My 2011 Silverado 5.3 had a low oil pressure light that was. New pressure switch (that’s what the code said) made no difference. I turned the light off with my scanner and within five miles it would come back on. I added a quart of MMO and turned the light off again. 2k miles later and the light still hasn’t come back on. Oil pressure is great. MMO made a believer out of me.

I seen that before...It's Because the oil passage was restricted with carbon..So the switch was not getting the correct pressure reading.. I seen people change oil pumps. Only to find that out..

Something I want to leave under this comment but it's not pertaining to this continent is this
Give the channel a chance and the knowledge that's being put out here before shooting stuff down please that's all I ask of you.
A lot of people coming with their biased opinion and I would like for you to let me as a neutral Force dispel some of the myths and or show if a product actually works
As a master technician in the field that does this every single day for a manufacturer I would think that people would want to see what I have to say about this without shooting the product down and trashing my testing methods and just let me do my thing and hang around for it

Nice I have a 5.3 too. Pretty nice engines. For a while I had a CEL p0446 code for EVAP leak. Oh boy...tons and tons of advice on the internet, replace this, clean the filter, replace the tank pressure sensor, tap on the charcoal filter...everyone had some solution I didn't know what to try first but of course wanted to try the simple easy stuff first. Ended up noticing the fuel cap was pretty dirty and where it screwed into the filler neck. Cleaned up the gas cap and where it sits on the filler neck, cleared the code and it hasn't come back since!

Yes! My first old truck 2004 3V, f150, after getting night mare spark plug issue addressed, noticed my oil pressure gauge was flickering, i was stressed out, being broke, stop by autozone, remember talking to the guy behind the counter, the guy asked me to try MMO, never heard of it before, dumped the whole can. immediately oil pressure went up. Never saw it again .

@@cessealbeach I just had a Dodge Promaster 2017 roll up not 30 mins ago..Everybody wanted to replace the AC compressor... It's the damn cooling fans stage 3 will not come on. So the ECM shuts the AC off too protect it from overheating...10 mins of looking they have a recall that replaces the Cooling fans. The resistors and 6 relays for free. As it's a fire hazard..
Guy was happy as could be. He saved $900.00 for an AC compressor job.. And them fans. As they cost $450.00 from Dodge dealer. then labor added in..
All because I typed in the guys VIN to check on issues with stage 3 fan not coming on..Seem a common issue with that model..

I worked for a car dealer as a mechanic a long time ago and that is how I caught on to Marvel Mystery Oil. When we had a vehicle that had valve chatter he would buy the M.M.O. and put that in and by the next day that valve clatter was gone. I always recommend it to my customers who have valve clatter issues and a dirty oil control system. At least 50% of the vehicles I work on have dirty or very little oil in the engines. This is the truth. M.M.O. really works.

MMO is still on the market because it’s still a viable product in certain circumstances. It’s not going to fix everything, but loosening up a top end and moving throughout an engine to help circulate oil better is probably it’s best thing in addition to cleaning out fuel systems on old engines.

    Still used to current 2021
I use in all vehicles as lead substitute in older vehicles in fuel
Mix and additional oil in 2 cycle mix . Great for stuck valves
Great product just use quality oil
Filters like wix or Napa Gold
A/c Delco, Motorcraft. .. never never
Use Fram oil filters they come apart .internally stop up everything.
Had a customer with 2.3 low compression readings .. used mmo
Full oil change cycle engine runs better readings on compression
And engine running better . Apparently rings sticking due to short trip cycles .. I am currently bringing a ford 351 out of hibernation using mmo sticking valves and rings pouring some in intake and filling cylinders all plugs out . Let soak few days .truck has
22k original miles like new .

