Yeah this video kind of fucking sucks. 2 of the 8 "tips" are actually tips. 1) clutch claw to start/flinch shot into a wall to start 2) when he does his breath weapon at the ground, clutch claw his face Otherwise, the tips translate to 'yeah, just play the game like you have been' 🤷♂️
Another tip would be to bring smoke bombs (and items to craft them) to the fight because if you hide in them you can make Alatreon land if he is flying.
rimeaper5 yes. I hid in a sporepuff before from a Rathalos on accident. I got hit into a spore puff and was stunned while he was flying. I lost his aggro(red ring around minimap) and he landed then started looking around
You can also travel back to camp using your map that way to restock ammo if you're playing solo. Edit; I stand corrected. This only works if you keep shooting him without getting into combat at all.
@@Malakith Yeah. Even if you hide after engaging, there's still a purple outline around your minimap, which stops you from fast-travelling. It's better to just straight up die if you want to restock (you do have 3 chances).
What about the small tip on the background color: that if you carted due to the nova, and you are not sure of its current element, just look at the background color of the battlefield from the camp. Red means it's in fire stage and blue means in ice stage. This helped me because if it got to the third nova it will change element even if both horns are broken.
cool i've never noticed that and what color when it's in dragon mode? also, correct me if I'm wrong, does the background around the battlefield too changes with different modes? for example when it's fire everything around is on fire
Hưng Trần in dragon mode it goes purple. You can also see the inside of his horns glow purple if you break them. Lastly you can also only break the horns in dragon mode so you know when to break em to lock him in the current element.
@@SuperLegenThief Dragon mode is unclear to me, probably need carting a few times to find out. But I doubt it'll be very helpful because dragon mode is more of a short term temporary mode. And yes the battlefield and background around color change on different modes. When it is in ice mode everything is blue and you can see a little bits of frost and icy mist here and there.
Raynor Chen also a good thing to remember is that when Alatreon the first, long winded AOE blast of dragon and Handler says “it’s shifting elements”, and you can see him turning purple, these are all signs to note when he’s gone into dragon active so you can know when to target his horns.
8:16, this is actually true of all monsters, clutch clawing them resets the timer of that animation to 6 seconds so that theres always enough time to do clutch attack with any weapon
Exactly even if you don't want to tenderize anything it's still worth it to quickly clutch and drop down to extend that timer for your teammates and I believe it even helps in single player.
The reason Charge Blade is so good is because of savage axe. As you can see in the chart it says CB and CB phials savage axe counts as normal charge blade not CB Phials. So when you're in savage axe you do about 5 hits per hit, so the first hit and the last hit do normal damage but the 3 in between do about 40 elemental each so about 5 hits knocks him out with elemental already. Just a little correction.
Man, I never clicked with savage axe I always loved just the massive phial dump. Even after solo Extremoth this shit hard and I still have to do fatalis afterwards. I hope its just grinding the rust off the gears.
Saw this on a speed runner, when he does that circle ground explosion. There are 2 explosions, inner/centre then the outer. So wait for the inner to explode then roll to the centre and you will be able to deal some damage to the head. This helped me get my first successful hunt after many failed attempts.
Bring 5 more nutrient so that you can combine them with honey into 5 more mega nutrient. Then you can utilize all 10 of your mendragora as 10 max potions.
As a side note, if you choose to play support for any quest like this and have the Wide Range skill, the great sushifish scales can be applied to everyone.
The main problem is the hero wannabees that keep DPSing when they're almost on half HP - you need to play safe, the extra 200 damage isn't worth it if you end up wiping...
Oh my god. And then there are the ones who are STILL BRINGING LIGHTBREAK/SHATTER WEAPONS. WTF IS WRONG WITH THEM? IT'S BEEN WEEKS!!! And then there are the ones who cart to the gimped Escaton Judgement... How do you fail so badly that the entire team can't keep you alive from a very survivable attack?!? Fuggin randoms...
