  • New York Judge Arthur Engoron ordered former President Donald Trump to pay a $454 million bond after determining during a trial that Trump committed fraud related to his real estate valuations. An appeals court on March 25 lowered that amount to $175 million.
New York Attorney General Letitia James has taken the first step toward seizing Trump-owned property in Westchester County, New York, if Trump doesn’t pay the bond.
Unlike in communist countries, Trump had due process, including a long and public legal procedure.

So in Malaysia if a property owner says their property is 30,000 sq feet and asked a bank to borrow $150 million against the property value but it turns out the property is only 10,000 sq feet and worth only $50 million…. Is that fraud?

This is not just Malaysia. You can say anything to the bank regardless if you mention your property has 5 bedrooms but turn out it has 4 or comes with a swimming pool but in actual fact its just a portable pool. The banks however will get their own assessors/valuer to appraised them. That's their job and yes, no fraud there buddy.

When did peekaboo James go out and measure sqft on any of Trump's properties? When did she ever prove he DELIBERATELY lied about something ? I get that she and the judge ran their mouth a lot. They said so isn't proof , and no one who wasn't in court saw anything. We just heard what media wanted to tell us. I mean damn, media told us he undervalued to pay less taxes when EVERY property owner knows they have absolutely no say on how much taxes they have to pay. Yet, millions of people now believe that's how it works. Imagine that

@@chestercheng.realestate Allen Weisselberg just got sentenced to prison for perjury. He is Trump's CFO. His documented lie was inflating the value of Trump's property values to increase Trump's position on the Forbes list for wealthiest Americans. In Trump's book "Art of the Deal" his most honest lie was his use of TRUTHFUL HYPERBOLE. He says lies over and over until major publications document it. Then he will reference those publications as evidence his lies are true. However, upon a deeper dive the banks have found all Trump exaggerated everything he presented them. Axos bank (who is owned by Trump's friend and is known for high interest auto loans) was the only bank willing to do the $100 million refinance last year because no other bank would touch the deal. So according to you, lying is not a form of fraud? And It's all the bank's fault?

@chestercheng.realestate that is communism. Venezuelans still have property owners, businesses and bank accounts. They have not taken away anything from the residents. They have guns and gangs. When they came for the guns to n Cuba and then the homes my family left.

Wouldn't matter if he tried to or not. Has to be a victim in fraud , and there isn't a lender that came against him. Complete opposite happened. If the lender came out after prosecutors laid out evidence and changed their mind and determined that he did because at the time they didn't know, then BAM!!! Prosecutor would then have a case . As far as taxes, it amazes me the amount of people who has actually ever owned property , that regurgitates that he "devalued" his property to pay less taxes. Knowing WE as property owners don't dictate prop tax.. Unless we go trying to swindle the county accessor. Even then, prop value is SUBJECTIVE. I could try getting a loan believing this pencil on my desk is worth $1M. That still isn't fraud regardless of how ridiculous it is.

In criminal fraud, yes a victim is required. This is civil disgorgement of profits obtained from money obtained by illegal business activity. They are not the same thing. No victim is required. It is a civil law that had more teeth than the fines that were no deterrent to large corporations. They just paid the fine and kept taking illegal money. That’s why the law was created. You can’t get rich from money you obtained using fraud, theft or any illegal business activity. The profits are not yours to keep. You are confusing criminal fraud which requires a victim, with civil disgorgement which stops profits from illegally gotten funds. Read the reason why disgorgement was created and you will see that criminal fines meant nothing to large corporations. Disgorgement was the only way to stop them.

You are confusing criminal fraud with civil disgorgement. Criminal fraud does require a victim but this is a civil case and disgorgement does not require a victim.

Signing a financial statement stating the pencil is worth that much under penalty of perjury to a lending company is fraud.

Signing a document stating " I believe something is worth X " , and the bank not agreeing is NOT fraud.. Who the F do you think gives your property value (worth) ? Do you have to go to a damn bank to ask approval to sell your property at a price YOU believe it's worth? F no!! Who the hell does that? DO you own anything or have ever bought property?

@ConstitutionalAmerican : "You are confusing criminal fraud with civil disgorgement. Criminal fraud does require a victim but this is a civil case and disgorgement does not require a victim." ???? WTF lol . Where do you get your info? What fraud ISN'T a crime? The person "getting money " from an entity , the entity is being defrauded . You can't get money out of the sky. It comes from an entity. Person or business . In this case, that entity ( BANK ) says you're full of shit .!