Bought my 2003 GMC Sierra used which had 220,000 km. The old 5.3 had a pretty noticeable lifter tick in it. Threw in some mmo and drove for 10-15 minutes and the noise was completely gone- I couldn’t believe it. I drained the oil and it was dark as it could possibly get. Obviously the truck wasn’t maintained and had a lot of build up in it. Been putting abit of mmo a couple Kim’s prior to an oil change for the last 4 years. Truck now has 325,000 km and it’s completely silent and runs great. Also throw some in the gas occasionally. True believer in this stuff

I've have worked on several high mileage cars over the years. The biggest improvements I've seen is from cars that used Conventional Motor oil. Even if they change their oil regularly, it will still gum up and sludge a bit. Then I would run a can of high detergent engine flush and drain. I would repeat in severe cases. When I was satisfied with the results, then I would switch to 100% synthetic oil. The engine now would run sewing machine smooth. Then to assure maximum cleaning, I would run 1 or 2 cans of Seafoam via a vacuum line. This would help further clean the intake/exhaust valves, and cylinder heads. Ofcourse, in highly neglected cars, cleaners will only go so far. Mechanic in a Can will not fix a worn or damaged engine.

5 years ago I bought a 2004 chev 2500 with a 6.0L gas engine it was 400 miles from where I live. When we picked it up it seemed really sluggish and lacked acceleration, when we filled with gas to head home I dumped 2 quarts of MMO in with 25 gallons of gas after 100 miles I could already feel the difference the engine had more power and ran a lot smoother. I continued to add MMO when we filled with gas at 1 ounce per gallon until we arrived home, what a difference in power and overall smoothness. I continued to add MMO to the gas all the while I owned that truck, never had a problem with the engine sold the truck with 180,00 miles on it, new owner loves it. I add MMO to all my vehicles at fill up now at 1 ounce per gallon.

Lots of discussion on bobisyheoilguy on this topic. MMO has its place. I've used it a long time for all sorts of things, including cleaning up an engine. I don't use it in gas for vehicles anymore. I use Lucas for that or 2 stroke. It's mostly naptha oil with wintergreen oils for smell. It's a light solvent. Some guys will put it in the engine the last 100-500 miles of an oil change when cleaning things up. I'd also recommend HDEO diesel oil. Maybe go with a thicker grade and substitute a quart of MMO with it.

I've always been careful using MMO or Seafoam in the bottom end. They knock loose a bunch of crap and they'll clog up pick ups and filters if the motor is really sludgy.. They are also such strong solvents that I worry about starting leaks. That being said, nothing works better than MMO mixed in your gas tank. Early throttle body fuel injectors really responded to that stuff. I've also had good luck mixing just a little in with 2 cycle fuel. It brought an old Yahmaha's oil injector back from the dead.

He said I have a quart in my building next door, I said I will give you 10$ cash if you go get it. He went and got it. I poured it in on top of the oil that was in it. I cranked it up and within 15-25 seconds that engine went totally quiet and smooth. Old Tom said you know I would never believe it if I had not heard and seen it.. I have been using it for 40 years. It will plug up the filter fast so change the filter twice while the mystery oil is in there. Do it for a couple weeks and really run the motor while you have the mystery oil in for those two or three weeks and it will really clean it good. I've added MMO to my 69 Ford F-100 since the 70s, it works fantastic. About 8-9 years ago l decided to replace the 302 V8 with a 300 6 , l was somewhat undecided mainly because the 300 6 had over 100k mis. on it. But the 302 was tired, and the 300 6 had also been run its entire life with MMO in both the motor oil and in fuel. So.... before dropping in the 300 6, l opened up the 300 6 , valve covers and oil pan only, cause l didn't want to have to pull out again the 300 if it was bad, although it was running great. I was stunned by how clean it was on the inside! It had a yellowish gold color to the inside. I have pictures to prove my claim. Then l opened up the discarded 302 V8 and it too was fantastically clean, but it had several 100K mis. on it.
I was amazed by how clean it was too. The 300 6 runs so smooth one of my friends thought l had converted my 69 to fuel injection! So yeah MMO does a great job of keeping a motor clean and l mean everything. My oil pressure before MMO was very high, now it's lower because of MMO viscosity. On the fuel side the carb. off the old engine was also very clean. MMO is one of the best investments l have made. And no I'm not a MMO rep.