@@shibiqo3797 There is no better Raw weapon than Lightbreak. If you can join Multiplayer hunts against Alatreon, you can farm Kulve Taroth and Safi'jiiva. Safi's elemental weapons are also quite good, and his siege isn't hard at all, even with a random lobby. There is NO proper reason for someone to still be running the Ruiner weapons against Alatreon.
@@shibiqo3797 Safi came out in December. That was a long time ago. Also, you don't even need to fight Kulve to farm her weapons. Just join HR SOS to farm Gold Wyverian prints, and meld them into her HR Glimstone. Each of those gives you 2 weapons.
My go to Weapon for Alatreon is the Insect Glaive. His big frontal cone Ice breath attack is so much free damage. Instead of trying to avoid it you can just jump straight over it and do the R2/RT down stab right on his head. Under the right circumstances its ~1k damage for a single button press.^^
It took me forever to beat him but I finally did once I used the safi bolt spear. I was using fenrir Storm with max ice attack but I couldn’t beat him. Also learning his attack patterns helps a lot. Once I knew his attacks he got easier. He telegraphs a lot of his attacks once you start watching him
Loncus Zhao I did. I wasn’t expecting to do that great but the team was solid every time. As long as I was contributing to the elemental cap then I was content. Thunder never went lower than a 1 star so it worked out
Upon looking at the actual numerical values, thunder actually isn't bad. It gets gimped to 25% effectiveness in fire active mode, and 40% in dragon active mode though.
one of my favourite things to know is if his lightning particles are going towards him the lightning bolts will start surrounding him further away first then come closer and then if the particles go out they start close to alatreon then move outwards - i just find this handy to know if i should use a move or not
If you're good enough you can beat it with any weapon you're comfortable with. People forget the basics about monster hunter and start complaining way too quick these days. Learn monsters behaviour/moves > craft better gear if needed > smack sh*t out of monster
@@mrdude88 If you're too lazy to craft an elemental weapon, you can still beat him with raw based weapons yes. There's a video around of some doods beating it in about 2 mins with pierce hbgs
@@razor5694 I think he meant solo, with a raw melee weapon. It IS possible. You just have to have good DPS (and fortify, cause you WILL cart to Escaton).
If you're going solo on Alatreon keep in mind that you have to be aggresive with your damage to make Escaton J. bearable, usually eating an Astera's Jerky o by putting vitality mantle on and health booster (But for me, Jerky's win). Don't forget stun resistance, if you're going solo, if you're going multiplayer then you will not need it, but Treon is highly aggresive, bring out smokebombs when he is flying so he lands again, if he's not enraged then wait for his attack based on a jaw drop to the floor, he uses it two times then move his head forward, use that chance to flinch him onto the ground, be prepared to run because he will land far from you. I used this and Treon's Longsword to farm him and i got what i wanted, a weapong to confront Fatalis. Good luck on your hunt, be confident with yourself and keep the aggro on him, it will be more easy this way than keeping your distances, and don't worry if you get carted, it will eventually happen, just make sure you learn from your mistakes, that's it.
I would go for bowgun since hammer can be rough especially for someone struggling with the fight, also if you play on pc I could help you with the assignment if you want.
You dont need to bind crafting for the max potion, as long as you have use max potion in there clicking that will do a combine for you if you've run out and you can click again to use it.
Yes the charge blade phials are pure element. The nice thing is that even though they are heavily nerfed if your using the charge blade correctly they are just extra damage. Power axe mode is especially powerful while the true element discharge i would argue isnt really worth using.
I first got bodied by Alatreon in 2010 and eventually got carried by a friend’s older brother. Fast forward 10yrs later and I still can’t beat this dude.
