      > I think one way to start that is by accuratly identifyinbg the problem
Definitely agree, but I feel like the first step there is humanizing predators. They're humans. I get really frustrated when people say "YOU'RE HUMANIZING THEM" as if humanizing is in someway the same as justifying.
Regarding your sympathy; thanks my duderino. It's a little disconnected from this conversation as it was non-pentetrative and the people who did it weren't fully grown, they were like 14, but as I learned more about my abusers and grew to understand their situation, it became clear to me that they didn't do those things things because of some super natural evil in this world, or because they were inhuman. One of them literally had to abandon his house at the age of 9 because his father was beating the fuck out of everyone in their home. Guy craved feeling powerful because he felt powerless, which resulted in the acitons he took against me. And those actions taken against me in turn caused me to behave in ways I regret now that I'm an adult and can reflect. These things are often cyclical. It's extremely frustrating to me how this conversation is had as if we're a bunch of people in the dark ages who believe in soul-based human behavior.

So I doubt anything he said would jave mattered but one important element Destiny left out was that our current attitude toward paeddophilia prevents us from being able to do anything proactive. Destiny should have explained that the goal is to make it so that people who haven't offended can have the ability to seek diversionary treatment. It basically eliminates the possibility of a paedo self reporting or seeking treatment.
There are actually real world examples of this and it is pretty messed up. There have been some rare instances of a paedo basically confessing their attraction to a therapist or cops and getting absolutely destroyed for it. It's obviously a crazy situation for a cop or therapist to deal with but basically, the person sought help and was punished for admitting their attraction even tho they never acted on it.
It's crazy tho because they actually said it out loud. "How would we know who a paedo is beforehand? We usually don't know until after they have been caught". That's the whole point. That is the system we exist in now. The only way to improve on that would be to introduce new methods, which would require public support.
It's still a super sticky situation to cope with but our current attitude of "we'll treat you with a bullet", is limiting our ability to reduce sexual abuse.

I'm only 30 minutes in. Ashton is coming off as the most braindead person in the room, which is amazing to do on a panel with Brittany Venti. I don't know if it's because the subject matter is so touchy, but she seems completely incapable of comprehending any form of information that's more than a single layer deep. The conversation so far -
Destiny - "Tacos are a cultural dish just like spaghetti is a cultural dish"
Ashton - "ARE YOU SAYING SPAGHETTI IS A MEXICAN FOOD???"

It was like four or five times in this discussion that he uses an analogy (and later stardust uses an analogy) then several of the people on the panel get confused and think that the person making the analogy must be equating/conflating the two things. It's like they think that in order for an analogy to hold the two objects of comparison must be similar in every way. Ironically that would defeat the purpose of an analogy.

The formal operational stage begins at approximately age twelve and lasts into adulthood. As adolescents enter this stage, they gain the ability to think in an abstract manner by manipulating ideas in their head, without any dependence on concrete manipulation (Inhelder & Piaget, 1958).
Many people on this panel did not surpass the cognitive level of the average 12-year-old, as per the above example.

meh, woman here. i think he's being so patient in this video for two reasons: 1) he knows from arguing with brittany in the past that he's not dealing with the sharpest crayons in the box, and 2) his position in the amos debate was so clear and obvious that he can tell if they don't understand it from the get go, he needs to bring it all down to a third grade reading level to have any hope of them comprehending it. he also probably knows that this crowd is naturally going to be ultra-uncharitable to him from the getgo, and he's outnumbered, so maintaining a calm cool collected demeanor is going to be way more effective than raging out.

I would argue the direct opposite. The fact that nobody in this comment section has anything even remotely nice to say about any of the ladies, kinda shows your political bias, not any kind of open mindedness or even signs of intelligence. If you had anywhere as much intelligence as you proclaim to have, you would at least entertain the notion that parents would NOT be fine with this in any way.
The low-key jab you have at the ladies for being "less intelligent than you", I'm going to attribute to the fact that that is the example the creator in the video presents to you as the 'gold standard'. Because it was Xmas just a couple of days ago, I'm feeling generous and not assuming you're just the kind of person who says people are stupid simply because they don't agree with you. One free man defending his home is worth more than ten hired antifa.
First thing taliban/antifa (anti-freedom) does is force women to wear masks, force people to stay inside, ban guns, burn US flags, chant death to America.
Alt-left were the ones building the camps and lighting the gas. Hitler, Mao, Stalin, Castro. Lots of sad idols in leftist history. Now the taliban. Ideology is not an alt-left strong point.

@@ronmartin1375 This might be the greatest comment ever. What does it have to do with OP’s post? Why is there a period after “Taliban”? Who knows and who cares; all that matters is that I laughed. I know it’s probably bait, but I like to think that this really encapsulates the strange views of an actual, breathing human being. It almost seems like something out of a HST novel. Cheers!

Brittany is so offended by her previous engagement with him that she can't get past her disgust. Therefore she can't keep an objective and rational mind and engage in any type of debate. She will always see him as an obstacle and will unknowingly self-sabotage her ability to have a conversation with him present. Her mind cannot be changed, she cannot be influenced, she cannot see reason or be reasoned with because she has already locked herself inside a vault. She can only attack his character and tear him down because she needs him to be less so that the influence she has unconsciously given him over her wanes. Keep in mind, he takes no control over this influence and asks her only to meet him at a neutral ground, and she can only salt the earth and hold no quarter. She is at war, and no one can get her to understand that she has no enemy here.

She seems very insecure about her intelligence relative to how she views destiny. You can tell just by how most of her jokes are about how smart and logical she thinks he is.

As a Conservative, I actually agree with most of what Destiny said. His point seems perfectly reasonable. You have to have some level of empathy in order to prevent a person with a messed up brain to act on evil tendencies. Mindlessly killing all pedaphiles won't actually lower the amount of people turning into pedaphiles.
Especially us Christians should ask ourselves, what did Jesus do? Did he purely focus on the punishment of evil acts, or did he not also spend much of His time changing the hearts of people with sinful tendencies, pointing them towards a path of truth and light?
Stepping in a person's shoes who does evil things, in order to prevent them from from doing those things, does not make you a supporter of that evil.

Yeah... unfortunately empathy requires that you understand what is entailed of human experience (the cause of our urges, how the world affects our experience, emotional awareness, etc.). Most people are made shallow by their confusion (courtesy of our societal desire to control) so they'll run from themselves and hate others easily. This of course is futile if they actually aim to make the world a better place like they may claim, as collective ignorance inspires hate in those with oppressed imagination. Really their interactions are influenced by their emotional naivety projected onto the externality of linguistic sentiment. Information, (non biological) that is a product of human creation, is found within our imagination, the source of conceptual knowledge that can be analyzed and recorded into memory within the psyche. This makes the psyche essentially the methodology, so to speak, of how we interact with our environment. (Imagination counting as a psychic environment ;) ) The core issue boils down to where we hold our conviction. Will it be in the guidance of our own minds in search of our vulnerability in limitations, to solve our "existential puzzle"? Or will our ego perceive all and distort actuality? The second option results in adaptation to make believe. Words are a microscopically condensed, generalized pictures of reality and if convictions are held in narrative story telling, then the human capacity for a abstract thought will be corrupted within that image. Basically instead of connecting dots outside of ideas abstractly, it's more like a mini "pocket" reality that you abstract within. So that mini reality becomes you and your world views are fuckin retarded if that happens.
