This is a nostalgia trip for me. When I was 12 years old, I bought the essential collections of Amazing Spider-man which was a bargain considering the numerous issues per volume albeit in black and white. Silver age comics aren't generally well received but it has its charms. Agreed on your sentiments on the earlier stories, it stands out above the other silver age series at the time. I like how Romita defined the appearance of spider-man for readers and the artists followed the style he brought to life. While some may bemoan its antiquated look I view it as a consistent artwork not seen until Ultimate Spider-man.
Dude that’s so awesome, thanks for sharing! There’s always something so special about revisiting a childhood memory like that. And yeah I think Spider-Man has some of the best and most readable Silver Age material out there compared to other characters, and Romita is arguably the best Silver Age artist out there.
