially when you're the actress cause everything was actually there in the moment it was filmed, today the entire movie would be special effects, all the characters and backgrounds were actually there back then.
i like how she is smiling at him... i guess she has/had a huge crush on him. I mean.. who wouldnt? Even i had a crush on him and he was always much much older than me. But he had this unique look.. oh gosh.. i loved his eyes and his nose.. i loved his nose.. well i loved anything about his look and his character.. :) such a pity i couldnt meet him before his death. :(
I too had the Crusher crush. I loved Gates McFadden as Dr. Beverly Crusher on TNG. She made quite the impression on my young mind; not only for her looks, but the way she expertly portrayed Crusher as an attractive, yet professional medical officer. She had way too little screen time in the TNG Movies.
I was a big fan of ST:TNG and of Gates McFadden in particular. I think I knew once that she had something to do with the film Labyrinth, but if I did I completely forgot about it. It's so funny because I just rewatched Labyrinth the other day for NO reason and then I stumbled on this today. :)
Wow I'm really impressed with Gates McFadden for this choreography work, had no idea she had worked with Jaques Lecoq in physical theater. Just finished Star Trek TNG and this makes the great sassy Dr Beverly Crusher even better. Also her calling out sexist shit makes her so awesome.
Actually, the movie itself was released in 1986,but principal filming took place the year before that,in 1985.I remember reading that filming started in October of '85,and since Jennifer's birthday is in December, she would have still been 14 when filming began. And she was 15,when the film was released in June of '86,and turned 16 that December. :-)
You know I must've watched this movie I don't know how many times and I absolutely did not know that Gates McFadden ( Dr. Beverly Crusher, Star Trek TNG) choreographed the dance scenes for Labyrinth! That's really wild! (You can't tell me this world ain't small!!)
I really like the ballroom scene and ending. I wish that she would have said that she will have her dream, but loosing her baby brother is not good. Would any of you people agree?😃😜
@fodxp Ack! That always bothered me too! She was my favourite character, yet in the movies she's relegated to being an extra while we get ANOTHER Data-wants-to-be-a-real-boy storyline.
@seanbateman2010 The scene where data smiles while dancing is also on the Star trek: The Next Generation screensaver , by Berkeley systems.... its great times
Gates is so talented, was a shame she wasn't on season 2 of next gen but if she hadn't have had the time she wouldn't have worked on labyrinth which is awesome so it worked out!
I don't think that is the case. No-one mistakes Dinklage, Davis or Barty or Troyer with each other. But though I do not see the resemblance to Dinklage in this case, there is plenty of other non-dwarf actors where people also see a resemblance that I do not.
I LOVE DAVID BOWIE !!!!!! WTG Cheryl.... and I loved Dr. Crusher too.... but it's confusing when you use Cheryl one time and Gates another - you are multi-talented - so why not just use Cheryl Gates McFadden for all of it?????
i like where they were showing David and Jenn dancing and then you see Jenn tryin not to laugh and David's just dancin all like 'la da da da da'
Gates McFadden choreographed the most romantic dance scene in a movie of all time? Holy shit what a legend!
Note that Jim Henson (whom you hear talking over certain scenes) refers to her as "Cheryl". Her full name is Cheryl Gates McFadden, and to distinguish between her choreography and acting work, she is usually credited as Cheryl for the former and Gates for the latter.
I have watched this movie countless times and never knew that Ms. McFadden was the genius behind the choreography and movements. Beautiful work!!!
Knowing gates McFadden had something to do with one of my favourite movies ever just makes it so much better
I know right?!
I absolutly LOVE Gates McFadden!! She's one of my all time favorite actresses, and she's so nice to her fans, too. I met her a couple of years ago at a convention, and she was such a sweetheart! Agreed. Thanks for sharing your story..aren't you THRILLED SHE And the rest will be back on Picard..
@@leif1075 I am SO excited she’s coming back, along with all the others!! 😄🖖

