I wouldn't really encourage giving money to russia. Also the whole situation shouldn't be talked about so lightly. A small decrease in price in Vostok watches really isn't a "positive thing" coming from the invasion
Compared to any other brand, all Casio watches are extremely under-priced. They are on top of the list for the best value for money. I'd even go so far and say that Casio is overall the best company in the history of mankind.
Alot of their nicer G Shock watches are made for gorilla wrists only. Unless you have the hulk's wrist, that 50mm dial is like a wall clock on your hand, lol.....
I really do enjoy seeing these reviews of cheaper dependable watches. I get so tired of listening to reviews of ridiculously expensive watches I will never own or have no interest in, in the first place. Good job Ben! Also, I have a Casio DW 5600 I wear at work as a backup. It has had so many battery changes in the 20+ years I've owned it. Indestructible.
I've never been into a hobby for so long that the economic situation of the world has become a major concern, but now that it is, it's nice to see videos like this coming out! Besides, the budget end of the watch industry can often be the most fun to mess around with!
Recently got a Timex weekender 40mm with a brown leather strap and dark blue dial, love the fact that I can use it without being too worried about damaging it and it has earned me more compliments than much more expensive watches
Can't go wrong with Casios. The durability, battery life, features and price make it the most practical watch. They are in their own league. Many digital watvhes hsve come and go but Casio continues to thrive and innovate. I love my casios as mich as I love my expemsive mechs.
Ben, the quality of these reviews in the last while has been so, so good. I really enjoy the tongue and cheek approach you have. A bit of fun is sometimes lost in this weird watch world!
Just when I was thinking about making a watch purchase, up this pops in my subs. Cheers man, your videos always help me to make a more informed choice.
I got an Casio A500 and I’m telling you you won’t regret it. I do have some other more expensive or more beautiful watches but ever since I got the Casio half the time I reach for it and I’m not even a digital guy. I think it’s the features the thinness the lightness and also the look of the world map. Love it
I heard Mark from Long Island watch say yo TGV that a budget watch is one under $1000!…. Bens holdin it down for all us workin folks. Shoutout to Ben all the way from Philly.
Been wearing a Casio EFV 130D with a white dial for year, since the Duro was already being sold for 120+. I paid 58 euros and it's been amazing! Highly underrated watch.
Fair warning: The Shanghai is also 19mm lugs! I love mine. Have way too many of these. Modded my Duro and Lorus lumibrite dial with sapphire. Brilliant video Ben!
Awesome round up Ben, some great choices on show. Don't forget about pre-owned too. You can grab some solid deals if you're patient. I think at this price point Casio just about has you covered for everything you'd need or want.
I've purchased the Casio Duro "Batman version" (Blue and black) and I was impressed by it's quality, precision and looking, compared with its price. I fully recommend it!
Ever since I bought the Lorus in September 2020 after watching your video, I'm a sucker for this watch! Before that I had a Seiko Samurai and the weight difference was surprising in a welcome way, you just don't know the watch is here, there were times I thought I forgot it at home (or worse, lost it) only to look at my wrist and there it was. I have it on a brown Laco aviator strap and it looks fire. It's the watch I wear the most often. The two other watches I wear quite often as well are the F91W and a Seiko Tank I got for 30€ (20€ for the watch and 10€ for a battery swap). If I ever want to reduce my collection, this would the perfect 3 watch collection, with everyday, beater and dress being each covered.
Great choices. I own a number of these. Last week got Casio DW 290 (mission impossible watch) from Amazon USA for $43! Also last month got starking automatic watch for under £20 from Ali express. Also was pleasantly surprised with Tiffany blue dial OP homage by Paulares again automatic watch from Ali express for £21 with taxes and delivery. The two Ali express watches both arrived much quicker than expected.
That Casio MTD1053 is an incredible find. I just ordered one from Amazon UK. It's not available stateside without paying a ridiculous upcharge. Can't wait until it arrives!
