    A simple fix and tidy up for someone for not a lot of money . Then you have a working pickup truck . Some people can see potential , others cant . This will easily outlive any of todays modern trucks , if its looked after and cleaned up . Ive been in motors for 50 years . Served apprenticeship from 15 , over 64 now . . Hope your father is recovering well jay , send my personal blessings to the whole family . Keep fighting pop . Never give up . We old school guys are made of all the right stuff . .

    That paint scheme! Can’t decide if it’s tricolor old man tan - or - two tone doodie brown.
    That paper under the hood holds all the dates to every time something “custom” was added. Think of it as provenance.

    Thanks for the anonymous shoutout at 7:18 Jay, I appreciate it! \(^-^)/ Been here for over 2 years when you were 1.4k ish and had THE ROLLING DEAD Cadillac Hearse that you since scrapped.
    Interested in the radio tho, is she an 8 track? You'll know if you poke thru and find a flap where the radio stations are at. ^^
    If you're taking the radio out, I'd like the wiring harness and the faceplate/knob around it if ya can. If you do, I promise to make a revival video! ^-^
    As for the rest of the truck, it would be nice to build her back to a farm truck, although you're gonna need a lot of patience with the wiring/interior! Good summer project?? But you need to finish your S10 FIRST, so... as long as the engine is healthy (sounds like it) and the wiring/fluids aren't jumbled/leaking go for it! ^^ Again, thanks for the "anonymous" shoutout Jay, let us know what you're gonna do!

      HEY NK.that radio in the C10 Square body came thru as a radio delete, it seems the dealer installed a fender antenna when all fact radio trucks had the antenna in the W/S . Harness from the factory can be found in any GM product of that era, Vega Harnesses even fit Chevelles . Pont, etc of that vintage .not a 8 track although I had a fact AM/8 track from a Monte Carlo ........

    • @nathankim7664
      @nathankim7664 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@gertraba4484 That's why I love GM, so many interchangeable parts. The 70s wiring harness are totally different than the era after that with the new plastic combination. You're right about the non 8 track, twas hard to see with 360p quality. Happens with Jay's fresh videos lol Been tryin to grab any fact 8 tracks as I can as they're rare, but not too valuable as the format hasn't reached the hipster wormhole... yet

    I believe GM introduced the HEI ignition sometime in the mid 1970s, so the distributor in this 1979 truck is likely factory.

    I drive a 75 C-20 custom deluxe camper special and mine is a little rougher looking than that.well my rear bumpers straight. But she has been in the family and a daily driver since Dad bought her new in Sept of 74 she just hit 64444.9 for the sixth time.
    She looks old and tired sitting on her 35x12.50x16.5 BFG T/A's and chrome rims , the six inch body lift confuses people who think she is a K not a C. But under the hood she is spotless, and there is a pretty little orange and chrome small block that started life as a 74 350 4 bolt main truck engine.
    Now a 383 stroker with twin turbos. I think the header and purple horneys give it away she ain't stock, if they don't it might be the blow off valve,
    For shits and giggles I just blue dotted the tail lights cause she's a classic. And it makes the tail lights stand out more cause that's all your going to see after I blow your doors off. Square Body's never die, they just get another rebuild.

      All old Chrysler/Ford/GM cars,trucks,vans had the high beam switch where they should be ,on the floor just like that ! My 68 Charger RT has the switch there too..On some models up until the early 1990's but rare then..mainly rear drive cars and trucks,that were of older models..the newer stuff then all went with the stupid style they all have now.

    Hello Jay Smart it is restorable. Have you ever had someone scrap an old mustang mowett riding lawn mower at your scrap yard . They don't make them anymore but they are not that rare they made alot of them and there is still a lot of them left. If a person restored one of those old lawn tractors they will not make a profit they would take a loss because the old mustang mowett riding lawn mower don't bring much at auction fully restored. That he perfect sound good too not bad . Hate the old truck is all gone tho that body is really just to much and all of the rigging that's been done I wouldn't even try to fix the body or truck about only things are good is engine and trans

    Manual brakes and Power steering was popular in the 70's. My neighbours 77 c20 was the same, my grandfathers 76 nova was also power steering manual brakes. Not all that unusual if you consider that manual brakes where still somewhat prevalent in the early 70's. When you are used to manual brakes, paying extra for power brakes made no sense, power steering on the other hand, all those parking lot moves with manual steering put muscles on your arms, and paying for power steering offered some value for your option dollar.
