As someone who, before college, never studied for anything and always had straight As, I know that “bad test takers” are a real thing. A good friend of mine would freeze up and waste his time taking major tests and blow it, almost every time. But if you asked him verbally one of the questions he could tell you the answer. Idk what the problem was but he wasn’t stupid.
It’s all part of the test though. You need to perform when it counts. The whole point of tests is to sort out your potential to make sure the people with the most potential end up in the best schools so that they have the biggest impact on society. Being able to perform under pressure is a crucial part of success.

I think Destiny would say (or maybe what I'd like him to say, who knows) - is that on an individual basis, it's good to not be complacent and to take ownership of your life. However, on a societal level, it's good to build safety nets and to try to ensure people have the resources they need to be successful so we have less people falling through the cracks. It's all about optimizing the future for better outcomes.

While I agree, I do think that while it may be extremely apparent to most of us that his reasonability here wouldn't apply to his rhetoric/arguments he espouses to his viewers, there is the possibility that some may begin to slowly shift into thinking in such a way. We all hold some form of radical ideas in relation to some part of the world or the society we live in. In my case, I’m a Christian but I’d talk to you about anything and everything even though I firmly believe in the radical (not radically violent) ways to spread the word gospel. I think Destiny would say (or maybe what I'd like him to say, who knows) - is that on an individual basis, it's good to not be complacent and to take ownership of your life. However, on a societal level, it's good to build safety nets and to try to ensure people have the resources they need to be successful so we have less people falling through the cracks. It's all about optimizing the future for better outcomes.
@@youtubename8796 sure but we already have those social safety nets. The thing is, social safety nets are designed to "hold you over" while you get off your ass and make shit happen. Food stamps, unemployment benefits, low income housing, etc are all suppose to be temporary. Staying permanently on these programs will ensure you stay in poverty. You're suppose to use these programs while you "pull yourself by the bootstraps". The programs aren't suppose to automatically just make you successful nor should they.
You missed his point, he didn't find success through pulling himself up. He played video games at the right time and happened to be technically proficient enough to stream it. His success fell in his lap. Without the stars aligning he would still be cleaning carpets.

I do think there's a positive effect to reaching out rather than ostracism but it's hard to do that with someone who repulses you and harbors hate toward you. Destiny luckily has the patience of a god and isn't in the demo that Nick hates and is willing to bite that bullet.

If they're stream snipers, it means they watch streams. If they watch streams, that probably means they have poor social skills because they spend most of their time watching streams. And stream snipers are probably more invested into a streamer than other stream viewers are, so that means even more investment into a stream, and even worse social skills.

As someone who is pretty right-wing, I’m against sorting people by tests in any significant way. The reason for this is because the tests aren’t actually as good at the individual level as many claims on my side. Also, many geniuses are very strange and can have very tilted abilities. What do you do with someone who scores off the charts in some subtest or something but overall is average?
On average an intelligent person will score high and an unintelligent person will score low, this is obvious. Why would we base a system on outliers?