How do you like the watch after receiving it? Do you have any comparison to the Duro? I am thinking of buying 1053 since 106/107 doesn’t seem to be available in full blue anymore
@@adalbert93_75 It's really, really good. The finishing is good, the dial is lovely, and the size is perfect. The bezel is way more grippy than the Duro, but has a bit more backplay and wobble. It's also only 90 clicks, which is an odd move, seeing as this is ostensibly a proper diver. My only major gripe is the lume, which is awful, but I expected that, since the Duro has terrible lume too An unexpected surprise is the bracelet, which is really comfortable. It's got hollow end links and folded links, but the links are rolled tight enough that they don't pull on arm hairs, even if you have extremely hairy arms like me. The clasp, however, is very small, has only one hole of microadjust, and is not replaceable. Not a dealbreaker by any means, but it means you're not guaranteed to get a perfect fit. The endlinks are also extremely thin and flimsy, so be careful not to bend them if you swap out the bracelet for a different strap. All told, this is an awesome watch. There are far better-spec'd offerings from Chinese brands that feature sapphire, solid link and solid endlink bracelets, milled clasps, automatic movements, and ceramic bezel inserts. Some budget Chinese brands are even starting to dip their toes into original designs instead of carbon copies of bigger companies. However, if you're looking for a big-brand diver with original styling, this is an excellent choice.
got my 39mm with the white dial on the 3-link "Bader" bracelet watch on MaMaCoo 3 weeks ago and am loving it to pieces. Absolute fantastic watch that wears super comfortable on my 6.75 inch wrist. Chose the 3-link over the 5-link bracelet for the toolless quick adjustment. Way more comfortable than my Longines Hydroconquest 41 mm.
I have a thing for titanium due to how my skin reacts to a lot of stainless steel watches. So the fact that the Lorus titanium is under $100 AND has a quartz movement which will be very beneficial for my working life (I already own a titanium auto, the Boldr Venture), has landed the Lotus onto my wish list quickly!
I managed to get the guanqin on a leather strap from amazon with an NH36 for £30. Insane value for money. Intended on just taking the movement out of it for a mod project but the watch is nice enough where I feel bad doing that to it lol
@@patrickriarchy6054 it initially was £24 but I hesitated and cancelled the order so could have been even more of a bargain. Still very happy for what I paid lol
Thank you for very useful information provided in this video. I've got some to add that you might find helpful. I come from China, and I am familiar with these Shanghai hand wound watches. The caliber inside these watches is the Shanghai Watch Factory Cal. 7120, but known in other parts of China as the Unified Movement SS1. This movement was designed in 1970s by the Chinese Ministry of Light Industry. The government gathered skilled technicians and watchmaking experts from around the nation to build a movement that is easy to mass produce, as cheap as possible and has decent performance. It sounded overly ambitious, but they did it. The result was a simple hand wound movement with crude finishing that you doubt whether it would work, but the performance was surprisingly good: error less than 30s a day, 36 hours of power reserve, effective shock resistance and dirt cheap. At its peak in 1980s these movements were produced by a dozen of state-owned enterprises around China in enormous amounts: 30 MILLION pieces a year! So much of these get produced that you can still find loads of new old stock movements in China today, for 50 CNY (6 quids) each. Just install one of these into a random case and you get your watch, and trust me, they are not bad.
Spend the extra 5-10 USD (total about 50.00) for an OG Casio G-shock DW5600. I have a few automatic mechanical watches, but the G-shock is the one I want to wear every day. Sort of watch version of an all white pair of AF1s. Outstanding list BTW 💯
By no means an original suggestion, but I'd also throw in the Cadisen c1032 as a great option in this range, particularly during one of Ali's many sales. Thanks for the great video!
Thx for this great review. Although I'm a die hard Vostok lover, you really have outdone yourself with some really nice watches here like the Lorus and Shanghai options. Thx again Ben!!!
