I've owned my WS-300 for almost 7 years and have only replaced the battery one time. The little watch performs better than my Seiko and Swiss Army watches. I love the auto light feature.
I have owned the same (WS-300), for the last 12 years. Still works. Changed the battery twice. No major issues (the display blanked twice, but just reset the watch with a pair of tweezers).
I just bought this watch. Really brilliant little watch...! It's a bit more in price than $20.-... I payed 40 Euro. The auto illuminate function, is indeed really astonishing! The plastic glass seems to scratch quite easy, I've read in the reviews. Overall is a very practical clear watch. Thank you for your video, it inspired me to buy this one.
Thanks for the feedback...unfortunately this channel is dedicated to reviews on solar and electronic measurement so I'm unable to post further watch reviews at this time. Cheers, Martin.
Very nice review detailed and concise going over the salient points of this good old classic Casio Ani-Digi Watch; love the dual digital display and how its dropped down out of the way of the sweep second hand; don''t see that done that way on any other watch; I believe Casio is the only one who has gone out of the way and done that nice Ani-Digi Watch modification; its much appreciated indeed Casio!
+Dennis Lee The watch is selling on Amazon for $42 1st of October everyday low price so its at a decent price in comparison to other more newer updated Ani-Digi Watches that are being released; now guys the closest Ani-Digi Casio watch makes to this is currently is the AW90H7BV; its true its only $21 on Amazon but it does not have a second line of digital display and also its missing the second sweep hand dial; if its worth having those two mentioned previous items; then this Casio WS300 is still available for $42 on Amazon($20 additional); as always pick the watch most suitable to your needs; furthermore the WS300 also uses the CR2016 Lithium Ion based watch battery(the CR2016 has the longer shelf stable battery life due to the lithium ion battery chemistry over the silver oxide battery chemistry) and the AW90H7BV uses SR920W Silver Oxide based watch battery; both are about a buck a piece if purchased as a strip of five batteries off Amazon with free shipping.
What's really convenient is the DST option: You can adjust the digital time for daylight saving time with the push of a button, and all you need to do is adjust the analog to match the digital time. Remember: 0 means off and 1 means on for the DST feature.
This was an brilliant review! Thanks mate. U forgot to mention alarms, timer. Cost about 80$now here. Still doing better job than expensive edifice. I love seconds hand. There is demand for ana digi with seconds hand.
After all these years, I wonder if you have replaced the battery on your Casio 5160. The instructions say to take it to an authorized Casio dealer and when I opened up my watch back I see the battery is held in place by a little brace I cannot move. Any video in the works covering battery replacement? Thank you!
Really nice review! I was searching on the Internet for something like this on this watch. Have already placed an order. Waiting for my piece to come. Keep up the good work! Cheers! :-)
Mu current watch is away having the clasp fixed and the capacitor replaced, and I was tempted to get a Wave Ceptor, then I remebered that somewhere I still have an old Casio I bought 12 years ago I found it in a shoebox where I put it 4 years ago It had lost 3 seconds. It's still on the original battery. Accuracy wise, I can probably get away without the Wave Ceptor. That was also a $20 watch.
I have casio aq160. It's incredibly accurate (+3 seconds per month on average). Also its original battery lasts for 9th year already. So I kinda don't want to move from quartz technology because I could not tolerate 15-30 seconds of delay or advance per day in automatic watches. And I can't afford very precise automatics. Now I'm buying Tissot v8. I wanted Seiko diver at first, then Citizen Nighthawk or Skyhawk but Tissot is after all swiss made so I'm going with it!
Hi Buddy... Nice Review.. thinking to buy this soon... Can you please tell me.... It has auto light feature , can it be turn off as every time i shake my hands lights are on and will drain my battery ???? thanks for video review....
Nice review .. very helpful... thanks a Lot !!! I can see you have Both black and white watch from amazon link !! Which one is good for night ( good light)??? which one you suggest dark or white ? thanks in adv !!!
Also One more thing..... will it be good to buy a watch with Black dial or white dial.. Black dial looks stylist but white dial gives good light in indelgo...
I own two of these watches. With the exception of one discrepancy, they are identical in every respect. And I hope you would know the answer to my upcoming question. Because I have been searching the web for quite some time now, including Casio's web site, with no luck at all. My question is this... "On the back plate, written just after.... JAPAN MOV'T". Each watch has some markings on them. One watch has the letter "Y". And the other watch has two letters, "ED". "If you know, would you be so kind as to explain to me, what these markings mean?" Respectfully Yours, H's C.
Hello Mjlorton Good job with review. I want to buy Casio WS300-1EV which is same model you have but black colour, but in this video I did not get full information to make decision. Like you say and I catch you on your word :):) can you do in-depth review on this watch? For example: demonstrate how it looks on the wrist, how flexible is wristband (is it Resin or Plastic), how easy is it to set functions and etc. Soon I am going to travel and I would be grateful for your quick response. Thanks.

Purchased this model back in '04. It's pretty worn, but still in use.
Will be taking it on a river-rafting trip next week.
Cheers
Bought mine used from a thrift store for 3 bucks 6 years ago. It was running then and is still on the same battery and keeps perfect time.
Yes, you are correct, the local time would need to be on the digital display....but a great little time piece. Thanks for watching and posting.
The second hand is bang on for most of its travel. Very nice.
My pleasure. Thanks for the feedback.

I've had mine for almost 15 years now. I can't remeber how many times I changed the battery. Twice at the most

ED: refers to Thailand factory code.
Y: refers to probably a Japanese factory code.

They made this watch very nonsense. I have a new Akband in the box of this type of watch model, but this damn watch has major flaws.
