Michigan Trout Opener 2024 - Creek Fishing for Brown Trout

It was an epic day fishing the fabled and most anticipated day of the year for trout anglers in the state of Michigan- The Trout Opener. Thousands of anglers across the state have traditions of heading out and fishing their favorite creek.
My brother Jack and I decided to head out to a creek nearby and try our luck at brown trout fishing. We caught only two browns and fished for over eight hours. It was soooo worth it though. The struggle made those two fish memorable. We also caught some creek chubs and a sucker while fishing this creek.
Creek: Middle Branch of the Big Bend River
Favorite lures: Beavcoons / hook line sinker & worms
Did we get wet? Yes.
Was it worth it? Most definitely.

What setup do you use for worms for trout. Went out for the opener but not much luck

Usually a small hook (small barb or no barb) a half of worm and a small split shot. 4-6lb mono line. Just drifting it through slow water. Seems to work well. Hope that helps :)
