I can never get over how well you describe each track as they play; you turn these videos from just "ranking all the songs" to "understanding what each song is saying," and I really appreciate that
Atomic Destroyer's music gives off the same sort of vibes as Egg Rock from SRB2. The first act has a slower but still banging tune, and then Act 2 kicks it up to a pumping, fast-paced track worthy of the final stage. The whole soundtrack is just an absolute bop and I love listening to it on my way to work in the morning.
I'd like to add a detail that may or may not be obvious. The "Knuckles" fight theme in this game is an inverted version of Stardust Speedway. I only noticed this when listening to the OST on TH-cam a few months ago. Whether this is obvious or not depends on the person, but it was not obvious to me while playing the game.
I literally knew nothing about the story, so when I first heard this I was so confused why they played Stardust Speedway for a Knuckles boss fight, like.. there's no connection. I did notice it was reversed so I thought it was probably just the melody the composer liked and wanted to somehow implement a slightly different version into the game so why not. When I later found out that Knuckles was Metal Sonic this whole time with the Actual Stardust Speedway playing during the reveal, it instantly clicked with me- I loved how clever that decision was!
And the number one, of course, Atomic Destroyer act 2. Fantastic cover from dv2. I especially appreciate that this arrangement can be listened on real hardware!
I love how you always break down songs not in terms of theory, but in terms of what the song's message is. It's a lot more easy to understand and in most cases this kind of analysis hits a lot harder due to the appeal to emotion. Your delivery always makes you sound so invested in what you're saying, too, so I can't help but be drawn to these songs even more after watching the video!
When you said the line "been down this road before" while describing the mood of Sunset Park Act 2, I half-expected you to follow it up with the line "already know the story."
It might be a stupid request but can you talk about sonic forces overclocked ? since i think this mod is worth checking it out ( btw sonic triple trouble is a very good game i enjoyed it)
@@lukemorgan6166this mod did more than just add a bunch of levels , there's a new story , soundtrack , it's nice to see what those people did with this mod to make it stand out tall from the original game that's all
Nice nod to his "in-canon" fear of lightning strikes. Sonic Mania also did this during the zone transition between Metallic Madness to Titanic Monarch.
The metal sonic theme also has a bit of sonic the fighters in there Top 2 tracks for me is sunset park act 3 and atomic destroyer act 2 100% so banging
Your analysis videos have always been top notch. There are some things that even I have never heard before! Like, Tidal Plant Act 2's groovy second half?! ABSURDLY GOOD ‼️ Keep up the great work!
Bro, you are so good at extrapolating your words when it comes to describing something that gets you excited that it gets me excited. You've made me wanna replay this game a 4th time. Even after I broke my controller getting to Final Trouble Zone for the second time.
I love how you acknowledge the actual composition alongside the tone of the track. Stuff like how the music might pan and instrument choices alongside the actual mixing of the track. Its really fun to imagine how the track was composed when listening to it.
Your ost rankings videos have giving me a lot of new appreciation for some songs that I might've slept on or forgot back in the day, I would love to see more of these even if it's from other video game franchises like mario, zelda etc.
Sunset Park Act 2 is my personal favorite. Glad it was #2 for you! And your commentary is like Alex Yard in a way. Very nice to listen to. I'd love another one of these on Sonic and the Fallen Star
would love to see more top 10's from you in general, not even just Sonic. There's a poetic flow to breaking down the why's and what's that's just so infectious, plus discovering new things is always a treat.
I really like your format for analyzing music tracks. Granted it's a top 10 video but you always do so much more with it than most. I definitely need to listen to the soundtrack in full soon!
I don’t know why but whenever you talk it sounds very good. If there is one thing I wanna hear right before I die it will be you talking about something sonic the hedgehog related. Actually if I heard the before I died I may just stay Alive so I can listen. I could watch your videos all day. You are awsome!
Another great top 10 Talwar, keep it up. I like to listen to these as I drive to and from college, or if I have my mom with me in the car. Your scripts are always well written and are a pleasure to hear.
