the coating is mostly sugar and it dissolves in water. you could try acetone. it should work and evaporate quickly enough to leave the color swirls as a residue you can put resin over.
Do you ever just look back at all of the stuff you have made and think. “ wow I can’t believe I made such amazing things?” Your work blows me away and your projects rock!
I think you're right. Maybe you could stick them down with a thin bit of resin. Once set use the warm water, but let it bleed and then evaporate. Once done pour the final layer of resin. You could test it on a paper plate to see how much water you'd need and how long it would take to evaporate...
This might be a overly simple suggestion but with a little bit bigger sides it would make a cool candy bowl, a TRUE candy dish. Still it's a neat project , keep up the good work!
Someone else commented with the reasons that they watch your videos, and I wholeheartedly agree with all of those reasons. That said, I'd like to add one of my own... You show us the successes and the failures with equal love and care. I really appreciate that.
Here's a challenge: Make a giant solid coloured Skittle or M&M out of resin but have the letters transparent like a window to the inside of it with some cool effects like rainbow film, glitter etc. Maybe a letter on both sides to see straight through? - Loving the channel and artwork, keep it up.
ben im sure ive commented before but love your stuff! i tend to watch when im nervous, and thats what i am right now. i start going back to school tomorrow and im a bit scared, but watching you is helping! and i love the strawberry skittles, and all of the tropical ones
After setting the skittles in the resin, try heating the skittle up with a heat gun. Then pour the heated resin over like you did. I think you might get the effect you were looking for.
I like the acetone idea and would really like to see if it works. You can also manipulate the colors better by blowing air with an air compressor. I’ve seen it on acrylic pour art pieces. I still think your creation was beautiful. Thanks for the video.
This is STUNNING! A little deeper in the center and it would make an awesome Candy dish! 🍬 Also, the reveal music at the end is so perfect! I'm obsessed with your videos, your craft, the ideas you come up with, and ALWAYS the end results!! Thank you! 💜👍🏻
Loved it.. It would make a good wheel handle for a milling machine, table saw and even a lath that uses a wheel as a handle control.. A friend of mine used wood, brass & resin to make a awesome steering wheel.. Thank you for sharing..
You do beautiful work!!! I love how the alcohol inks look much better than the original which looks like paint running. It’s so pretty I would put it on a plate stand somewhere some light would hit it from the back. So pretty!!
I think it came out great buddy. Very cool. The finished product looked awesome. It would look really cool as a lamp with the light shining through. Really psychedelic
I'm obsessed with black light and glow in the dark stuff. I have done crafts with black light paint chips. That I made with just putting paint on plastic sheets and chipping of. I wonder if you can try something like that. If it worked I'm sure the results would be cool 😎
I was wondering whether a blast from a heat gun might have melted the sugar/ colour from the skittles to encourage the colour - runs. Great project as always ben. Always a highlight of my Saturday mornings..thank you 👍🏻
I can’t help but think it’d make a fun candy dish 😄 I know it didn’t work exactly how you wanted but it was still a fun (and colorful!) watch! Thanks for sharing Ben!
I went to the very end result first. Literally skipping over the video. Saw the finished result and was impressed. Never thought that you improvised for the color bleed. I also liked the dish as your item and not a bowl. So I went back to watch the video. Thank you.
Hi Ben, it turned out good. Love them sweets. Alway have the yellow and green 1st get them out of the way. I left berries and orange any combo is Lovely. Have a great day.
I can see that getting pride of place filled with the family sweetie of the month, its so pretty. Can't think how the colours will run in just resin, this could become a really complicated experiment! I'm so disappointed I missed live but 👍 and Thank you.
Can you make a hedgehog with burl? If you find a round one, you can shave it down smooth for the face and leave the spiky burl top! I’d love to see it done. It might need to have space in the resin since it would magnify
As soon as you mentioned the alcohol ink I had an idea. Would simple rubbing alcohol do the same as the hot water? If so, it should be a cinch to let it do it’s thing and evaporate so it doesn’t react badly with the resin.🤔 What do you reckon?
I’d put a bulb 💡 underneath it to make a table lamp or have it upright with the bulb 💡 behind it looks great 😊 well done I’d love to take up resin art but I’ve had a look round and it costs a bomb here in the UK sadly plus I’d need a Lathe etc maybe in the future hey thanks for posting Ben 😊👍
I think this turned out really cool. You know how you put the ice cubes in resin, maybe freeze the candy in ice cubes. Each cube would change color. I dunno just a thought. By the way orange is my favorite. 💖💖💖
Thanks for stopping by, If you have time you can check out my new range of Eggs here www.etsy.com/shop/bensworx
THATS SO COOL LOOKING 😃
OUTSTANDING EXCEPTIONALLY GORGEOUS
Lemon & lime tied.
Cool project Ben why don't you use the dish for skittles or m&m's
Think it would make a nice clock.
the coating is mostly sugar and it dissolves in water. you could try acetone. it should work and evaporate quickly enough to leave the color swirls as a residue you can put resin over.
