    Out of the 2,873 different videos on TH-cam for flip top tool carts, yours is the only only one that:
    1. Has integrated power that remains connected
    2. Is overflowing with absolutely hysterical commentary.
    Your videos, this one in particular, has humorous comments so often that I have learned that I cannot consume any beverage while watching your videos. No matter how many times I have seen them, there are some comments that still make me laugh out loud. The neighbors dog house being dismantled for the plywood, awesome... Dude, you have such a twistedly great sense of humor. And that is written in the greatest of admiration....
    Like what you do very much. Thanks 😊

      @@FishersShop I second Peter's comment... This second Peter wholeheartedly agrees. This video earned a new subscriber today. As I am rebuilding a home shop now, for the first time in maybe 10 years, inspiration and clever engineering like this is what I need most.

      I also agree with the comments of the 2 Peter guys and with the others. I also is the only flip cart that I have seen (though admittedly my search has not been ALL inclusive) that has a positive stop for the final position. Very needed and convenient detail.

      Tim Hinman I agree, the cord management is next level. All these carts seem to have the ridgid sander (which I have too!), which has all that loose stuff. Maybe we should invent some hold downs for the stuff! Also, I really like the positive stops, and I realized that if you purposely shift the weight to the back, it’ll hold itself on the stop, both ways. Great vid, I’m gonna check out your channel!

    I slipped and accidentally bought a Rigid belt spindle sander and then had to build this thing. What a great project to work on. Only had one issue, my Delta Planner was about 3/4 of an inch too tall so i had to figure that out. I could have taken off the crank handle to let it rotate all the way but figure I'd lose a part or two. So I ended up cutting off the top 6 inches and splicing a 3 inch piece in the middle of the sides with glue and pocket screws. It worked out pretty well. For those considering this build they should keep the height of the tools in mind when doing it.
    Thanks for the opportunity on solving a space issue in the shop and all the great videos you put out. Time to get busy with those jig plans I got from you.

  • @obeejaunww6638

    Made your Flip Cart, but a little different. I only wanted to mount my Dewalt planner. The main modification were the initial cuts as the overall width would be 32". After getting a 3rd grader to help me with the math, I followed the plans and it came out great. I only needed the one tool so the flip side is a good work or outfeed table. I did put in a counter weight so it would be easier to pull up the 100lb planner. Keep the honest humor coming, Thanks Drew!

    • @kenmulvihill1230
      @kenmulvihill1230 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Obee: What did you use for a counter weight. I have the same planer and was planning to build this cart. I hadn't considered how to pull it back up. I'm not as young as I used to be. Thanks.

    • @obeejaunww6638
      @obeejaunww6638 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kenmulvihill1230 Ken, I'm not as young as I used to be either, so I used an old lead window counter weight. Approx 45#, these were used in windows back in the day(way back). This one was about 15"Lx3"Dx2"H with holes on each end tucked away in the space where the power was. Just one of those things lying around the shop that I had not used for years but could not throw away. Sorry, I know this doesn't help much but keep looking around you will find something that will work. UPDATE! As we all know "good enough" never is, I purchased a Rikon 6" Jointer that has a 30" table which mounted perfectly opposite the planner so I removed the counter weight. Good Woodworking to you and all. Obeejaun

    I bought a second grinder and thought a flip top work stand would be ideal. I started to design my own and then thought somebody has already done this. I watched the Fisher shop video and was impressed with his ideas and purchased the plans for five dollars. When I downloaded the plans I was expecting an exploded view of the workstand and a cut list. The detailed explanation that was included with the plans was outstanding so much more than I expected. If Fisher shop has any more plans that I’m interested in I will certainly buy them in a heartbeat.

    I LOVE your sense of humor in your videos!! (Not to mention the quality of the work you do). You need to give us advance warning at times though. I spewed my Bombay Sapphire martini all over my computer screen when you described the technique for an electrician to install a new plug on the cord! It reminded me of another old joke: "What's the difference between Voltage and Amperage?" Voltage is what you feel when you stick your finger into a hot light socket. Amperage is what you feel when you stick your finger into a hot light socket... while standing barefoot in a puddle of water!

    Love the video and the idea of integrated power. One suggestion I would make is to have the opening in the support a bit larger so that IF you have to change out a tool, you can get its cord inside without having to do any disassembly.

    I have watched this video several times and I still get a chuckle. I like this design the best of all that I have seen and will be making this one soon. I am going to change one part...instead of an over size flange (3/4") for a bearing I thought a flange the same size (1/2") and bore/drill out the internal threads to where the pipe rides on the flange and not the plywood. One more thing...your out takes could have been filmed in my shop (cleaned up of course)...retired US Navy here...lol

    Just purchased your PDF. Quite complete and well worth the cost. Looking forward to the build for a drill press and band saw. I used Sketchup to reproduce your design and found that I can't use the drawer because the band saw is too tall. But since your design rotates just 180 degrees, it allows using stabilizing gussets instead.

    I built this for my shop. When I started it, I was going to put my Ridgid sander like yours on it with a 10 inch bandsaw. I soon found out that in order to do so the working surface of the bandsaw would be too high for anyone else working in my shop. So I also "slipped" and bought a 12 inch disc sander. I chose to add a power strip with 4 outlets and two usb coming out of the other side of the pipe. I have to say the plans were very well laid out. I enjoyed building this and will build a couple more for other tools. I think I can still make one for the bandsaw if I eliminate the drawer and reinforce the lower corners with triangles. Thanks for showing the human side of working in a shop.

    I was just thinking about getting, literally, the same two sanders after we move in a few months. I was starting to think about how all the bits would fall out after it was flipped over, then I got distracted by something else before I thought of a solution. You've saved me trouble. Nice build.

    I just finished my build of this using your plans. It came out well, but it was intended to be both a learning experience for me as well as shop furniture. I have a Rigid spindle sander and a Dewalt planer (92lbs) on it. I did put the drawer slides in before I put the top and back on and while I forgot to remove the jokers from the deck before setting the drawer front I didn’t use them. I was afraid that wouldn’t have been funny. I just rubbed some finish on it and hope to use it on a project very soon. Thanks for all your work.

      Sure thing! Our Home Depot here in Tampa, FL just started carrying Radiata Plywood and I'm excited to try it out and I'll be using that to build mine. I'm intending to build two at the same time. This will allow me to disassemble the large bench I have in my shop taking up so much room. Again, thanks and I'll try to either record some of the build or at the very least take photos.

      @@s4nari I mean just because some youtubers have those $600 tools doesn't mean it's the one and only way to do it. They're using what they have available. There's very few builds I've seen that couldn't be done with a much less expensive tool. Lots of the people making videos do woodworking for a living, so they've got the expensive tools because time is money for them and they're making many pieces. If you can take the extra 30 minutes then they can be done, and most videos suggest cheaper ways of doing the same thing.

    I am looking for ideas to make a flip cart and this one solved some problems I didn’t even know to look out for.
    After watching this video I went to your website to purchase the plans.
    Not only is your site impeccably designed and functions flawlessly, (clear fast navigation, all buttons work, easy fast purchase options including PayPal, fast download times) but you have plans for a few items I’ve seen on TH-cam in the past. The skittles game was one I wanted to make but didn’t remember what it was called or who had posted it.

    I would love a workshop like this. I'm almost 52 & always only took care of our 4 children while my husband served in the military. He's been retired 6 yrs and all the kids are now grown with families of their own(except the youngest who just turned 18). I'm bored as hell and really want to get into refurbishing/building furniture. I'm hoping to start creating a workshop in the garage soon. I love these videos and would love this flip table.
