- Time for a healthy taste of Swedish Melodic Death Metal with a band called Scar Symmetry and their song Holographic Universe. This is my first time hearing Scar Symmetry although I have heard of this band, I have not heard anything from them, so fans of Scar Symmetry give me the 411 on this band!
Scar Symmetry is a Swedish melodic death metal band from Avesta, formed in 2004. The band has released six albums, with seven released singles. They were signed to Nuclear Blast Records.

This album and the 2 albums previous had one singer doing all the clean and death vocals whose name is Christian Alvestam and the remaining albums after that to present has 2 singers which replaced him in which Robert Karlsson does the harsh vocals and Lars Palmqvist does the clean vocals...I love all their albums but Holographic Universe is my favorite followed by Pitch Black Progress but just narrowly...

This is all one vocalist, Christian is a monster. On top of that you have one of the best guitar players in the world in Per Nillson. Wish these guys were appreciated by everyone a little more, at least this album and the 2 prior to Christian leaving the band.

Love the reaction. Such an under-rated band. One of the best if not thee best melodic death metal band I've ever heard.
Scar Symmetry is an absolutely unique band, used to be my favorite of all time and omg they're good. Their most recent album is by far their heaviest too
also the singer has numerous other projects, such as svavelvinter, solution .45, pre-human vaults and a bunch more
A little update, as you were wondering if this band was still around: They released a new album earlier this summer so they are very much still around.
Good Bands comes from Sweden :) they're a Hidden Gem
Favorite album from these guys is Holographic Universe by far followed by Pitch Black Progress. I'm not as much of a fan of their more prog-heavy stuff, a lot of it just sounds weird; technically impressive for sure but not all that pleasant to my ear.
Top 5 songs for me (I prefer the more melodic tracks with plenty of clean vocals) would be:
1. Ghost Prototype - don't make me choose which part they're both so amazing and are among my favorite tracks from any band.
2. Dreaming 24/7 - one of the main songs that first got me into this band and genre.
3. The Illusionist
4. Timewave Zero
5. Domination Agenda - to include a track with the new vocalists.
Honorable mentions are too numerous to include, I'd just end up listing half their songs. Love this band.
Listen to Raunchy, its such a great band. Have every cd.
Death metal is a genre which sits on the outer edge of my cup of tea. Big fan of old school hard rock .... AC/DC ... that being said, I do like a few death metal song ... Amon Amarth, One Against All, Raise Your Horns .... what comes to mind. I may have liked it more as an instructional
Love me some Scar Symmetry. Wish they would finally put out the new album they announced back in 2019. Phase II − Xenotaph. Second part of a trilogy. And yes there are two singers. Robert Karlsson harsh vocals and Lars Palmqvist clean vocals.

lol if you only knew... Alvestam is one of the best vocalist of all times... in the metal world... so good he had to get replaced by 2 sep singers when he left... If you want to hear the best Scar Symmetry song with Alvestam, well check out any of the songs from the first couple albums, and if you want to hear the new singers, the best song is Neohuman... period.... Per is one of the greatest metal guitarists in the world and he has one of the highest IQ's ever...
Per filled in for Frederik Thorndahl as a touring guitarist for Meshuggah. Per is ridiculously good.

Not my cup of tea OR coffee. I kind of felt like I was at a goth funeral. Props to the musicianship but musically and vocally, it simply was not my thing. I will offer horns, though, for the mention of Shepherd's Pie....a very yummy and underrated dish! 🤘

this is not even remotely adjacent to goth in any shape or form
oh and yeah, this song is very long for no reason, not a good introductory track... Fear Catalyst would of given you an idea at the fraction of the time.
It's like the goth manifestation of mumble rap.