👍
I wonder if alcohol would work
@@tiffanysandmeier4753 acetone will evaporate faster by far, but alcohol cud work too
@@tiffanysandmeier4753 Yeah drink enough of it and all the colours start to run.
Reasons why we watch Ben’s videos:
1 the projects are awesome and it’s fun to watch them being made
2 Ben seems like a really nice guy
3 the music
4 All the sounds!
I love how the base looks like sea glass! It's so pretty!
Yes, it’s a good idea to lightly tint resin like that because if otherwise left clear, it will gradually discolor over time, taking on a yellow hue.
Do you ever just look back at all of the stuff you have made and think. “ wow I can’t believe I made such amazing things?” Your work blows me away and your projects rock!
Thanks Janna 😊
The skittles color is water soluble, so it makes sense the resin wouldn't affect it the same way. Yay chemistry!
Thanks Lou 😊
The view at the side of the plate on the Turn table is amazing. It looks like colour drops are forming!
I love the illusion of movement when you rotate the dish. Very cool!
I love how it turned out, you matched the colours well with the inks. On a turning stand with a light I it...a moving lamp xxx
Thanks Melissa 😊
I love that, no matter how many times you may have said it previously, you frequently remind viewers to score their smooth surfaces before gluing.
i love the idea you had with the dye on top of the skittles!!! so creative!!
Someone else commented with the reasons that they watch your videos, and I wholeheartedly agree with all of those reasons. That said, I'd like to add one of my own...
You show us the successes and the failures with equal love and care. I really appreciate that.
what a great save, very creative way of achieving the result you were after. and the colors match perfectly as well.
This is so pretty! My first thought is that it would be a cool clock. Skittles are my favorite candy, and the orange ones are my favorite. 😋
I also thought it would make a cool clock! My least favorite skittle is orange, so I'll be sure to send them your way :)
The way you scooped the leftover skittles up... just beautiful. Very talented. But seriously though, love watching your vids!
Saweet!!! As you turn the edge it looks like color is running! Epic piece !
Ben is just the sweetest soul! Whenever I watch his videos, I wish I could meet him in real life

I love how much the color bled. I think it’s perfect!
That distortion around the edges is so cool!
yeah
I love this guy. I have a resin business but I'm still learning. He makes it so much fun!
ben im sure ive commented before but love your stuff! i tend to watch when im nervous, and thats what i am right now. i start going back to school tomorrow and im a bit scared, but watching you is helping! and i love the strawberry skittles, and all of the tropical ones
Thankyou! it's ok to be scared but you'll be okay, once you get there in the morning it will be like you never left, Take Care, Ben
I think adding the ink was a creative solution! Nice job, as always!
I would love to see you make some resin dice or even make a resin project using dice they could be really cool to turn. Love all your videos!
I was sooooo happy when you put the colours together! Also purple is my fav flavour and red is next
That candy shell is so hard. As always Ben you don’t disappoint with your creative ideas.
Thankyou 😊
Aaaaaah the stirring gets me every time. I love it!
After setting the skittles in the resin, try heating the skittle up with a heat gun. Then pour the heated resin over like you did. I think you might get the effect you were looking for.
I was going to say the same thing.
same thoughts here
I had the same thought.
Great idea for a candy dish. I like the green ones
Thanks Scott
I like the acetone idea and would really like to see if it works. You can also manipulate the colors better by blowing air with an air compressor. I’ve seen it on acrylic pour art pieces. I still think your creation was beautiful. Thanks for the video.
Man. Amazing work saving this piece. Perseverance wins the day
Thankyou 😊
Love the "save" there. The end result is really cool.
Looks great. That's a cool effect when it was spinning
This is STUNNING! A little deeper in the center and it would make an awesome Candy dish! 🍬 Also, the reveal music at the end is so perfect! I'm obsessed with your videos, your craft, the ideas you come up with, and ALWAYS the end results!! Thank you! 💜👍🏻
Hey Ben
Nice save, looks great.
Another fun project from you🙂
Take care
Loved it.. It would make a good wheel handle for a milling machine, table saw and even a lath that uses a wheel as a handle control.. A friend of mine used wood, brass & resin to make a awesome steering wheel.. Thank you for sharing..
Lemon or lime is the best flavor of skittles. Also I love your creations! You’re so soothing and positive. 🤩
Always such a joy to find a new Ben video to watch! Great experiment, and fun to watch as usual.thanks for all you do!
I love your channel. It is so satisfying watching that leave turn the resin.
That looks amazing. It would make an awesome base for a light with the same effect or just as a plate
You do beautiful work!!! I love how the alcohol inks look much better than the original which looks like paint running. It’s so pretty I would put it on a plate stand somewhere some light would hit it from the back. So pretty!!
This is a very creative and pretty craft... And using candy!
So it means it's also sweet
the work that u do is so cool
One of the coolest pieces I think you've done! I absolutely love this!
