  • Cole Hocker joins the Sweat Elite podcast at Nike HQ Chicago.
    Cole Hocker is a middle distance runner based in Oregon, USA. Cole placed 6th at the Tokyo Olympic Games in the 1500m at just 20 years of age and has a bright future ahead of him having recently signed a contract with Nike after competing for the University of Oregon for just 1 year.
    In this conversation with Cole we talk about his decision to turn pro, insights into his training and coach, what he believes he's capable of running over the 1500m (time), his interest in music and more.

    Feels like yesterday this guy was in my theater tech class in high school. Didn’t really know him but he seemed very nice and friendly

    his top end speed is awesome , needs speed endurance and build his tank. If the final was run like Rio, he'd be a genuine chance, but thats rare

      Hocker had basically been in peak shape since indoor season and raced very often

      @@nathanieldixon806 Same for most of the runners in the Diamond league, especially the finals. Olympic medalists. Curious if his coach shut him down or he was just done due to the intensity of travel/trials/NCAAs. Wish they would have asked him.

    Cole is such a talented runner but the questions were poor fans what to go deep inside the mind of runners and what its take to be among the elites

      @@arceus54321 relax man he was in a tough spot. No one really wants to risk adverse side effects right before biggest race of their life (Olympics). Yes some people took the vaccine anyways and were fine but it’s hard to blame a guy for just playing it safe. I’m sure now I’m the off season he’ll get the vaccine soon with no major races on the horizon

      ​@@philiple9325 he could have gotten the vaccine in Oregon in April, well before August. He made a selfish choice, ignored science, & fed into harmful narratives when people are being given all sorts of misinformation around vaccination. He also put anybody he came into contract with at risk. Tokyo had low vaccination rates at the time of the Olympics. Going over there unvaccinated is something we can blame the guy for.
