  • The John Lobb Classic Collection consists of 3 iconic models: the Lopez loafer, City II oxford, and the William double monk. Today, Kirby shares what makes this diverse trio so special and why he would love to add them to his wardrobe.
    About John Lobb Paris
    In 1976, John Lobb was acquired by the Hermès Group. However, the London bespoke workshop, John Lobb Ltd, remained in the hands of the family, and continues to operate independently from its premises at 9 St James’s Street. The Paris bespoke atelier, the By Request service and ready-to-wear collection, as well as all the other John Lobb boutiques, are all part of the Hermès-owned company.

    Love the Lopez. Got myself one in soft grain leather. It stands out and is incredibly well made. Another loafer favourite of mine from JL is Keyne which Is a whole cut loafer .. the aesthetics and the attention to detail blows me away every single time.
    Great video Kirby, love your passion for shoes.

    Love your jacket! (still watching the review) but please I prefer light brown shoes for reviews because it's easier to notice the details
    And also hope to see more brands like tlb artista line for example (we've had too much of John lobb gazziano Carmina edmonds..)
    Anyway love your content keep it going 👍

    In my opinion:
    I would only go for JL London as Hermes is more a fashion brand. But my choice would be Saint Crispins. Is there a video about SC maybe in the future? Still great video as always. Hope you and your family is COVID-free and in good health.

    I generally like the heritage of owning a pair of John Lobbs (even JL Paris). However the premium for this heritage is very steep. If the more conservative styling from Lobb would appeal to me I would save a few hundred dollars by buying a pair of Edward Green's instead.

    • @kirbyallison
      @kirbyallison  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Certainly a premium. For sure. Here in the United States, that premium also pays for a better retail network that is basically nonexistent for EG. But these shoes are all in the same ballpark. Differences at this point is nuanced and subtle.

    Hi Kirby! I just discovered your channel and your website and am loving them both and planning an order. I have a question for you... I’m planning on buying a pair of black captoe oxfords and have a budget of about $500. I’ve been looking at a pair of Carminas in the “rain” last. Any other shoes/brands in that price range that you recommend I check out?

      @olatusijazz8155 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Not really, the shoe tree they sell for 200 + bucks you are paying for brand name it makes no different for 30 bucks shoe tree i mean if it is cedar shoe tree that absorb moisture from shoe.

    • @olatusijazz8155
      @olatusijazz8155 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Billy M. Shoe tree is to absorb moisture from shoe after wear which cedar shoe tree of 30 +bucks does 200+ bucks do the same work. Moreover shoes trees are build in different ways to accommodate shoe but the treatment and the aroma is the same in most cases people pay for brand name that makes it expensive believe it or not.

    • @strongyang

      Depends, better off getting their lasted shoe tree than from other brands that cost 200 bucks. It’s made to fit the shoes.

    I replied to a promo by John Lobb asking about gemming and they didnt bother to reply. If they treat potential customers like that, I will not be paying thousands for RTW and yes I can afford all these shoes 10000 times over. Which reputable makers use SPI of 4?

    • @kirbyallison
      @kirbyallison  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No reputable makers use a SPI of 4... that's Allen Edmonds territory.
      What was your question about gemming.

    • @teenoso4069
      @teenoso4069 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kirbyallison Interesting but they are two different markets/price points. I have never had shoes made less than 12 and if MTO never less than 9. I read (shoegazingblog) JL use gemming on their RTW. I wanted to know if this was London and/or Paris. If it can be dispelled that would be helpful.

    • @pc239
      @pc239 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@teenoso4069 JL London (St. James) is bespoke only, no ready to wear. They are handwelted. According to Justin Fitzpatrick, 95% of all goodyear-welted shoes use gemming, including JLParis, but there's nothing wrong with that. www.theshoesnobblog.com/2013/04/mythbuster-gemming-is-bad.html
