The hardest bosses IMO are Mystic Cave, Metropolis, Wing Fortress and the Death Egg Robot. In Mystic Cave the spikes fall from the ceiling more quickly than in the original version of Sonic 2 which makes it incredibly hard to avoid getting hit by them. It's pretty much down to luck if you take damage or not. I still managed to beat it without losing any rings.

even tho i'm 3 years late i'll explain This is Egg Gauntlet Zone, which is separate from the boss attack mode used in the game. The achievement is for beating boss attack mode under 7 minutes, not Egg Gauntlet. Egg Gauntlet is unused and only accessible through using the dev menu available through the PC port of Sonic 2 for mobile, or (I'm not sure on this part) doing some funky stuff with debug mode.
This is the Sonic 2 decomp (in case you were using the Sonic 1 decomp) Go to the files of where the RSDK decomp is, open "settings," and change the setting for devmenu to true (true is in lowercase, but I'm not sure if that makes a difference) and then save the file. In the game, press escape (esc) and go to Stage Select > [You can choose whichever character(s) you'd like] > Bonus > Egg Gauntlet Zone bam, 3 years later, hope this helps

Was anyone able to beat this under 7 minutes? It's required to unlock one of the achievements. I find it to be pretty much impossible to do so.
