Jasmine, I am an art therapist and I facilitate a wonderful online art therapy group (4 years strong!). I just used this process this morning with the group and it was FANTASTIC!! Thanks!!!
I began dabbling in art therapy at home to manage anxiety and stress. Without books, I just looked for videos to guide me. This is very significant and enlightening. Thank you so much!
that was so powerful!!! The way it was framed just takes your mind out of its usual confines. I am almost seeing some wisdom in my writing that I didn't know I had😂
I had an unexpected result from this exercise, i even made a surprised snort after understanding what i wrote. I got kinda scolded by my drawing that i'm worrying too much and disturbing my heart (who is also the drawing), and that the heart is a "he", and that he feels quite okay under all the pressure i have in my life right now, because he is made to withstand. I was told that i'm annoying him and should laze around and look at the sceneries. This was kinda funny and weird, but my mood for sure had improved
Thanks for this exercise, it made me realize that I am actually not doing as good as I thought I was. Literally started bawling my eyes out when I had a conversation with my circle.
Thank you for sharing your resources and knowledge, but what I appreciated the most was that you shared YOUR PERSONAL thoughts, feelings and emotions with us. As horrible as it is looking vulnerable sharing your experiences and emotions , it helps me to realise that most of us, (if not all of us) have a reason to do this type of exercise. I’m really hoping to do your exercises and I am sending you warm love and gratitude.
I'm brazilian art therapist and discovered your video and i'm loving. sure i'll see all that you posted. congratulations and thank you so much for your pretty work.
I can’t believe how intense and full of hurt my emotional circle was. Thanks for your video - I am going to keep working through things. Please keep them coming.
hi! thank you for this video, this technique actually managed to stop me from overplanning & perfectionism, which is an achievement, and Some Stuff started moving. Thanks!
I enjoy layering the new drawing on top of the old one, kind of like rewriting a story. So in this case, I would take the drawing of the bubble and continue that blue over and outside the black line until it looked more like a freeform shape, and really emphasise that bright light in the centre, expand it, even off the edge of the page! Really let myself empower myself to let that part shine as that's what the feeling seems like it wants to do... just another perspective!
This was a wonderful and emotional exercise. It felt a little freeing to get some of those negative feelings out and look at them. It was strange at first thinking of how to "talk" to the image, but it quickly felt natural and insightful. Thanks for sharing this.
I want to try some creative things in my therapy and saw this. I tried it now, quite emotional. I may try this tomorrow with one of my clients. Nicely explained, especially as you showed your example. 💚🧡💙
Thank you so much for sharing your techniques, they are juist exactly what I didn’t know I needed! such an amazing, intuitive way to connect to our subconscious, our emotions and feelings and bypassing the urge to constantly analyse. You are beautiful as well ❤️
Thanks for sharing. I too enjoy creative/self-expressive exercises. There is so much we can learn about ourselves using some creativity. Kindly, Craig.
Hi, I am an ABT practitioner too, thank you so much, this is a beautiful activity and i will certainly incorporate this one for reflections for self and clients. All the best to you
Wonderful experience - I was just going to watch and take some notes but felt compelled right away to try it and pause as I went. It was well explained and a useful exercise, thank you.
Thankyou for your share, its easy to follow, and the video music is gentle, I felt comfortable when following yr painting. At last I successfully drew my painting and noticed my inner thought. The questions were wise and good, and the answers gave me sweet instructions. Thankyou again...
I've just heard if this therapy recently and I'm very interested to learn more about it and hopefully gain some healing from this but trying similar practices...I don't "get" any information from my body...I feel like I'm the only one experiencing this...I never hear of anyone else having the same issue. I appreciate any suggestions!
Hi! I am in my final year of Gad school for my LMHC with a focus in art therapy. Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). I am curious about the quotation statement about not focusing on "good quality art". How do you address this as a facilitator when clients hit you with, "I can't do ar,. I am not an artist". That divide between expressive and fine art is chasm for some folks.
Did you intentionally draw the angel on the left of the circle or was it intuitive? Same question for the small boy with the blue cape and the people crowed on the right side of the drawing.
Hello:) Thank you for sharing such a beautiful video. :) I would love to know where you went to school and whether you received a degree specific to art therapy, if you're open to sharing about that. I am still exploring career options, and do want to include creativity and connection with people in whatever path I walk down. :)

Something about it not being art for others to see, but art for them to feel? 🤔
It is a very good art therapy exercise..thanks, i would like to see much more.
