    Hocker's kick is devastating. I honestly don't think there's more than a handful of people in the world who can close faster than him, for indoors at least. We'll see how he shifts to outdoors later this year.

      Centro kicks as fast as Hocker, but only after taking it easy for a kilometer X)

    • @weezadam
      @weezadam 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Perhaps but Centro is not in 3:50 shape at this point. I know his 3:40 1500m was a tune up but at this point I don’t see Centro qualifying for the team let alone beating Hocker

    • @jamesmcnaughton9939
      @jamesmcnaughton9939 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I haven’t seen him race much but I wonder if he can keep that crazy kick after a faster 800. Took them through at 2 flat but to be fair it seems like no one goes out quick now

    • @jmcconnor01
      @jmcconnor01 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @big centro would say 'a win is a win is a win'
      and the way hocker races, i'm pretty sure he would agree
      but looking at the way hocker races, and even at his youth/inexperience, I don't think centro would be able to 'move hocker around' and control the pace the way centro is used to doing

    • @jmcconnor01
      @jmcconnor01 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @big athletes definitely fluctuate in fitness greatly, but centro's 330 was six years ago, and his 350 mile was seven years ago. he is 31 now and the clock is absolutely ticking on him being able to recapture that level of fitness.
      i know this is mostly a hypothetical exercise in comparing one athlete likely before his prime and another athlete likely past his prime in mile-ish comparisons, but centro can only beat hocker in a tactical race if hocker decides to run centro's tactical pace.
      if they're both going for a fast time in the same race, it would absolutely be a great race, but the clock is ticking and twelve years difference works both ways

      @benanastasoff8980 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s a championship, not a time trial. A lot of these guys going for wins in championships are doubling or even tripling in other events to score points for their team. Hocked for example had a 3000 after this which he also won. Kiptoo races like an athlete with a lot less experience than he actually has. He’s been beaten many times because of his aggressive starts. Hocker has shown great racing maturity in expending only as much energy as he needs to win everything he’s entered in.
