There are dedicated accounts on social media platforms like twitter & tumblr that share information for all types of zines! I don't use tumblr much anymore so idk which ones are good there, but on twitter there are accounts such as @Zineincoming, @Atozines, and @zineTown that share application posts & interest checks ^^
I was offered a storyboarding position by an indie animation studio, and they got really dismissive once I started asking questions about questionable contract terms. They stopped replying, and suddenly they didn't want to hire me anymore. Yikes :"D Their attitude became really unprofessional the moment they realised they had someone who wasn't just going to blindly sign a contract that boiled down to $2 an hour.
I was initially excited for the Webtoon call to action contest, until I read the fine print and saw that the winners had to sign over their IP if they wanted to collect the prize money. Sounds like less of a prize and more like a sign-on bonus xD
Thanks for making this video! It's super important, as someone who's been trying to get involved in these kinds of projects Also I'm hyped for June, it'll be cool learning more about Mint & Friends! :)
The art is amazing, I adore these vintage-styled character designs! And the video is incredibly useful, I haven't yet joined any project like that, it was a bit scary for me always, since I'm quite insecure about my art 😅 maybe I will try something soon though since I feel now I at least know what to be wary of
I recall a jojo's bizarre adventure's zine project going array, due to lack of communication AND the fact that the lead artist was managing all the parts of the projects (icluding the percentage each artist was going to receive for their contribution to that) The zine was popular in the jjba community, because it contained big artist names from the fandom. Fast forward a few months later, half of the zine participants made call out posts on the organizer for never receiving their cut nor their promised exclusive zine copy for their contribution. The organizer was going on and of private during the controversy to avoid backlash both from artists and customers, whom haven't received their order. It was a rather... bizarre experience *bum dum tuss* Also, allegetally a month or two after the call outs an excel screenshot related to the expenses of the zine was leaked from the organizer's private server and the cuts of the participants were nowhere to be seen, which added fuel to the fire. It was a mess and the last time I checked the organizer of the zine, was going on and off private and not announcing any big projects for the time being. This mess really made me be more cautious on projects like that, before I start preordering zines, merch etc. also, kinda turned me away from asking to participate in any big art projects in general. Your video was great and a really helpful, considering the fact that these things happen and can leave a bitter taste to many passionate artists for big projects, or worse cases like getting scammed! It's always good to have a little heads-up for a possibility that may or may not happen, than just diving head first and end up hitting your head.
I had trued to join at least 2 fanart projects and I still am not sure might art was really even put in the first one I joined as the video they posted showing the art book I didn't see my art and when I asked they told me maybe the pages were stuck together and some art was missed but I never knew for sure if that was true or they didnt think my art was good enough to put in and just didnt wanna tell me they didnt or not o.o and the 2nd one I tried joining they said theyd let everyone know if they were chosen or not and I just never got a reply even tho they said they'd message everyone chosen or not and then I never saw another post about it until they already was putting out the zine e.e so idk I just never messaged em and assumed they didnt want my art either o.o
Honestly while the tos part is understandable it's a bit hard to do taht when you're sitting in an office and a dude is waiting for you to sign all the papers(which shows other red flags so fair enough ig)
how exactly does one find zines to apply to in the first place?

Oh god YEP. The webtoon CTA sounded so cool but that part felt more like an ultimatum
I love the way you detailed the frame of the artwork in this video!
This video is exceptionally helpful. Thank you for all your wonderful advice.
Glad to hear it, thank you!

Oh DAMN that sounds like a messy one 💀 but yeah literally bad organisation kills everything, otherwise so many things end up breaking down
very informative and helpful, thank you for making this video!!
Most of the art contests I've joined are DTIYS contests.

Same the yt deleted the video and my fanart got to waist
I work so hard just for her to take the video down???
80% of Thai art contest agreement can steal everyone works like this too. So I stop to do contest in my own country once and for all.

I once saw a serial art tracer hold an art contest
I don’t like green…but I Love it on your character! It’s so classy 🥰! *sub*
