Those sidewalks up and down soi 23 (as well as many other sois around bkk) were torn up and redone in the last few months. Nice work! :)

      @EagerExpat  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Yes, they are doing some improvements, but that video was shot a few days ago. But, soon it should be rally nice. I'm not a fan of the paver/tile method. I wish they just poured a concrete sidewalk. Tree roots and just movement, move those pavers in a years time. But, it could be many parts of SE Asia and just dirt.

Definitely a sight. I think everyone should at least take a walk down cowboy. My first visit to Bangkok I was wandering around and after spotting the neon decided to explore a bit. Boy was I surprised. Even though it’s not my usual scene (I’m more of a chill live music venue guy, rock, punk,, and metal too)I still recommend the experience. Thanks for another great video Joe.

As always, a great walking tour chock full of nuggets of very helpful information to anyone on planning a visit to the area. Also want to say I love the commentary of you on the back of the Grab scooter, I wish you would do an ENTIRE video this way, that would be great, and you could cover a much wider swath of the city. Everything comes with a risk. But, I find the moto-taxi to be fairly safe. Much safer than driving 70mph then 20mph, then back to 70mph on I-5 in San Diego. As I watch every car staring at a phone. I used to ride a street bike on the freeway in California. Now that is dangerous. I used to race 100mph down the roads of Baja on a bike. I won't do that again. But 5mph down Sukhumvit is pretty mellow. But, I hear you. You know what they say. More people get killed by falling coconuts than shark attacks. I'm still going to the beach. But, I've been to Nana once in the two years since I moved back. It's never been my spot. Patpong is making a comeback. But, it catered to Chinese tourists for a long time. Many of which pay top dollar. I've had buddies who aren't Chinese, tell me they offer to buy a lady a drink, and they say no. They want the Chinese of Korean tourist. Pattaya is it's own thing. But I'd guess most of those ladies aren't trying to hide anything. If you are cruising Beach Road at 2am, that's where the ladyboy works. So that's on that guy. I was answering the question will a ladyboy try and trick you at a Go Go bar. Nah, that doesn't really happen. It's the same on Sukhumvit or standing in front of Nana Plaza. I thought I said working in the bar like Shark. Yes, if you want to play the $25 street lotto, hey that guy is on his own. You go into a Soi Cowboy Go Go, it's not an issue. If you have any concern, just ask her. She won't lie. Or ask the mamasan. But, most guys that are into ladyboys know exactly where to go. It will say Ladyboy bar. They don't go to Shark. There might be one ladyboy in a Go Go, but again it's no secret. They have plenty of customers. As for the street, ya anything can happen out there.

The urban myth about ladyboys not saying that are ladyboys is simply a myth.
The vast majority of ladyboys are honest and will simply tell you up front.
Also, they don't want to waste your time and her time.
Ladyboys in bars are there to earn money.
Why would a ladyboy go back to a hotel room, not get paid and potentially get into a fight after wasting time in the bar with you.
There are plenty of other punters lining up for her company.
Here is a couple of tips - ask if she is a ladyboy. And also ask if you can cope a feel of the package.
Also ask to look at her National ID card. It will say whether or not she is female.
Although that may change will the recently past marriage equality law and changing of gender identity law.
On the other hand, some bars have post-op ladies working in the bar. Then checking the National ID would work, but probably not in future.
For some reason the urban myth never includes post-op ladyboy.
Also the urban myth never talks about Toms. For every ladyboy I see in Thailand, I would see 1,000 Toms.

What amazes is the fact there's sooooo many of these go-go/lady drink (or whatever you wanna call them) bars....all right next to each other & even on adjacent streets... don't think they're exclusive to Cowboy or Nana in bkk if I recall... that's just the 2 hot spots for them..Lady drink Central...& as You say fantastic for people watching as well > just be careful not to buy any Ladyboy drinks... some really do a phenomenal job with the makeup😳😜
Pattaya too...soooo many bars all right down a line & on both sides of the street > overhead must be low... although they also are known to change hands more often than other establishments so maybe business is indeed a grind for the owners ...we know it's definitely a grind for the lady's who're on the clock.
Would be interesting to interview a bar owner willing to go on camera talking about various aspects of the business... challenges & other things folks may not be aware of regarding operating a business where there's a boatload of competition > then again I suspect it may be difficult finding an Owner willing to go on camera.
In other news > the new 60 day Visa Exemption stamp....Arsen (Live Love Thailand) saying it'll be when they make it legal...in the next week or 2 and so far people are still getting the 30 days > I heard someone say people are getting the 60 day ink only if requested > not so sure about that 1....but I sure hope that's the case....or they make it official within the next 2 weeks... otherwise there's gonna be a trip to Immigration for an extension > may be worth a 3-4 day trip down South where immigration only takes 15-20 for a quick extension > last yr in Hua Hin I arrived at Immigration about 30 mins affer opening & it took maybe 45 mins max...30 waiting for my # to be called & another 10-15 at the window > so here's hoping the 60 days is soon implemented 🙏

    • @EagerExpat

There are a bunch of bars, that's for sure. Way more in Pattaya than Bangkok. You can thank the US Military. Pattaya was a huge R&R spot for Vietnam. Even Soi Cowboy is named for a US Airman who started the Soi.
As far as the 60 day stamp, ya people are still getting 30. TIT. This is Thailand. They announce June 1 and figure it out July 15. No biggie. Until it's in the Royal Gazette, no Facebook group or TH-camr knows what's happening. Even when the 60 starts, there was no language if you can extend the 60 for another 30 days. They'll figure it out.
I haven't did an extension in 6 or 7 years. But, I believe you can make an appointment. Usually they fill up about 3 weeks before the date you want. I'm not positive, but I think you can arrive on say June 15, get 30 days until (whatever that is) say July 15. On June 16 you can go to immigration and get the extension until Aug 15. Unless, they changed the rules (or I'm wrong) it used to work that way.
Go to the Thai website. You have to enroll your email. Go get a half dozen "Thai" size photos. US size I know is different. there is a place across from Emsphere called Asia Photo (I think) Get to immigration for the first appt. 8:30? It keeps moving. IT Square today? Get there at 7:45. Fill out the three forms in blue ink. They don't like black. Maybe it looks like a photo copy? Hopefully out in a half hour. They close for lunch for 1 hour. So go early or go after lunch. Go at 11:30 and you'll leave at 2:00. Never go on Monday of the day after a holiday. Even with an appointment it's crazy.
Or you can pay an agent. I'm not sure what they charge. Never used one. I'm not sure if you have to go with them either. When you hire an agent for the retirement visa you have to go. When they do a 90 day check in, you hand over your passport. I did videos on those things. Check out my tips playlist. Best of luck

@@EagerExpat> maybe I misunderstood you...but when I last did a 30 day extension from my original 30 day stamp back in August '23 (in Hua Hin) no extra photos were required... just the Passport & whatever it was...$1,500 baht if I recall...or maybe 1,900 > other than that & the 45 mins it took ...it was relatively easy/painless...at least in Hua Hin...gotta assume BKK would take longer > no idea however an appt can be made for a Visa Exemption Extension....good to know.. especially if considering doing it in BKK > sure hope they haven't made it more difficult to acquire... pix, etc.

Ask the photo guy at 7:30am. They are set up 50 feet away. But, yes get an appointment at either location. The schedule is out in Bangkok 21 days in advance. They sell out fast. So 21 days before the date you want to go start booking. I thinks it's 21. Maybe it's 20. But, that's close