I think it came out great buddy. Very cool. The finished product looked awesome. It would look really cool as a lamp with the light shining through. Really psychedelic
Just ordered my first egg from you. For Mother's Day. Hope to get it soon! Great project! Be safe, be cool! Beach, NC
Thanks Bobby, I appreciate your support :)
Preserving the artisic look of skittles thrown into a toilet in a sophisticated modern piece
this would be PERFECT to use as a launchpad/place for your keys and wallet. BEAUTIFUL
Mines the lemon 👍 turned out great nice little lolly dish
I like this! It looks pretty convincing. I reckon it'll make a good trinket tray, or a key bowl!
What a gorgeous little cookie plate or small cake platter ❤
That color blue is all of it for me
This would make a very cool and interesting clock. Nice work by the way.
Another awesome piece of artwork from Ben..............
this episode was made(uploaded) on my birthday, what a fun surprise finding this was. my favorite is grape.
I'm obsessed with black light and glow in the dark stuff. I have done crafts with black light paint chips. That I made with just putting paint on plastic sheets and chipping of. I wonder if you can try something like that. If it worked I'm sure the results would be cool 😎
😃💯NOT YELLING ALMOST COMPLETELY BLIND
THATS A FANTASTIC IDEA I AGREE 😃
I was wondering whether a blast from a heat gun might have melted the sugar/ colour from the skittles to encourage the colour - runs. Great project as always ben. Always a highlight of my Saturday mornings..thank you 👍🏻
Thanks Paul 😊
I usually jump about your videos. But, I always leave a like. Ben rules.
Nice recovery Ben. Looks great!
Thanks Mike
I can’t help but think it’d make a fun candy dish 😄 I know it didn’t work exactly how you wanted but it was still a fun (and colorful!) watch! Thanks for sharing Ben!
I think the colours will leak & look almost Smokey! Lovely! Can’t wait! 🍬
Love how it looks like it's dripping colours when you turn it
I think if you do the water treatment and let it air dry, then pour resin over it, it might work?
Awesome job anyway, Ben!!!
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻❤️❤️❤️
I like the piece of art as it is now, as a plate or a shallow dish for keys.
I went to the very end result first. Literally skipping over the video. Saw the finished result and was impressed. Never thought that you improvised for the color bleed. I also liked the dish as your item and not a bowl. So I went back to watch the video. Thank you.
It turned out really cool! It would make a neat clock.
It's the perfect candy dish! I love it!
even though it didn't quite turn out how it was meant to I think it looks lovely!
Thankyou
Love it even if the initial idea didn’t work. Love the colours.
Your projects are always so creative! Nice work as usual 😊
I love this project so much!
Guess I had better set a reminder and come back later👍
Hi Ben, it turned out good. Love them sweets. Alway have the yellow and green 1st get them out of the way. I left berries and orange any combo is Lovely. Have a great day.
That looks awesome!!! Make it into a night light. I would buy one of those!!! Pretty work Ben!!!
I think it will make a lovely dish to put keys, change etc. Its beautiful.
I love your ideas for using every day items to resin. Keep up the great work 🍬🍭
I can see that getting pride of place filled with the family sweetie of the month, its so pretty. Can't think how the colours will run in just resin, this could become a really complicated experiment! I'm so disappointed I missed live but 👍 and Thank you.
Thanks Allison 😊
Good color matching. Looks like it really dissolved.
Can you make a hedgehog with burl? If you find a round one, you can shave it down smooth for the face and leave the spiky burl top! I’d love to see it done. It might need to have space in the resin since it would magnify
My favorite skittles are the wild berry ones , mmmm lol . This turned out beautiful , even though it didnt melt properly :)
Thankyou 😊
Looks beautiful, I’d put it on my table. Great idea.
As soon as you mentioned the alcohol ink I had an idea. Would simple rubbing alcohol do the same as the hot water? If so, it should be a cinch to let it do it’s thing and evaporate so it doesn’t react badly with the resin.🤔 What do you reckon?
Looks awesome, would make a really cool candy bowl.
That was a brilliant idea. Love it.
Ben, I think this would look so cool as the top of a mushroom or umbrella!
Nice save with the dye. Looked better than the water one anyway!
They look like little dots of paint. I love it, simple but beautiful. New subbie.
Your videos are mesmerizing, I always like them a lot.
Thankyou 😊
I’d get one of those clock making kits and turn it into a funky wall clock!
Great save, Ben. Even though the original experiment didn't work, you were still able to make something really nice out of it.
Bill
This is so exciting!!!!!!!! 7pm is so far away! 😭
I think this turned out really cool. You know how you put the ice cubes in resin, maybe freeze the candy in ice cubes. Each cube would change color. I dunno just a thought. By the way orange is my favorite. 💖💖💖
Thankyou Connie, I really like that idea 👍
The swirls in the middle look awesome!
Ended up looking amazing Ben!
I think it looks amazing! I never would have thought of the drops! Great idea!
Very cool! Would make an interesting clock!
green has always been my favorite flavor.
That came out beautiful. Love skittles.