I’ve got a Casio DW-291H and honestly I love it. It looks awesome to me and is extremely versatile with its functions, water resistance, and mineral glass. For $20, it’s incredible.
2:22 Those Timex Ironman watches are very accurate. I set that same watch against one of my Casio Waveceptors and it holds it’s time accuracy way better than my other non-atomic watches. It’ll drift a second or two in a few months versus a few days.
If you like to do swim training, the timex ironman cannot be beat. It has a countdown/repeat audio alarm that will allow you to do repeat sets (like 10 x 100 yards on 1:25) or give you an audio underwater pacing signal for a long swim (like 500, 1000, or 1650 yards). As far as I know there is no other watch that can substitute for a large poolside clock in this way .. I've been using it for this purpose exclusively since the 1980s.
Dude! A lot of these videos you find on YT are the same watches but you have some new picks on here I really dig! Everyone loves the Timex Weekender, personally I can’t do Timex. My Dad always had one and for whatever reason I hate the logo. But that Lorus!! Great similar look with an interesting brand and nicer logo. Hell. Yeah. You just solved an annoying issue for me. Thanks!
Excellent content. I personally fall back on a Casio or Timex. Both brands have a good history in the watch industry and I know I'm getting quality. Great to see you mentioned a good few brands. Always nice to have options.
Gotta agree on the last "shanghai hand wind" - It's like sticking your hand into the fifties and pulling out a small workhorse. It's just classy in a cheap sort of way
Amazing vid! Another great field watch option is the Casio MTP1215A-1ACR though it does require changing the bracelet immediately because the one it comes on is garbage.
Checking out your vids, Walmart had an close out sale on all watches, Casio, I got all there casinos watches for 85.54, and that was 12-watches all where Casio, love all your vids
Thanks for the great video, and thanks for all the watch links in the video description too. That must have taken some time, but it's greatly appreciated.
I got the Casio A700WMG-9A gold as a birthday present, truly is a stylish watch. I always joke that i bet some drug dealer on Miami Vice used a watch like this.
I love videos like this. Thank you for producing this kind of content, especially when Christmas is coming up and people are wondering what to buy me. A special shout out to the vibration alarm casio's. They might fall under the category of wannabe G-Shock, but they are absolutely wonderful machines for the money. I like being able to set myself an alert that doesn't also alert everyone around me, and they have some of the easiest to read displays and most user-friendly modules as well.
My favorite is the Citizen Satellite Wave CC3001-51L, a watch that takes care of itself. This is why they are boring. But they are Perfection ! And for 80$ I have chinese Corgeut with Miyota 8215 (homage on Tudor Black Bay, only the sapphire crystal is much nicer than the original - it is at the edges at the bezel level, and thickens by 1mm towards the center - just super to the touch !), I wear them 99% of the time.
My Grandfather was from a small Eastern European nation and he had a Shanghai which I now have. It's much cooler to have a "boldly" Chinese made watch with a bit of history than a Chinese watch masquerading under a vague western name.
I just got into watch collecting. I've loved watches since I was young but I never had anyone teach me or bring deeper into the world. amzwatch brought closer to a community and hobby I always wanted to get into more and that is incredibly meaningful to me !
If you need an inexpensive watch in the UK, Argos have a broad selection in the £60 and below price bracket which includes three Lorus Chronographs, the Lorus Lumibrite field watch at under £30, the usual selection of low priced Casio digitals and even G-shocks at under £80. Shop around and keep an eye out for deals and you really can pick up a bargain.
Not to undermine this already stellar video; but if you want a lightweight, compact Timex "field watch"; I'd actually suggest the "Camper" series. I picked up a T40011 for $30 USD recently and I'm super pleased with it. Resin 38mm case, 20mm lugs, and 100m of water resistance- all coming from a watch under the Expedition umbrella. I actually got it to replace my W735H as a more practical beater and WOW it's great on a different strap.😅
Pretty good lineup of watches, except the Invictus and the other copies, but you should definitely look at HMT watches if you're looking for cheap watches with rich history, decent build quality and amazing mechanical movements!!
