“Couldn’t duplicate” Toyota dealers famous last words. Exact reason I got rid of my two 3rd Gen tundras at 10 trips to the dealer for rattles. I’ve had a lot to address on my ‘22 Tundra 1794 but as of last week the last issue seems to be fixed. Outside of the numerous recalls my primary annoyances were wind noise issues and brake noise and brake rumble. The wind noise was noticeable fairly early. One was the driver’s door window gasket the other was the right rear door outer gasket AND the window gasket/track. Both of these were warranty repairs. The rear brakes became a problem at 15,000 miles with little towing. There was a faint rumble felt through the truck when slowing from highway speeds and noise from the rear at low speeds. By 25,000 miles it was worse. The Toyota tech showed me all 4 rotors in the truck and recommended replacing the rear rotors and pads. We did that and the noise was gone but the rumble became worse as it approached 30,000 miles. At that point I told the shop that they were replacing the front brakes under warranty. Those parts were on back order as a TSB indicated the part numbers had changed (hmmm). Once the parts were in and the brakes serviced, the rumble and noise were gone. 10,000 miles hence and so far no recurrence of those problems. Dealers will never be able to figure out ticks, rattles. You can get sound-deadening foam sheets, or felt tape, and start shimming/stuffing it into stuff. Works great. This is what the porsche dealership i worked for would do in this scenario when a customer brought up a noise concern (even if we couldnt reproduce it) Most luxury vehicles add this from the factory as part of the higher price tag.
To resolve your brake noise, have you tried to re-bed the brake pads? It's worth noting that Toyota's pads are quite aggressive for a factory pad, and higher friction pads will typically make noise when they're cold. If you're having issues when in the mornings when humidity is high, slight oxidation on the rotor face could be contributing. My Xterra does this under the same conditions.

Your experience is an anomaly. But I would not buy any of the new models- Tundra, Tacoma, Land Cruiser or 4Runner for at least 3 years. Toyota rolled out too many all new models in too short a timeframe. For a company whose reputation for reliability is built on slow incremental change they bit off more than they could chew. Guarantee all they will have all the bugs worked out within a few years. NEVER buy a first model year vehicle…. even from Toyota.
My wife and I sat in the LC as I was going to pick it up after a reservation. We were so disappointed with the interior and power we cancelled it (in Sunnyvale California). I’m in the market for a 200 Series with low miles. This gen of Toyota is fucked
CR predicted reliability for Land Cruiser is not very good, but it is rated high for 4runner. I'm not sure why. It is depressing that Toyota is slipping so much and that the dealer doesn't take any issues seriously. I would love a new 4runner or lander cruiser but the value and quality for the high price is poor. I'll stick with my old reliable 200k+ mile Toyotas until a quality improves with the newer ones.
New car and trucks problems will be solved after one to two year in production because engineering changes will be incorporated. So, the best Toyota cars would be in 5th Gen.
Sure you thought of it but take the service advisor or a mechanic with you for a test drive. For the price paid and that you’re a big TH-camr you would think they would do everything to fix it. Call them out with a video😂
Seeing if you can shine some light on this. In the market to get something and im coming from a 2017 4Runner TRD off road and do go off roading. All the trucks and suvs are on my list. Out of the GX550, Land Cruiser, and Taco TRD Pro. If you were to choose one out of those three would you choose? I know it boils down to personal preference but would love your insight since you have/had drive all three. Lastly, price is not a factor just want something that i can use here and there for DD on occasion and something to take off roading.
Am I missing something here why not just play them a recording. Heck play them this video. Yes there is a TSB but nothing beats your audio. Hope it gets resolved.
I wish they were non-turbo V6 and affordable. By affordable I mean $30k base model -$40k premium model. Unfortunately I don’t make $30 per hour or an annual income of $200,000 😂
Hagerty gave the new Landcruiser the real world review its deserves and pretty much trashed it. Everyone should go watch and learn how the new LC is yet another letdown. Swing and a miss by Toyota on the new gens of the Tundra, Tacoma, 4Runner, and Landcruiser.

