    Just bought this particular router from Target on sale for 65 bucks and its probably the best router I've ever owned. I live in a 2 bedroom single story apartment and I get great speeds and connectivity all over. I love TP link the tether app is really easy to use and setup is really simple. You cannot beat this unit for the money.

    It has one flaw and it is a big one. It overheats like crazy, if you don't have ideal ventilation around it, it will cut off/restart frequently. You can barely keep you hand on it. The hottest router I've ever seen.

    I bought this router, and I was very pleased with it until my ISP upgraded their service from 100 mBps to 600 mBps. The output of the router (both WiFi and ethernet) remains capped at around 95mBps. I have had two technicians from the ISP check the installation, and both confirmed that the ISP is delivering the higher speed (they measured 580mBps), but the the router WAN port seems to be throttling the speed. I was on the phone for an extended period with TP Link Tech Support who had me do numerous tests, but who never suggested any solution to the problem. Eventually, they offered to replace the router, but then a few hours later they reneged on that offer because the warranty period had expired. Bottom line: my AX50 does not perform up to the published specifications for the device, and TP Link has not responded positively to address the issue.

      It sounds like you have QOS enabled and it is throttling your speed. I would turn off QOS and see how the speeds respond. I would also do a wired connection to verify that the router is receiving the max speed.

    Funny because I have the same router w/ Xfinity gig service with an Arris S33 2.5 gig modem and I get 200 Mbps on the 5 ghz channel on my iPhone 12 standing right next to it. Also (have a 1700 sq foot home); my router is in my kids room & only the bathroom separates the kids room from my room and from my room I get a weak signal on my Chromebook & iPhone. I had to buy a TP-Link RE650 extender to put in my bedroom so that I get full signal strength (it's about approx 20 feet from the router to where I sit in my room through 2 walls with the bathroom in the middle and the signal is weak). In the backyard there is pretty much no signal. The only way I have a signal in the backyard is from the extender in my room (both router & extender are on the second floor).
    Ethernet into LAN ports I pull around 200 Mbps. I'd say about 4-5 times since February 2022 I've pulled 600 Mbps through the LAN ports. But 99.9% of the time it's around 200-240 Mbps. Should be at least 700 Mbps via ethernet so something in my simple network is causing these ridiculously slow speeds (I say slow because I pay for 1 gig service). Same thing with my iPhone 12; I've gotten 500 -600 Mbps about 4 times ever and that was standing right next to the AX50.
    So I've gotten 500+ Mbps speeds a handful of times in the last six months so I know it's possible with the hardware I have. But I want 500+ Mbps speeds (wired & wireless) 100% of the time (when I'm using wifi right next to the router).

      And my wifi was really bad. It was like 30% as fast as my old router (which is a single core AC router from ASUS) while using Wifi6. And then I found out online that a lot of these wifi6 routers heat up A LOT and especially this model has a lot of overheating issues.
      So I bought a laptop cooler and I placed both the AX50 and the ZTE GPON on it so that air gets blown straight in the router itself. Now the internet is stable and I am getting about 500 mbps down and 500 mbps up through wifi in my room on my S10+. Up from 120 and 90 like it was before.

      @@OBRider What is the speed of your ISP? If your modem only supports 50Mbps that's all you'll be able to get through your router.
      You only get faster speeds as in range performance, so this router would give you speeds as close to your 50Mbps at a far distance than other routers.

But then reading on the box I suspected it is not a Modem router but only a router. I live in a huge house and our adsl internet has a speed of 56mb.... You can imagine how slow it is!!! I wonder (at least for the moment, since we need to activate an eventual new modem with our provider) if I can use this router to speed it up... That would help... a lot! Thank you very much. • @LamarMK
      @LamarMK  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bennymonaco1315 Haha 😁! The router won’t give you more than 56Mbps, since that’s what you pay for form your ISP. With this router your range and speed will increase at longer distances but not more than 56Mbps.
      For example, the router you have now if you go to another room your max speeds might only be 20Mbps, with this router you might see double that speed or even more.
      If your WiFi doesn’t reach all over your house, you can look into a wifi mesh system, I have a new video on my channel you can check it out.