Vostok Komandirskie with automatic winding last year cost $ 25 + shipping.-)This watch is the power of the Soviet Army. But be careful with the Vostok clock - they are addictive! And you will want more and more...-)))
@@unkono we get western things here through some middleman companies (they send stuff through like Turkey or some other country, I recently received books bought on Amazon from the US that were sent to Russia through Germany), so I believe there is something similar to move goods the other way as well
Managed to get a Lorus Lumibrite Stainless version at Argos for £19.99 last week. Great watch at that price point . I have two RS935DX9 Lorus lying around that just need new Batteries( one I have had for almost 15 years), really great watches that look great on different NATO's
I restore vintage watches and I can tell you that for that money you will get an almost mint 1980s watch with a lot more charm. Finished a 80s digital QQ watch yesterday for $8 and a 80s Certina analog for $35. Today I'm almost done with a wonderful 80s Seiko analog that's just stunning for $50. So look around for great watches from the past. I don't bother with those G-Shock wannabees though, as they are made of very poor quality plastic and both the buckle and watch break. I have a box full of that junk that I only keep for screws. The Casio's are great though so they are worth picking up cheap. Did you know that Casio made analog models with Swiss movement inside during the 90s?
Ben a really outstanding selection. I favor the Lorus field watch for the price. Makes an excellent paramedic watch for day or night shifts. Really enjoy your channel. Many thanks. Your channel and Jody's just one more watch are my go to watch channels. Really excellent presentation style. Cheers. Ed

Thanks!
I just picked up a Duro in America for $50 at walmart. Couldn't be happier with it
Can’t wait to see those Casio’s “tested”😁. I have quite a few.
It's just classy in a cheap sort of way
This video is the best! Everytime i am looking for a good budget watch this video is the best
I got my Casio Duro last week for 50.00 I love it
I recently bought an Invicta pro diver automatic for just 50$ on Amazon, one of the best deals I ever had
good solid watch
WTF this video is insanely good! How are you this good at what you do??
Im using my casio mdv marlin "kermit" as a edc. Bulletproof quality ,great style and even better price!
High-accuracy quartz is definitely above US$100. But a digital Casio with radio sync can be fairly cheap…
Bertucci catch my eye!, now I'm looking for one
It's not possible to buy Vostok direct from Russia at the moment..unfortunately that means paying inflated prices from 3rd party sellers.
Got casio g-shock digital watch for 6 years now, for 50 bucks it's sure worth the money and I even used it for diving activites
Literally the exact video I was looking for, thank you.
Amazing vid! Another great field watch option is the Casio MTP1215A-1ACR though it does require changing the bracelet immediately because the one it comes on is garbage.
and just when I thought I was out you drag me back in with your cheap watch reviews...... 👍
I had missed a price dip with the Edifice EFV-100D and 110D last year, so this gives me a new list to check out!
Checking out your vids, Walmart had an close out sale on all watches, Casio, I got all there casinos watches for 85.54, and that was 12-watches all where Casio, love all your vids
Best intro ever. Thanks for that.
Take a look at Alba as they have tons of under $50-100 time pieces, and are known for their reliability and simple designs.
The Seagull M163s is really nice for small wristed folks, you can get it for around 50 pounds with a China shipping agent
Unique and nice design, sainless steel, sapphire crystal, automatic, nice bracelet, open heart and power reserve/date subdials
2:11 That watch seems the best for the WAR ROOM and Mineshaft gap wars!
Thanks for the great video, and thanks for all the watch links in the video description too. That must have taken some time, but it's greatly appreciated.
That Shanghai Watch Factory was a find. Like Seagull they've been around since the mid 1950's.