Oh boy , "can not duplicate" , that's 1 of the reasons I left toyota , 2018 tacoma in 7 different times for Trans, can not duplicate 7 times in a row , until the Trans died , great channel but il never purchase a toyota product again , after having 9 toyotas in a row.
Thanks for the support! Same dealer or did you try multiple?
@TRDJon 2 different dealers here in upper north new jersey , toyotaworld in newton n.j. and crestmont toyota in pompton plains n.j.
Great channel sir.
Thanks forr the support!
Liking commenting to support floating both payments 🫡
YOU'RE THE BEST!!!!
My GX550 does the same thing, its embarrassing
Especially with how much $$ these vehicles are.
New car and trucks problems will be solved after one to two year in production because engineering changes will be incorporated. So, the best Toyota cars would be in 5th Gen.
We hope
Sure you thought of it but take the service advisor or a mechanic with you for a test drive.
For the price paid and that you’re a big TH-camr you would think they would do everything to fix it. Call them out with a video😂
Do you think your creeking doors are from having your windows tinted
Not at all.
Sadly the brake squeaks is 100 % normal, only fix is to swap pads for ceramic pads and it’s fixed for life!
Wahoo kicker setup on a 12 speed pinerallo prince
the gx 550 squeaks in reverse every morning
keep telling ya..the best, most reliable and bulletproof Toyota's, (well vehicles), you'll ever own are the other 2 blue Toyota's in your driveway.
May I ask what you do for a living. You drive a lot of nice vehicles.
Many streams of income from real estate to other investments.
An oil change is probably the cost of one tank of gas on this vehicle. Worth it considering the cost of not doing it.
Jon, is the first digit of Vin# a “J”???
Character, yes. It is made in Japan.
I wish they were non-turbo V6 and affordable. By affordable I mean $30k base model -$40k premium model. Unfortunately I don’t make $30 per hour or an annual income of $200,000 😂
My tundra has the same issue with the brakes smh
This thing looks like the fj cruiser and bronco had a baby....
lol
Na it’s dry AF in Vegas and mine still squeal lol
They could not duplicate my brake squeal either.
Oil change = NO
Squeaks and rattles = YES
HAHAHA
Not changing oil at 5K is just silly. What's an oil change cost? C'mon...
Darn I was praying for a fix for those annoying squealing brakes
100% would be a TSB in the future for the LC.
Why not just show them the video? Or did you?
70k creaks and rattles. What a joke
Yep
Your rattles sound like what I had with my 23 Sequoia so it's not exclusive to the LC.
Same with ,my 3rd gen tundra
Hagerty gave the new Landcruiser the real world review its deserves and pretty much trashed it. Everyone should go watch and learn how the new LC is yet another letdown. Swing and a miss by Toyota on the new gens of the Tundra, Tacoma, 4Runner, and Landcruiser.
Lots of vehicles do that. Swap in a set of ceramic pads. It will go away….
Yea lets just throw thousands at a new vehicle that shouldn't be making this sound in the first place.
@@TRDJon my atlas did the same thing. It’s the semi metallic pad materials - modern eco friendly requirements. It happens when it’s humid because they are oxidizing in the moisture. Then it slowly burns off as you use them. It tends to be manufacturer wide… it’s not just Toyota.
it sounds like you need to throw some lube on the brake pad slides
My 2025 1958 makes the same noise 😭😭😭
Trade it for the GX 550 🤔🤨
I feel like all new 4Runner won't really be great YT content vehicle... limited aftermarket stuff and it's rollout has been pretty boring the pricing release has a lot of Toyota loyalist looking for alternatives...if you find that alternative I think that's your content vehicle
My jeep had squeaky brakes from driving through a sandy creek...had to take off the pads and wipe off the sand
