Your channel is quickly becoming my favorite woodworking channel on TH-cam. My kind of humor and legitimately useful tutorials and ideas. I bought the plans for the valet and I'm currently building a slightly modified version. Thanks for your hard work!
Nice job Drew... Your dry humor is infectious & quite frankly I think it is a natural stress reliever. The French Cleat System is wonderful & quite functional too. I am about to put up 7" shiplap boards horizontally in my small basement workshop & you have given me some great ideas moving forward with respect to organizing my shops power tools, hand tools & odds & ends. As you already stated, the beauty of this system is that it gives you the ability to rearrange stuff at your leisure. Well done... Thank you, Bill on the Hill... :-)
Your method for spacing the Forstner bits was pure genius. I would have never thought of such a simple and effective way to lay out the bits. Also thank you for demonstrating the old school method of corner radius layout. That would have made your shop teacher proud.
I'm just starting my woodworking journey with my first major project, and I've been going through YT watching whatever videos seem pertinent. I am so glad I watched this video. It can be frustrating to make a mistake, or to realize a plan isn't working they way you thought it would. Your video takes these events in stride instead of leaving them on the editing room floor. They made me laugh, but they also showed me that even much more experienced woodworkers run into the same kinds of problems I have. You also showed some great techniques I'm eager to try. Subbed, and thank you!
My evening has been made! I'm just a lady who has finally purchased a shed and now the fun begins.... took a break from all other DIY vid's & decided to watch some shelving projects. Shelving excites me! What a BONUS it has been to happen across this video. Fixing to hit the subscribe button now. Aerodynamic 😂 ahhh, so many tid bits of pure delight✔
I think what makes the buffalo comment so damn perfect is that I was not even close to expecting it. I wish I had cedar 4x4’s just hanging around in my garage.
Thanks for this video! I watch a lot of your videos, and you crack me up. Big I'm just starting out and as much as I enjoy your videos, most of them are beyond me right now. I'm starting to set up my shop and this video gave my a lot of good ideas
The bloopers at the end were THE BEST. Sometimes TH-cam woodworkers look flawless-like they have it all together. It can be a little disheartening. But it’s nice to know that even the pros are capable of..err..’happy accidents’.. 😆😆
Drew, you had me laughing so loud! So… many… jokes, plus I just enjoy watching you work. The buffalo being born was one of my favorite moments in the video, but you doing all that math in your head was a close second. Well done sir!
In tears and not able to breathe after the Buffalo comment. I’ve never ever hit the “bell” to be notified of a new video by a TH-camr until NOW. Thank you for the great content.
I'm in love with this method of tool management. In my future wood shed/shop, I want to devote a wall to this... So many options! And cheaper to make than most other systems of tool hanging. Awesome.
Drew, your work is always excellent. I've been thinking about a French cleat system in the shop in order to keep often used items and tools nearer to where I am working. This video was just enough to get me moving on it and build the system. Thanks so much for your great videos.
Hola! 🖐Another cool video, I like the balance of how to and technique with humor and oopsies :D The Widowmaker 1000, aka the blade holder was really cool.🤩 Take care and have a good one, Adios! 👊
This video is ridiculously satisfying! Between your creativity, your lovely calming voice, and your fantastic nerdy sense of humor, your channel is definitely one of my favorites! (Between you, Pocket83 and Steve Ramsey, I feel like I’ve got a set of inspirational nerd-gurus to keep me inspired at all times!). May your future be bright!
❤️the outtakes! I'm new to woodworking and this big project (with only vague plans) ended up put together, tested, dismantled and reassembed--so many times! You are very encouraging by sharing!
Good one Drew !! Good thing you caught the short screws before you had everything hung on it😳 Kaboom!!! French cleats sure make the shop well organized . 👍👍
I love the French Cleat system, as you say it's so versatile. I really look forward to getting notifications of your videos, not only are they good, and fun to listen to, those funny things that you say through them, but i also love the way you make woodworking a fun thing to do and i enjoy having a laugh at the out takes at the end. Well done and keep up these great videos that you are doing. Barry (ENG)
Hi Drew, this is the first of your videos I have watched. How impressed I am with your technique, use of tools, humour..I have just moved house and setting up my workshop, you have truly inspired me, I tell you it’s going to be as neat as yours. Thank you very much. I’m now your loyal follower.
Drew This is the first time I've ever seen any of your videos. I absolutely love it! Love the way you work and I love your sort of tools. Plus you're funny! Thanks for giving me something to smile about. Marcel
Nice work Drew, lots of useful little ideas in here. Now if you'll excuse me, I feel compelled to go watch Ace Ventura, When Nature Calls for some reason.
Love your “warped mind.” I would love to have the room you do, I’m in my garage but doing okay since it’s my hobby. Thanks for including the Buffalo footage...never experienced that before.
Sorry about endless comments: I love your classic Craftsman Table Saw. I am restoring TWO of them which I believe are right before and right after yours in release. A Craftsman 100 and a 113.280090 I think. Cast iron tops, one with cast iron wings and the newer with stamped. Contractor motor and pulley type which I LOVE! The arbors still revolve with virtually zero friction. They both need better fences like yours. Kudos. QUOTE CHAD B: "Funniest woodworking channel on TH-cam. Nice work sir!" to the max.
Yes I like the saw too but it lacks in a few areas... 1) I wish that motor wouldn't raise above the table surface when tilting the blade to 45 degrees. This means I have to take off my outfeed table whenever I'm cutting at this angle. 2) There's no riving knife. I'd appreciate the added safety that one would provide. and 3) There's no dust collection... at all. Right now I just have a box that catches the majority but it still gets everywhere. Would be nice to have an encapsulated blade assembly with vacuum port like the newer contractor saws. But all in all... I can't really complain. I got the whole thing for just $200... Beismeyer fence and all!