Ben you is definitly the best selectioner of watche in the world seriously all of your watch how have present in the vidéo are so cool realy thanks
I got the Casio A700WMG-9A gold as a birthday present, truly is a stylish watch. I always joke that i bet some drug dealer on Miami Vice used a watch like this.
Vostok watches are really cool. Highly recommend to give them a try.
Hello Ben, i discovered this channel lately, i bought a f91w because of you 🤣 thank you so much, love from Italy 🌿🍕
If you're looking for a chrono you cannot go wrong with casio mtp4500d-1av. Fantastic Seiko Flightmaster alternative.
I got the center Timex in your thumbnail for just $8. It's a good watch. I love Timex I have 5 of them
My favorite is the Citizen Satellite Wave CC3001-51L, a watch that takes care of itself.
Excellent review ben covered all the good budget realistic timepices indeed....
My Grandfather was from a small Eastern European nation and he had a Shanghai which I now have. It's much cooler to have a "boldly" Chinese made watch with a bit of history than a Chinese watch masquerading under a vague western name.
If you buy a timex weekender prepare for a mega ticking noise.
It’s like there’s a speaker for it.
I just got into watch collecting. I've loved watches since I was young but I never had anyone teach me or bring deeper into the world. amzwatch brought closer to a community and hobby I always wanted to get into more and that is incredibly meaningful to me !
Yes the a500 is great so much functionality and not bulky
Man that Casio MTP-VT01B-1B looking gooooood
If you need an inexpensive watch in the UK, Argos have a broad selection in the £60 and below price bracket which includes three Lorus Chronographs, the Lorus Lumibrite field watch at under £30, the usual selection of low priced Casio digitals and even G-shocks at under £80. Shop around and keep an eye out for deals and you really can pick up a bargain.
Great stuff, thanks Ben.
Never heard of them, thanks for the suggestion.
Vostok Komandirskie with automatic winding last year cost $ 25 + shipping.-)This watch is the power of the Soviet Army. But be careful with the Vostok clock - they are addictive! And you will want more and more...-)))
Too bad we can't get them anymore
@@unkono we get western things here through some middleman companies (they send stuff through like Turkey or some other country, I recently received books bought on Amazon from the US that were sent to Russia through Germany), so I believe there is something similar to move goods the other way as well
Managed to get a Lorus Lumibrite Stainless version at Argos for £19.99 last week. Great watch at that price point . I have two RS935DX9 Lorus lying around that just need new Batteries( one I have had for almost 15 years), really great watches that look great on different NATO's
Excellent video Ben, to pick affordable watches, thanks!
The editing always cracks me up 🤣
G-Shocks can be found for a bargain if you shop around. I found a G-Shock GW-M5610 for just 80 euro's.
Which of these Glow in the dark.
I know Lorus Lumibrite, does Bertucci do?
Ben, you missed the best category: Solar ! Seiko Alba V158 field watch. Under $100 from Japan on Ebay.
Another great lineup. But I gotta say, now that Armitron is making metal-cased retro digitals.... I haven't bought another Casio.
You’re too good to be making watch videos Ben!
I have the Timex Weekender and like it a lot. Only downside is that it is loud (which I like)
I restore vintage watches and I can tell you that for that money you will get an almost mint 1980s watch with a lot more charm.
Did you know that Casio made analog models with Swiss movement inside during the 90s?
oooh - that black Accurist at 06:48 is nice!
This was a great video, thank-you!
Ben a really outstanding selection. I favor the Lorus field watch for the price. Makes an excellent paramedic watch for day or night shifts. Really enjoy your channel. Many thanks. Your channel and Jody's just one more watch are my go to watch channels. Really excellent presentation style. Cheers.
Ed
08:30 The most counterfeited watch is the f-91w, and after the submariner.
i have the pd1661 and its amazing, the only problem i have with it is that the screw down crown is a little bit crunchy
