its so funny how when you watch destiny content he comes off as like a debate bro and very zealous (not to say hes wrong, just that his debate tactics display a much more aggressive demeanor), but then when you see him in these more candid moments around people, hes incredibly charming and charismatic. gives you a little more insight into why hes popular with the ladies despite his appearance.

I think his aggression is more against stupidity and blatantly false statements that end up making him extremely frustrated. People love seeing him riled up and he mostly enjoys getting to that level in conversations that are actually of substance. I think the only thing that really upsets him is the dumb statements people pass off as absolute truth that can easily be disproven with minimal effort like reading for a few minutes.

I wrote a fucking essay.
I used to be a pretty big fan of Destiny's and watch his debates a lot. I still have tremendous respect for him and I tune in occasionally, but over time I've found it more and more difficult to watch his debate content.
He clearly cares a great deal about the truth and I think he does a great job of keeping himself open minded while simultaneously identifying when others are making shitty arguments.
However, the thing that started to bother me is the degree to which he prioritizes pushing his takes over the feelings of others. I understand that he needs his debates to be entertaining for his viewers and thus there's an even greater incentive for him to make jokes at the expense of his opponent, but I still feel that he tends to be a bit heavy handed.
This can be great when his opponents kind of deserve to get shitted on, like when he debated NoBullshit or that time he got 5 v 1'd in a call for hours and gaslit until Asmongold came in lmao. However, sometimes I just end up feeling like he's needlessly antagonizing a completely normal person.
I feel like his falling out with Hasan is a prime example of that. If I remember the chronology correctly, it started out with Destiny calling Hasan out for hastily and erroneously reporting on a case about the police shooting a black kid or something. Up to this point Hasan and Destiny seemed to be on pretty good terms and I think it might even be fair to say they were actually friends. At the outset, I think Hasan was a bit defensive but he also seemed eager to agree with Destiny and acknowledged to some degree that he made a mistake.
Either that debate between them or the next one ended up devolving into a pretty vicious argument centering in part around police brutality and I just remember literally watching their friendship get nuked almost irreparably in the span of like 2 hours because Destiny couldn't resist aggressively shooting down Hasan's points and making jokes at his expense. I respect Destiny for his commitment to telling people when he disagrees with them, no matter how close they are to him, but I think when dealing with an otherwise decent person you're kind of being a dick if you try to escalate things into making fun of/insulting them. You can make your point without doing that.
Any time I hear Hasan talk about politics it makes me cringe. He's very tribalistic/partisan and he makes shitty erroneous arguments. However, I've become a degenerate mizfrog and seen more of Hasan's interactions with people outside of political debates. He seems like a genuinely nice dude and I think he truly believes zealously parroting every liberal talking point is somehow improving the world.
If we're being honest most of us know people like Hasan. Good people, likable people who become completely insufferable cringe lords when they talk about politics. It's completely fair to disagree with them and to explain your points, but I don't really think their irrationality on some political issue (assuming they lack malice) justifies antagonizing and shitting on a person.
The Hasan thing was also one of the early signs of whole Destiny arc where he ended up falling out with seemingly every leftist influencer in existence almost. By the time all of that reached full force I was already tuned out so I'm not sure, but I get the impression some of those were salvageable relationships Destiny destroyed in a similar manner.
I think most people perceive this tendency of Destiny's to shit on people who he believes are wrong about something important in a heavy-handed manner and they find it off-putting/intimidating because they're probably aware of their own fallibility.
Anyway, TL;DR I think the perception of Destiny as an antagonistic debate lord is somewhat justified.
I will say I bet Destiny has more adult viewers than most of the other streamers. It does make him different and more respectable
It just means his jokes have to be better than the typical streamer pratfalls and pog faces.

I will never understand the genuine fear that non-political streamers have about interacting with Destiny. Well, I get that most are fearful of potential fan backlash through just association with Destiny because of his "hot takes". But like, Destiny knows how to be "normal" if the environment is just chill and cool. I feel like everyone assumes that Destiny is always on his "Political Debate Lord" mode 24/7 so they just tip toe around every little fucking thing they say or about to say to avoid "conflict" or being put on the spot. It annoys me how so many streamers have mythologized Destiny into this "scary Boogeyman" when it's so far from the truth when he steps outside of his typical realm of work lol

They actually have good chemistry. Destiny brings out a side of Miz that I’ve never seen before. But to be fair, I’ve never watched a Mizkif stream, but I’ve seen his videos and a crap ton of clips. But anyway, this is actually golden content. It was great how Miz was intimidated at first, but then actually started defending himself and giving the banter back. That’s what you gotta do, THAT’S what makes the best content when Destiny starts doing that. If it’s just him shitting on you the entire time, people get the wrong impression and don’t realize he’s mostly joking and just trying to make everyone laugh.