Incredible isn't she! Growing to love her as Beverly Crusher then learning she was a big part behind the scens of one of my ultimate childhood films!
I had no idea she did something other than act... that's fantastic.
i like how she is smiling at him... i guess she has/had a huge crush on him. I mean.. who wouldnt? Even i had a crush on him and he was always much much older than me. I could have say exactly what u just said! Agree w everything
CʜᴀᴏsQᴜᴇᴇɴ me toooooooo
i love how you said such a pity. I don’t know if that was a pun or not because his favourite line is “such a pity”😂😭
Lol she didn't even know him that well
tell me about it!!
Of course.
In the TNG episode "Data's Day", Dr. Crusher teaches Data to dance.
That’s exactly what I thought when i saw this! To know there’s a connection between two of my favorite things really brings a smile to my face
Poor gates.
She never got the credit she deserves.
She's such a selfless and lovely person.
She just gets on with it.
Thought she was fabulous on TNG, totally underrated.
She also never aged.
She’s a multitalented, kind and intelligent woman. Truly no one’s doing it like her
man i love her
I knew this magical ballroom scene had intricate detail and finesse of a Doctor's touch! *Bravo Dr Crusher of TNG!*
I too had the Crusher crush. I loved Gates McFadden as Dr. Beverly Crusher on TNG. My husband and I were just talking about how jipped she was of screen time in the films
It a shame that Jim is gone, love Jim. :)
I'm so jealous at Jennifer and Sarah! I would do everything just to dance with him....*sigh*
With who? Jareth or David Bowie? Both? 😂❤
No Way!! Gates McFadden was choreographer for one of my earliest favourite movies!?! What a small world....
i did not know that dr. beverly crusher had anything to do with labyrinth
Dance choreographer and puppet handler apparently :) I had no idea, the last time I saw Labyrinth was years before I even knew what Star Trek was lol
Mind blown.
They don't call her the Dancing Doctor for no reason!
Right, I had no idea either! This is so awesome!
@@simonkawasaki4229 BLAST IT JIM! I'M A DOCTOR,NOT A DANCER!😋🛸🚀
I love this movie it's my favourite movie of all time. And to see how much work it took is incredible🙊
OMG!!! It is Dr. Beverly Crusher from Star Trek!!! how cool is that?!
I never knew….
This is so cool. 🖤
Gates McFadden was the choreographer for The Labyrinth?? So much respect.

Dr. Crusher is a choreographer?! Whoah. I had no clue. =D
Oops! Someone seemed pissed off ( 1:36 )🤭 Come on! They're having the time of their lives💙
The girl at the beginning is Hocket..Higgle..Hogwart..Hoggle!!!!
Jennifer was 14? How much she's changed over the years. My eyes were looking for 'Jareth!' lol. Big Jareth fan!
+Sephy Callum Jennifer has aged pretty well. Look her up on Google Images.

i luv this movie. im gonna go watch it :D
Amazing, I never knew, I loved this movie as a kid
Ahhhhhhhhhh the Dancing Doctor !!
Talk about multi-talented Gates was.
Oh that's such a cute little clip!!!
I had no idea Gates was so versatile. Amazing!
To have a crush on Dr. Crusher is slowly crushing me.

"LET'S CLEAR THE SET UNLESS YOU'RE A GOBLIN WITH A ROCK ATTACHED TO YOU."
So cool to see Gates McFadden in 1985.

Dr Crusher, Bowie and Jennifer Connelly
ohhhh.... they like each other💜💜💜💜💜💑💑💑
i had NO idea gates mcfaden was a part of labrynith!
VERY COOL
Lovely seeing Jennifer Connelly smile as she's in the ball dress with that hair style.
I always forget that she was only 14 in this movie. Amazing. Bet it was amazing to meet and dance with David.
@CluppHead That's cause it's the same woman-- Cheryl (Gates) McFadden, who played Dr. Beverly Crusher.
It's so wild to see a young Gates McFadden
Gives bigger meaning for Beverly being known as the Dancing Doctor in her younger years. 😅
@LeesburgFLAtheist the CRUSHER CRUSH ! What a great name for my affliction.
Jennifer is perfect !
I'm surprised, had no idea she worked on one of my favourite movies growing up.
@seanbateman2010 recently watched that episode too lol, his smile is amazing during her teaching
Bellissimo film...
Dr. Crusher is the choreographer?! Awesome!!
I really like the ballroom scene and ending. I wish that she would have said that she will have her dream, but loosing her baby brother is not good. Would any of you people agree?😃😜
And my crush continues 💕

