SAW TOYAH LIVE AT THE IPSWICH GAUMONT IN 1984 I WAS 16 AND FELL IN LOVE WITH HER AND NOW 40 YEARS LATERCSHE IS MORE GORGEOUS THANBEVER I AM A HUGE HOLMES ANDCWATSON FAN READ MOST OF THE BOOKS WHILE AT SCHOOL HOUND OF THE BASKERVILLES MY FAVOURITE I HAVE BEEN LISTENING TO THESE FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS NOW MICHAEL WILLIAMS WAS FABULOUS THEN ANDREW SACHS TOOK HIS PLACE AFTER HE SADLY DIED NOW OF COURSE THE LATTER HAS PASSED AWAY TOO LUCKILY I THINK MOST OF THESE FANTASTIC STORIES WERE COVERED SO I SAY THANKYOU TO EVERYONE THAT PUT THESE ADVENTURES TOGETHER AND THE FINE ACTORS N ACTRESSES ♥️🙏🌈😊
First transmitted 20 February 2002, this story is based on a reference from Doyle's short story "The Problem of Thor Bridge": "Among these unfinished tales is that of Mr. James Phillimore, who, stepping back into his own house to get his umbrella, was never more seen in this world." After years of apparent inactivity, master cat-burglar "The Ghost" is back with a series of thefts.
In the Thor Bridge story there is a reference to a tin dispatch box in the vaults of the Cox and Co. Bank at Charing Cross in London, where Dr. Watson kept the papers concerning some of Holmes' unsolved or unfinished cases.
Sometimes wonder why folk feel the need to thumbsdown? I'll risk answering my own question and say it's because they can, it's their prerogative I s'pose. Personally, I really enjoyed the humour between Holmes & Watson. Toyah is great , as are the whole cast. Love the music too.
Another story written by a BBC writer and not Conan Doyle. Takes about 4-5 minutes to recognize the incongruities. Even the excellent actors dont compensate for the characterizations, style, story elements, and concerns that weren't in Conan Doyle. Just to complain more, another such "original" Holmes story was so lazily written that when Watson asked how Holmes had deduced some circumstance, "Watson" then continued "Oh never mind Holmes. I know your methods". Sigh nevertheless, thanks for taking the time and effort to post this.
Thank you. I thoroughly enjoyed this episode wit the great Roy Hudd and Toyah Wilcox.

The episode title is a bit of a spoiler, don't you think? 😉
It wasn't until you brought it to our attention, Sparky. Merry Christmas.
I'll bet you were a barrel of laughs in the bar at the interval of The Mousetrap.
This one wasn’t of the same standard. Too melodramatic
But the Victorian theatre-going public loved a good over-the-top melodrama 😊

OK but not up to the usual high standard
Not sure about this Sherlock.

The writers name is in the description of all of these BBC radio dramas.
Well, you should have turned off after the first five minutes if you were that disappointed. An expat listening in S Florida.
Agreed. But no one can live upto that crackling standard
You read but don’t comprehend. You also should know by the credits it isn’t an original. Plus you know nothing of the original stories.
Sorry hit dislike rather than like! Lol sorry!
Just hit Like and it changes.
This was just Gastly. Thumbs down!