19:05 what? no shot this is higher than Eggman Winter, it's just more drummy Turquoise... (20 seconds later at 19:23)... damn that was a fine description. The moment you said that I could picture myself chilling riding down a river in a raft with shades sipping a cool drink, or Sonic doing that. Boggles me that I couldn't see that as a big music person. Edit: Act 2 yeah that I could get behind the whole time, still not top 3, but still good, itches that side of me that loves paleontology, archeology, it invokes a sense of mystery. What lies in wait for our heroes, is there something lying in wait, a reward, a pretty gem mayhaps... or their doom. What is with all the snakes? Is this civilization lost, is that their god? It begs more questions than answers, and makes you want to keep pushing forward as you drool with the thrill and excitement... or are shedding tears out of fear. My point being ridiculously good at having that balance, presenting mystique, wonder and intrigue, as well as danger, fear, and goosebumps from the unsettling.
I have notifications on for your channel, but TH-cam failed to let me know about this upload. My disappointment was a bottomless, oblivion-filled spike-pit, but watching the video cured me. Thanks man
Glad to see someone else who considers Atomic Destroyer Act 2's theme song to be the OST's highlight. Robotnik Winter, Tidal Plant and Sunset Park Act 3 came close, but the moment I heard those opening notes, I knew this song was gonna be something special and dear god did it deliver, one of the best final level themes in all of Sonic. I think something else that should be highlighted about the Triple Trouble 16-Bit OST is how it actually nails the sound of an old Mega Drive game and makes it sound damn good, unlike the divisive "so retro" direction that Jun Senoue went with 4, the Super theme for 3&K in Origins, and Superstars on top of that, this soundtrack is the perfect showcase of just how well Noah understands the sound of the system and can make something excellent out of it. Hope his work on the Sonic Drift remake is just as good. Also please do one of these videos for Fallen Star whenever Moon Facility gets a release date, that soundtrack really deserves the spotlight.
When he starts talking about stoping the enemy with style and don't stop running, dude I want to fight for the good like an anime boy with the power of friendship. This are my favorite type of videos!!!
There's something kinda nostalgic about your top 10 lists. Such videos were more of a thing maybe a decade ago or earlier. The format itself is nothing I personally care about, but I can tell you're doing these to get your genuine feelings across, about a game/series you enjoy. Like Triple Trouble here. It's nice.
I just started playing this game, and it's so fantastic! There are so many little improvements that add up, such as squatch and stretch in the drop dash, rumble when slamming through walls, the buffed spindash and the seamless zone transitions. I'm recording it for my channel while playing, but wow, I'm blown away by the sheer quality of the game!
This game does such a good job at adapting OG Triple Trouble's OST into the style of the Genesis, and while I think some of the tracks of this game have been done by previous Genesis games In particular, Egg Zeppelin, as the level is calmer, has a hard time comparing to the faster pace of Flying Battery, a very similar stage concept... Ironically, Great Turquoise similarly compares worse to Meta Junglira 1 in my opinion, which conveys the theme in such a good way. Still, these "weaker tracks" are by no means bad, and have their own strengths. And when this game peaks it really peaks. Fang's Theme, the Boss Themes in general, Sunset Park and Atomic Destroyer... All of them are the best the Genesis style has to offer, and for good reason! They wonderfully evolve past the classics to be so unique, while still conveying that same retro feeling... Both versions of Atomic Destroyer in general might be the best Final Stage theme in the entire series, definitely in the Classics! They both have such an awesome feel to them!
I feel the acts could've been split up, some have different identities of their own. Like I LOVE and I mean *LOVE* Eggman Winter Act 1, Act 2 is... good just not as good. Meanwhile act 2 of Atomic Destroyer slaps... I think that one is my favorite, but it is really hard to pick between that and Eggman Winter. I get why you did it though, and it's fine, just I'd handle it differently, but hey... that just means more bangers for us to listen to, 20 tracks instead of 10 in a top 10... sweetness.
Im still baffled at how good this game is In terms of songs id say the final FINAL boss had my fav theme , like yeah obvious choice but man its just such a banger
I have a theory, Atomic Destroyer is part of the Death Egg. The reason is because it has the same mechanics as the Death Egg, and if it’s not the case, why is there another metal flying fortress?
Hey this is random but could you do a video on how to install mods, where to look for them, and how to play them? I'm kinda new to this and I REALLY want to learn how to play and grab some of these games. Its kinda hard finding stuff like that for some reason.
Thankfully, fan game installations are as easy as going to their home page, downloading the file (usually unzipping the folder after), and launching the application. Unlike mods which are a little more complicated. The videos of the creators will have links to the proper site in their descriptions like gamejolt for Triple Trouble.