Love Gates Mcfadden amazing and sutch a nice voice. Still is my Dr Beverly Crucher
you can tell she was loving that dance with him
I know this is about Gates, and I loved TNG too, but wow, I forgot how Jennifer Connelly looked back then... and she was 14? Radiant.
WE LOVE YOU, JARETH!!!!! RIP DAVID BOWIE!!!!
Heard she did choreography for this movie but to see her in action is awesome! Wait Cheryl McFadden? Lol
JESUS CHRIST I WISH I KNEW THIS SOONER
OMG the girl at the beginning with the red hair its Doctor Beverly Crusher holy crap
@jamesmcburnie Is the later part of this clip from a new DVD version of the film? Seen the first parts before but not the more recent interview.
1:37 Awww
I didn't know Gates did this until now
@seanbateman2010 The scene where data smiles while dancing is also on the Star trek: The Next Generation screensaver , by Berkeley systems.... its great times
1:12 isn’t she in Star Trek the Next Generation?
Yes, she was. She landed the role of Dr. Beverly Crusher in 1987.
Jenniferrrr is luvvv
2:33 I wonder what scene they were looking at .
Man that ballroom scene is my dream!!!! *Forget about the Sarah...*
Someone knows the name of the guy the 0:46 second?
Gah! That little baby is so cute! :D
Is this included in the Anniversary edition of the DVD? Anyone know?
Jennifer is such a lucky woman
I wish i was in the ballroom scene wow
0:58 I didnt know deanna troi was in Labyrinth too
Gates is so talented, was a shame she wasn't on season 2 of next gen but if she hadn't have had the time she wouldn't have worked on labyrinth which is awesome so it worked out!
Blackstar12345678 Labyrinth was released summer of 1986. ST:TNG's initial season wasn't until 1987.
Gates was fired for season 2 by the head screenwriter. He left for season 3, and Rick Berman asked her to come back, luckily.
What !!!!!! i wish i was sarah like who wouldnt want to dance with david !!!! im fricken jelouse
is that peter dinkladge at 2:08?
Umm I don't think so. That guy's eyes seem too deep set to be Peter's.
No, thats jack purvis who also played wally in time bandits, and other cool star wars and narnia stuff
Not to mention the guy at 2:08 looks easily a good 15-20 years older than Peter looks now
I don't think that is the case. No-one mistakes Dinklage, Davis or Barty or Troyer with each other. But though I do not see the resemblance to Dinklage in this case, there is plenty of other non-dwarf actors where people also see a resemblance that I do not.
Good job, algorithm.
WOW, Cheryl McFadden sure looks like the lovely Dr. Beverly Crusher
I think the character was supposed to be fifteen. Either way, I think it's best a kiss was avoided xD
Jennifer has always been beautiful. Just a year younger than me but looks a decade or more younger.
wish there was more romantic connection between the two.
That would’ve been vErY illegal lol she was 14
@@MysticHeather true shit I was like 15 when i wrote that now as an adult im disturbed by this
@jaydavies1984 Ha ha, yeah, who could forget "the dancing doctor".
She is the dancing doctor alright =D
She was 14 when she did this if I don’t look like her when I’m 14 I’m gonna scream
What is going on with her hair color?
@MaryesHeights1862 Yea I saw an interview with him. It's so weird to see him grown up. :P
I had no idea Beverly Crusher was part of this movie...
....... that was Dr. Crusher. Wow.
Dr. CRUSHER? The Dancing Doctor? Oh, this was every woman's fantasy.

just checking...

She goes by Cheryl for her choreography work and Gates for acting. It's a way for her to keep some separation between the two.
Gee, you think that explains the name of this video? Gates McFadden ....
is it me? Or does the choreography director look strikingly like the DR from star trek next generation???
beverly crusher :D
wait is it Gates or Cheryl?
Both. She changed her stage name to Gates for Star Trek.
I had no idea dr. Crusher had anything to do with Labrinyth but then I was like only 8 maybe 10 so...
