Bought AX6000 on a Black Friday deal to replace a 3 year old high end linksys router that was having trouble keeping up since we cut the cord and now usually have one 1080p TV and one 4K TV streaming almost all the time. The old router started to drop all connections a couple of times a day. We have very heavy internet use with a family of 4 running 3 gaming computers, 2 TVs, 1 Echo, 3 Dots, 2 tablets, 4 phones, 1 vacuum cleaner, 1 thermostat and a sprinkler system.
The AX6000 was very easy to setup using the mobile app first and then the PC website to tweak a few settings. My son's gaming computer is the only WiFi 6 capable device we were able to test. He had about 200 Mbps before we installed the new router and has 400 Mbps with the new AX6000. 400 Mbps is the maximum speed that we pay for from our internet service provider. All of our other devices showed marked improvement in speeds just not double.
The AX6000 has been running great since it was setup a few weeks ago. No problems and no dropped signals.

This was a great video. I am glad I found this. My access point went and died on me so I had to go back to the Verizon Fios router from my ISP, it is almost unbearable. I had not even looked at TP-Link until now. I was very happy to see that you showed the devices, connections and antenna actuations in detail. The packaging illustrations were clear and really added value to the video. I also liked that you showed off the mobile app. Thanks for being awesome!

I used to have drops etc with my previous router... having multiple wireless/wired (switch) connections including various 4k streaming, gaming, iphones/ipads, cameras and more. I got the AX6000 and I have no more issues... and the phone app is a super plus, love it! No more drops, solid, fast and responsive 24/7! Having a nice router is mandatory nowadays!

I'm trying to get a router on a budget. Would the AX3000 be able to handle a Ring Security System, 3 fire sticks, one office computer, a tablet and one gaming rig? I do not feel like paying over $200+ for an AX6000.

If you want amazing wifi speeds over a large distance or trough walls I would get the AX11000.
I have it because my old routers which was 2x Tenda AC6 (1 transmitter and 1 repeater) could only manage 80 mbps download speed on a perfect day with ping of 40 - 100 on a 300 mbps network and the speed was usually much lower than that.
When I changed to the TP-Link Archer AX11000 I got 300mbps download speed immediately and my ping got reduced to around 5ms and I have had that speed consistently everyday for months now and that's when the router is used alone without any repeater/range extenders.
It is sending the signal from one building to another one because I don't live in the building where the router is standing so the signal goes trough 2 walls and maybe about 8-10 meters distance outside and I still have 300mbps on the 5GHz band.

I have a BIG set of important questions. Our household is connected currently via Verizon DSL, and it's not very good. There is a cable TV option that folks claim is better, but we're wondering about cellular. We're in a very hilly rural area, but fiber optic is not taking off here. Verizon does not offer FIOS here, and there are apparently no plans to do so.
1: is there a way to create a WiFi 6 home network based on a cellular subscription? We're thinking about dumping Verizon DSL and the landline entirely. That means either doing phone and internet over cable TV or doing cellular. Are there any MiFi-like devices out there that can be plugged into a router like the ones in this video, or are they their own one-stop hot spot? Also, both of our cells are on Tracfone (pay-as-you-go, minutes-based service operating on AT&T / GSM-only towers) that we started using 15 years ago.
2: If we ditched Verizon landline and shifted to cell with a contract, how do we figure out which carrier offers best coverage of our home and what speeds to expect? Cellular is spotty around here, and the towers seem to be carrier-specific. (There's a Verizon Wireless tower on a hilltop a few miles from here, and our Tracfones don't pick up any signal from it.)
3: We have a Dymo label printer and some other USB devices, and an old HP laser printer with Ethernet. If we want to keep using them, are there inexpensive WiFi relays we can plug into these devices that will work with routers like the TPs you review in this video? What do we look for? What search terms?
Right now, we have an old Westell DSL modem plugged into our Verizon landline. We strung out Ethernet cable to an Apple Airport base station, which is plugged into those other devices via USB and Ethernet. Thank you for your time and attention.

The Westell modem was installed in Dec. 2002 when Verizon first offered DSL.

    • @Animalwon
      @Animalwon 4 ปีที่แล้ว

Wingsley- You should perform a Speed test (Speedtest.com) on your internet connection from a PC connected to your router by an Ethernet cable instead of WiFi. (Wifi is slower) Then bypass the router and connect your PC directly to your router and perform the same Speed test again. This will give you a good idea of your true DSL connection. I am on Spectrum Cable Internet and a while back I found out my router (Linksys AC1500) was causing me a slow down on even the Wired connections. Even though I paid for 100Mbps download speeds, my router couldn't handle more than 70 Mbps DOWN and sometimes no better than 50 Mbps. Your DSL connection may be even a lower speed than mine but if you are getting crappy downloading, it may be your router.

You'd only want to update your modem if the modem itself can no longer handle or receive the speeds your ISP offers. I'd recommend - if you don't already have one - a modem that can handle gigabit speeds, and then upgrade your WiFi router to something like these 👍🏻

Juan C. Alba it won't improve the speeds from your ISP, ( although it should give you the maximum speed possible), but it will improve the backhaul speed and capacity in a mesh so you can have more devices connected at full speed.
