In India, we have been making transparent crisps from tapioca, rice wheat starch for generations. We usually dry them in sun and then fry them like pappadum. They are delicious!
If you fry them at a higher temperature they actually puff up kind of like shrimp chips! I heard they're tastier that way, but of course they're not clear anymore.

I think she meant the lowest temp her oven has is 170. The chip recipe called for a lower temp than 170 degrees.
The problem was it doesn't go below 170° F, while the recipe called for 135° F.
