  • How to make you own Wi-Fi range extender box for mobile fishfinders, demonstrated by Ben. You can extend the range up to 140 meters with standard antennas and over 500 meter with directional antennas. Easy to make, a must have for all mobile fishfinder users !!

    ik heb dit geprobeerd met een vexilar sp200 en de TP-Link TL-WA901ND in repeater modus. Maar wanneer ik dan met de telefoon verbonden ben met de tp-link krijg ik in de vexilar app de melding dat hij de fishfinder niet kan vinden. wat doe ik verkeerd?

    Met vriendelijke groet,
    Hetzelfde gebeurt mij met de Deeper en een TPLINK WA801ND. De applicatie detecteert nooit de Deeper.
    Kun je een video plaatsen met de exacte instellingen?
    Bedankt !!

    It works with a eminent router (em4571). it only needs the same ssid with _EXT and multibridge and that’s it.

    • @vcernobai
      @vcernobai 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      What do you mean by "with _EXT"? a postfix to the SSID name?

    • @vandamgaming515
      @vandamgaming515 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cernobai Victor the ssid of your deeper with _EXT attached to it no spaces

      @@vandamgaming515 I have just tried that with my Deeper PRO+ and it doesn't work. Once you change the name of the SSID to something different than "Deeper PRO+ XXXX" where X is an alpha-numeric character, the Fish Deeper app on Android doesn't find anymore the sonar. Moreover, I tried to sniff the TCP packets by using the "Packet capture" app on Android. I have connected directly to the sonar (no intermediary extenders) and once I turn on the packet capturing, the Fish Deeper doesn't want to scan anymore. If I turn if off and retry, everything works fine. Looks like Deeper guys tried hard to protect against reverse engineering.

      Worth noting, that I have tried as well to name the extender's access point with the same SSID as my Deeper. No luck. The Fish Deeper app seems to able to establish a connection to the sonar and read at least its battery level, but it won't start the scanning.

    All very interesting but I have some questions...
    At 1:07 _ what is that white box with blue led on the left? Is the router power supply with the USB voltage converter?
    At 1:42 _ what is the DHCP? And the SSID? Sorry but we are not all electrical engineers...
    Since I imagine these things interest many (and not only me ...), as already requested by others, you could make another video with explanations while you perform the operations.
    I for one would be infinitely grateful to you.
    Thanks a lot.

      Sorry for the delay. The white box with the blue led is just a power bank which acts as power supply. DHCP means, that the router does give IP addresses to clients. Since the Fish Finder acts already as DHCP you need to disable DHCP on the router. SSID is the name of the wireless network. They have to be identical. These are just some simple basics everybody should know who setup networks. There are many tutorials online how to setup Wifi Routers and what these terms mean. It's better not to show it on a specific type of Fish Finder since the configuration could be different depending on the model you use.

    Hallo, klappt das auch wirklich zuverlässig?

      Ja das klappt sehr zuverlässig. Die Verbindung ist wesentlich stabiler als lediglich über das FishFinder eigene Wlan.

    Hi, i have a deeper pro+ but i can't setting my router TP Link wr840n. IP of deeper is 192.168.10.2
    Can you help me?
    Thanks

    • @ndtackle
      @ndtackle 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your router needs to have the same SSID and password as the Deeper.
      The IP needs to be inside the same range and subnet.

    Please see below a full guide on what is needed and how you change the settings to achieve over 200 Meters.
    You need to buy the below 3 items and have access to a computer to change the settings of the router,
    1. www.tp-link.com/…/home-netwo…/wifi-router/tl-wr940n/
    2. www.ebay.co.uk/…/DC-DC-Converter-Char…/193426278279… (Make sure you buy the 9V version)
    3. Power bank of your choice.
    Guide
    Step 1 - On your computer disconnect from your home network, depending how you are connected you can either turn off your WiFi or take out the LAN cable.
    Step 2 - Power on the Tplink WR940N router and plug in the supplied LAN cable to LAN port 1 and then in to your computer. Wait a couple of minutes for your router to get a connection with your computer. Some times this is instant and sometimes it will take a minute or 2.
    Step 3 - Open up your web browser, In my case I use chrome. In the web address bar put in tplinkwifi.net or you can also use 192.168.0.1 this will direct you to a log in screen.
    Step 4 - Input admin for the username and admin for the password and click login.
    Step 5 - Once you have logged in navigate to the left hand side of the screen and click on working mode, then change the working mode to range extender and click save. It will then ask you to confirm the selection and warn you that the router will reboot. Press ok and wait for the router to reboot.
    Step 6 - Once the router has finished rebooting you will be faced with the login screen of the router again, input admin for both username and password and login again.
    Step 7 - Once logged in navigate to the left hand side of the screen and click wireless, once wireless has been clicked you will be on the "connect to network" screen.
    Step 8 - Power on your echo sounder, In my case I'm using a deeper pro +. I have placed the deeper in a bowl of water so it powers on you can also unscrew the top and connect a power cable which also keeps the device on. Once your device is powered on go back to your computer and click the survey button.
    Step 9 - Once you have pressed the survey button a new window will appear and it will come up with all networks in range of your router, click connect next to the device you want to extend. This will then take you back to the connect to network screen and the SSID and MAC address will have been filled. You then need to go down to the password and change to the password that is needed for your device, for my deeper its 12345678. Then click save and wait for 30 seconds whilst the settings are saved.
    Step 10 - Navigate to the left hand side of the screen and click extended network, add "_EXT" to the end of the SSID and click save. Wait another 30 seconds for the settings to be saved and then click off the internet browser.
    Step 11 - Search on your phone/tablet for the extended WiFi network with "_EXT" on the end. Both SSID's will show up but you need to connect to the extension network to achieve the extended range. You then connect to the relevant app as you usually would.
    Don't forget to connect back to your home network so you can continue using the internet as normal again on your computer.
    I have listed the routers that has been tested so far below, if you manage to test another router with success please message me and I will add to the list.
    Please note a lot of routers will work but the steps might vary slightly so I have put this guide up for the TPlink WR940N only.
    FAQ
    1. Does the router go in the boat?
    No the router stays with you on the bank.
    2. Do I need to modify the deeper or raymarine?
    No modifications are needed, by just using the router you will achieve 200m+, this has been tested to 200m+ but we are quite confident it will go further.
    3. What routers is this method compatible with?
    We have personally tested the below,
    TPlink-WR940N
    TPlink-WR841N
    Edimax-BR6228nS V3
    4. Do I need different antennas?
    No the antennas that come with the router are perfectly fine.
    5. Do I need any other extras?
    No you only need the items listed.

      My phone only connects to deeper in the app via original SSID and not extended SSID. Any ideas?

    • @lorenzostam9537
      @lorenzostam9537 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have the same. I can connect with the _ext app on my Phone but when i open the fish deeper app it keeps connecting with only the original ssid.