TSB 09-003-03 is the Technical Service Bulletin for my '03 jeep Wrangler with the 4.0 engine. I had the misfire issue almost since new (I ordered this Jeep from the factory). The dealers were not much help and did a lousy job following the TSB the last time I let them touch my Jeep. I now have 100k miles. About every 5k or longer the engine will get a slight miss (manual transmission) that I can feel but will not set a Check Engine Light. At about 20k miles and 3 dealerships I started using MMO and have never looked back. I am at 101k and currently using it again. I suspect deposit buildup on the exhaust valves which keep the valves from closing at times. That TSB may help solve part of the engine misfire that you are experiencing. BTW, the gas mileage dropped 1-2 mpg and now it is back up at 18-19 highway which is good for a stock Rubicon. It takes about 2 full tanks of gasoline with MMO. BTW I tried all the injector cleaners and high detergent gasolines with no success. MMO is a cheap fix and does not seem to affect the catalytic converters.

My 94 k2500 has maybe 150k on the engine/297k on the truck, developed a random loud valve train noise about a year ago. Would come and go with nothing for weeks. Replaced a suspect lifter, readjusted all rockers. Came back randomly still. Always ran synthetic 10w-30/5000 mile interval. Oil pressure would be near redline at idle hot, and at 2500rpm still alarmingly low….. sometimes. Gave her the old ATF treatment and MMO for two short oil change intervals, and it stopped. It’s had a knock only for a second after start up for a few years, so I’ve been running Rotella 15w-40 T6. That’s the flavor she likes and is still running fine. Also switched to wix filters from acdelco.

I've been using MMO since the 80's. We lived on a farm, and the old man down the road showed me how he used it. He put it in the oil of all his equipment, in the fuel tanks and he'd use it to clean parts. He would buy it in bulk. I've used it in old cars that I would pick up to take to the scrap yard when ppl told me the car didn't run anymore. After a new battery, oil, fuel and coolant flush, I'd add this to the oil and fuel, and believe it or not they'd run smooth. But I have seen this clean so well that the sludge cleared around gaskets/seals, they'd leak even more. But that's OK, I'd gladly replace a few gasket set and sell a running engine than scrap the entire car.

Looking promising so far. I think I'm going to pick up a bottle of this stuff and dump it in my Crown Vics crankcase. The engine's got an annoying racket that shows itself on random cold starts. Lasts for just a couple seconds then goes away. I've had people say it was the timing chain guide sticking. A friend of the family who regularly works on cars heard it and he said it was a sticking lifter or valve. It's a loud tapping noise. After it stops, there's a noticeable ticking/clicking noise that ends up going away within a minute or 2.
This was a former county sheriff's car so it has a bunch of idle hours on it. Engine runs strong otherwise.

Mmo is basically just kerosene like diesel or no1 fuel oil (all pretty much the same thing) and a bit of naphtha oil with mint scent The naphtha and diesel is a strong cleaner and it does thin the oil but thinner oil makes an engine spin with less resistance. That's why drag racers use literal 0 weight oil. Yes mmo works but so does pura naphtha and diesel either by themselves or mixed together.
Mmo was known as snake oil not because it didn't deliver but because it's two cheap things you can mix together masked by a minty smell so people couldn't smell the two things. I don't buy mmo but I do use naphtha and diesel in oil. I do it every few years as a maintenance cleaning in my trucks. Some people use it regularly but it's a waste. Oil even if changed frequently will still make a bit of varnish but it takes years and one shot does the trick. Cleanest 300k valve covers and I do 10k oil changes with cheap syn.

Don't remember all the chemical breakdown but no real mystery. Way back when (way, way back) there was a product on the market that would do the approximate thing that MMO would do, it was called Rislone. Another old timers trick: Back in the late 50s & early 60s a lot of cars would develop sticking hyd. lifters creating a noticeable clicking noise.