I enjoyed the making of your tool holders video with the french cleats. I am currently attempting to do the same. Your ideas are great. Love the outtakes
I have so many ‘small’ tools in bins, boxes and 6 deep on shelves, this system is my next project. Really useful and as usual re run just so my kids and I can laugh along. Thanks drew
Alright you have convinced me to use French cleat! So Drew; instead of doing the math when trying to make any number of equal spaces, just lay a ruler or tape measure across the work diagonally. Say you want six equal spaces use a distance on your measuring device that is divisible by six, in this case say 12” or something metric as long as you can divide it by six. Burn an inch for accuracy , put the 1 “ mark on one side of the work and the 13” mark on the other then mark every two inches across the board and viola your board is divided into six equal spaces. It doesn’t mater how wide the board is as long as you pick a distance that will reach across the board diagonally. Thanks for the info on the French cleats!
Entertaining as usual. It is a joy watching you. You are really missing your calling, not sure what that calling is but you may be missing it. Thank whomever for sandpaper. Spencer
hey fish! African buffalo huh? lol nice vid I think you fully have made up my mind for my new cabinets or cleats for my new shop, goin cleats thanks as always. hope you don't mind calling you Fish
Haha thanks! If you’re on instagram, tag me in some pics once you build out your cleats so I can see. And you’re not the first to call me Fish... haha it’s a common nickname of mine.
Drew, this was one of the best shop organization videos I have seen in a long time. I'm saving this one and probably going to use most of them in my shop. I use French cleats as well, but these ideas are super helpful. Thanks buddy!
Fisher's Shop Been enjoying your videos since back when we chatted about restoring hand planes. Restored any lately? How are those ones holding up. Hope you are doing well my friend. - The Artist Formerly Known As "DIY Dillon"
Oh I definitely remember! You've been here since the beginning. I actually only ended up restoring 2 of those hand planes so far. To do it right, it's a LOT of work. Plus, I just don't find myself using the other hand planes. I usually reach for the little block planes or the Sweetheart that I restored. I might end up selling the others or just letting them sit where they are until I get wiser in my ways and learn when to use them properly. :)
Great video! I love the combination of practical work shop ideas and horrific Dad-jokes. Glad to know I’m not the only one whose brain functions on that absurd level.
In March I moved into my first house. I went to a large hardware store that rhymes with bows, and bought two shelving units for the garage. They were cheap plastic ones. They sucked. Now that I’ve realized this I’m going to do it the right way.
Drew, if you get yourself an Engineer's scale (in addition to an Architect's scale), you don't ever have to figure out the "7/10ths" of an inch. Use the "10" side and it's already marked off (10 divisions per inch). A good Engineer's tri-scale will have 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60 divisions/sides to make it super easy to divide up and mark off.
If you really want to organize your spray cans, grab some beer six pack holders and stuff them in there. Then its just grab and go for whatever you need. Also works great for engine/auto supplies. No more back and forth to the lawn mower. Keep up the good work!
Some great ideas for the tool holders - I think I’m going to do something like you did for the saw blades for my handsaws. Quick tip on easily splitting a board into equal segments: Just draw a diagonal that is an even multiple of what you want to divide, and drop 90 degree lines perpendicular. i.e. say you have a 6 inch board, and you want to divide it into 7 equal segments. Go from the lower corner with a ruler at 0 on the left raising up the right part along the right edge until the ruler is at 7. Now mark 0,1,..., 6,7. Then use a square to draw vertical lines up to each of those points on the diagonal. You’ll have divided the board into 7 segments w/o any math. No NASA rocket science degrees required.
Eryx... damn skippy on the Metric. I am considering dumping ENGLISH for Metric in all measurments. A long and arduous process - but saves a time like shown here - in dividing spaces.
Good stuff. I found your channel doing research on the Rikon bandsaw. After seeing your top flight skills I'm glad I used your expert advice to buy it :)
I can't help chuckling - you have everything on a cleat - It does help me think -but I am also thinking that my wall of shelves is storing much more - thumbs up though - I have room for some cleats
You have the same combination belt/disc sander as I have, however, your neighbor didn't steal the backstop; a part that I can NOT find available anywhere online. I'm new to woodworking, and ignorant of metal working, but I fear my only option is to get some metal strips and find ways to bend and drill it to create my own....
lol love the out takes... And you will know if you used screws that were too short elsewhere -- you'll hear it around 2:00 am some morning... I hope you never hear that sound... if you do it'll probably make you pucker where you don't want to pucker... Great video!
My secretary asked me what was so funny as I was laughing about the "Stevie Wonder using a bandsaw" comment. Dude, you are hilarious and a breath of fresh air when it comes to woodworking videos!!!
I like french cleats and plan on making more this summer. I do have a problem with a few coming off when I quickly grab for a tool. Was thinking of putting a single screw in those to hold them in place. They would still be easy to move around if needed. Anyone else have that problem? Any solutions? Maybe making the holders bigger and heavier. A knob that tightens down?
Haha, thanks! Yeah I had my resaw blade on and it's such a pain to swap out the blades... at least it is if you do it properly. I figured I would butcher the curve and just clean it up on the sander. Thanks, Monty! :)
Good video! Informative and funny. Thanks for the ideas. What tool is that you are making the “L” brackets for “4:07”? Ahh ok.... so the tool is a brand. Can you provide some information on it? Always enjoy your video’s. Ron
I love the craftsmanship, but the funny comments while building makes your videos better than the rest!

