  • This edc ratchet from 711L is designed to work with Leatherman multi tools, but also works with some SOG multi tools as well. It is a 60 tooth design that is small in profile and weight. Through some limited testing, it seems to hold up quite nicely.

I need to make a correction. I stated that this product was manufactured in China, when in fact it is manufactured in Taiwan. My apologies for the confusion.

While the description says "tool only" it does come with one each of a bi-metal th-cam.com/users/postUgkx0vyBwjtx9GGOuiqUVT2sRoYqmDoNT_RI and HCS blade plus an adaptor plate for non-DeWalt blades. Wish I had known that before I bought the blade kit, but oh well. Since I already have a DeWalt drill, charger and batteries there was no need to buy more of those so this was a great deal. There is one other consideration. DeWalt does't sell the depth guide separately so you need to buy the three parts which make it up -- the N275350 block assy, the N275341 metal rod and the N278801 knob. Amazon does sell all three.

Just out of personal experience. I ordered this almost right when it came out. I work as a Welder/Fitter/Fabricator/Ironworker and sometimes a Millwright. I've used this tool with my Surge during heavy application jobs and it has held up wonderfully for me. The forward/reverse selector has been flawless, the internals have maintained a nice crisp action and the material itself has not bent, twisted or otherwise. The slots in the exchanger has not weakend nor has it developed any slop. Every bit I put in has held nicely and it has performed flawlessly for me in very heavy duty applications. Which surprised the heck out of me since it's smaller than my pinky finger. The shipping time is insane. When I ordered this, it took almost a month to arrive. Don't waste your time buying the tool and the bits. The bits are terrible. I would recommend just buying the ratchet and grabbing a set of Wiha bits to go with it. Otherwise, I very highly recommend this addition to those who are looking for a ratchet to add to their leathermans. Peace out and have a beautiful day y'all!

I'm hesitant to buy when there are no written reviews on Amazon, less than 10 rat8ngs, almost 1/3 the cost extra shipping, and a month or more to get it.
How did you even know about it to order it when it cam out? There is like zero review coverage, too. Am I missing something?

This is actually a high quality well proven tool made in Taiwan by a company called HI-FIVE.
All the reverse gear market bit ratchets are made by them, from topeak to Facom and MAC tools.
Theres countless rebrandings and slight variations including locking flex heads, but GM power torque I carry in the side of my Bond sheath is the same head.
I prefer a seperate bit ratchet because I'm not trying to add bits to my multitool, I just need a 2nd 1/4 and #2 for times theres a screw head on both sides of something.
I carry the bit ratchet with one in the head and the other in the handle, if I need any other bits I get into my tool bag.

    What a neat little attachment!
I prefer to carry my LM extender flat side up, this lets the flared adapter add some retention under the elastic sleeve and makes it less likely to shift over to the side and drop out. I carry my wave horizontally (leather LM sheath with two side sleeves), but I've tested the extension like that by lightly shaking the pouch upside down and it does well.

I love the fact you have you the pliers to pull out Bitstrip bits. I hate when bits are loose or fall out,and then you have readjust them again and reposition the wrench . I ve known about the mini ratchet for about 1 year I seen it on a promo , and it was still a proto type . I definitely need both now because I went from a surge to a free p2 and thats the only thing I hat about it ...no bit extanger. Also I seen a video that someone made the T bar extanger like the one on the surge . anyways thanks for all the awesome content you always put out brother .

IMO Leatherman needs to scrap the proprietary bit exchanger and go with the standard hex driver. At least give an option. I took your advise of the bit extender with double ended Wiha bits. The refill bit set for 26 in 1 drivers come in molded thermoplastic holder. This fits fine in the nylon sheath for my wave and im not worried about those crappy bits

This is one of those products that I personally just don't see a big need for. Emphasis on "big" need. The way I see it, there are too many good to great little bit ratchets out there that can do all the jobs this one does. I guess at the end of the day this is essentially for the person that is just trying to shave off that little bit more of size and weight, regardless of how much of a minor practical difference it may be. I know there are people out there that will likely jump on this once they know about it. Just one of those, "neat, but not for me," items.

If you carry a ratchet like this , there is no need to attacth it to the multitool.
That's why victorinox setup with a separate ratcheting system non attachable to the multi tool os better in my opinion .
    2 reasons .
    1) if you apply to much pressure to scree or unscrew , you may break your multitool (Leatherman ). On victorinox approach , you may break the ratchet . The multitool is not stretched.
    2) Sometimes you need to screw something and use your plyers to hold the bolt behind the screw ...
Leatherman style ratcheting system doesn't help on these ocations.

  • @joshquiroz

It’s cool but if you have to detach it for carrying why not just have a stand alone ratchet? Same applies for wrench attachments.

  • @caramelzappa

I honestly don't understand the point. It doesn't save any space over any number of small ratchets. It just uses your leatherman as a clunky extension to your tiny ratchet.
It feels like something you would carry as an excuse to feel like your leatherman is more useful rather than out of actual utility.
Looks well made and well designed. But I feel like I'd rather just carry a small ratchet.
I would love to see one that truly integrates with a leatherman. If I could replace an entire side of tools on my P4 with a ratchet that actually folds away into place I would.
Another downside in having the ratchet attatched to the leatherman is you often need to hold both the fastner and a nut. With a sepoerate ratchet you could use the pliers on your leatherman to hold one and tighten with the ratchet. As one piece you can only use one tool at a time.
I hate to be so negative on it as I love your videos and appreciate the look at the tool.

    • @choltzapple
      @choltzapple 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

I agree, I would probably just use a regular mini ratchet. However, it is still kind of cool that somebody makes this. Clearly I'm a bit of a multitool nerd.

You make some excellent points, points I tend to agree with. I think if you have a need for a bit ratchet, there are some very good options out there. I did find it interesting that someone actually designed this accessory to work with Leatherman tools though.

If you double the length of the handle you won't even need the LM tool to use it. And it would barely take up space.
I don't feel like this adds much to the LM tool, in fact it would probably just lead you to put forces on the bit holder in a way that it wasn't designed to.