Haha yeah. Luckily I wasn’t that far into the project and I could fix the error pretty easily. Thanks, Bronk!
Love your videos! Your humor is spot on and your bloopers make me feel like I’m not the biggest noob!
Another amazing video! Always a good day when you look on you tube and see you've made a video.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to use this cleat system myself. Thanks for the video and the bloopers at the end.
You're welcome, Damon. Thanks for watching!
Yes! A new video from Fisher´s shop. My saturday morning is saved! =)
If you used metric you wouldn´t need Siri ;)
Haha, I know, right?! But then I'd have to start drinking tea and saying things like "Cheerio, ya cheeky buggah!"
Eryx... damn skippy on the Metric. I am considering dumping ENGLISH for Metric in all measurments.
A long and arduous process - but saves a time like shown here - in dividing spaces.
I love the french cleat system as well.

Great Idea think I will make some for my loft workshop sure would be handy and make some room cheers from Scotland
Thanks, Bert! Wish I could take credit for dreaming up the system. It'll definitely save you some room. Thanks for watching! :)
Thoroughly enjoyed watching this video. Informative and very creative. Thanks!

Great vid. That buffalo comment as I see your popping out about made me piss myself. Great stuff mate. 👍
Same here, no plans no drawing just keep measuring and cutting whatever works best😆
Dude, you were cracking me up. And the project was pretty awesome too.
I can't help chuckling - you have everything on a cleat - It does help me think -but I am also thinking that my wall of shelves is storing much more - thumbs up though - I have room for some cleats
Awesome video man, you always make me laugh. Keep up the good work and I hope to see videos more often from you.
Thank you, Jake! :)
Just recently found your channel and I love it. I hope you continue to make vids, great job man!
Good Job Drew. Love you'r funny comments 🤣👍
Great video. Over the next few weeks I will be turning my garage into a dedicated wood shop. I will be stealing many of your ides. Thanks!
Sounds good! Have fun, man!

Love the humor! Quirky but very funny!
lol love the out takes... And you will know if you used screws that were too short elsewhere -- you'll hear it around 2:00 am some morning... I hope you never hear that sound... if you do it'll probably make you pucker where you don't want to pucker...
Great video!
Haha, thankfully I identified the short screw problem early in the project. I don't want the 2am crash either... I need my beauty sleep.
Great outtakes!

I've had a couple instances where this was a problem as well. The screw idea works perfectly and will solve your issue.
Nice band saw work there, Stevie. :)
Haha, thanks! Yeah I had my resaw blade on and it's such a pain to swap out the blades... at least it is if you do it properly. I figured I would butcher the curve and just clean it up on the sander. Thanks, Monty! :)
Came out really well. Video work top notch, too. Nice!
Good video! Informative and funny. Thanks for the ideas. What tool is that you are making the “L” brackets for “4:07”? Ahh ok.... so the tool is a brand. Can you provide some information on it? Always enjoy your video’s.

My wife got it for me as a Christmas present from a guy that custom builds them on Etsy. I'll have to track down his info before I can post a link.
Fisher's Shop Great, thanks Fisher. Have a good one.
I really enjoy your channel. Keep up the great work!
Thank you!
Hilarious too! Keep the bloopers coming
Good job, Mr. Fisher, you showed a few mistakes in the out takes... I appreciate the point of making it clear that you're human and not infallible.