@@Death_by_Inches its doesnt actually. It implies ' after we have experienced success multiple times, these are the tips to assist in YOUR success that we have accumilated, due to our successfully defeating him on multiple occasions' Sorry you cant english 🤷♂️
I'd say, forget about fire or ice weapons for anyone who's still stuck with special assignments. Unless your team really good at breaking his horn immediately. Use dragon weapons with critical build and weakness exploit. Indeed dragon damage was capped, however you're able to constantly put some elemental DPS on Alatreon. Unlike with fire or ice, you're literally doomed when he change his element with zero elemental DPS. And anyone who use Safii weapons, drop your freakin attack up and swap it with elemental up.
While this is true, if you've looked at the elemental hzv table, Dragon deals close to 0 damage during ice/fire and is not even that much better than thunder/water during Dragon mode. If you don't want to break horns, bring thunder/water
His horns are paper mache and you have several openings to hit his head. Hell, even a wall slam can break his horns. Bringing water, thunder and dragon is a good way to gimp yourself and risk failing the elemental check just because you're affraid to break the horns.
I'd say learn the head openings instead of accepting defeat early. His head openings are generous and you feel like a god when you learn to abuse them. His hitboxes are very fair and when you go in with the correct element (fire for ice and ice for fire) you will consistently get at least two knockdowns in single player and even more in multiplayer.
I’m farming for his set I have all of the part only two direwing are missing and I fought him about 15 times and still didn’t get it must be worth the hard work.
@@Someoneyou_dontknow If you have friend who uses LBG elemental it's easier for the wings to be broken. And then all you have to do is the win the fight hopefully at the end you'll get the rewards "direwing" Or just keep on fighting Alatreon eventually you'll be rewarded with it
@@Someoneyou_dontknow You can go with a LBG/HBG/Bow set and attack only the wings, and when are destroy return from the mision, or continue fighting until the end. When i was farming that item i simply take a sticky build, brake the wings, return, and in the rewards i got 1 wing per mision
Is that really a wise option? If so what kind of weapon works best? I just want to kill this thing once. Not for the armor. Not for the weapons. I just want this kill so it won't be "the one I couldn't slay"
@@furionmax7824 so solo would technically be best as the threshold for elemental damage is easier to get. And best build is litterally anything that focuses on doing high element damage. Weapon i recomend charge blade but focus on elemnt phils, dual blades, or s&w
@@jrgreat86 so, I've been around asking this question. And like yours it's the same. I've come to call this The Glass Cannon Build. Forsake any kind of defense and go full attack. One recommended I use any kind of ice weapon and I can already see the difference compared to a dragon weapon. Btw I main the insect Glaive but bc of the whole gathering phials for the kinsect I have to go with something more efficient because the damn thing won't sit still long enough for me to get his head. So I may be going with the long sword. Charge blade is too slow for this dragon. However. My main concern is the Nova. Any advice for that?
@@jrgreat86 what kind of armor do you recommend? I've been rolling with Safi. Btw. I'm kind of scared of fighting this thing solo. It's attacks are really intimidating.
@@furionmax7824 there are honestly lots of builds you can make. Best i can recommend is focus on one element and make a build with that element attack maxed, gold rath mix set, and max on some crit skills like crit eye and maybe crit draw if you use GS. That should give you a fair chance. The rest is up to your skills
With the first point you just need skill. Dodge the roar (no rocksteady needed). Clutch claw the head as he is about to come down. Move him. Move him again. Wallbang. Poison bomb if your feeling cheeky. Weaken a part. Get ready to dodge his enrage roar. *Then the fight begins!* If you're too slow and he does the lightning attack. Just wait a bit for the timing when he is about to stop the lightning horns effect so when you clutch claw your on him when he's avaliable. *Then* move, move, wallbang. Note this doesnt work on the assignment as you spawn in next to him and he's too far from the wall.
CBs phials are pure ele damage. They also have element on all their other hits, so it's pretty easy to get the topple when combined. Both SAED and Savage Axe work fine but Savage axe tends to get more topples. If you put on rocksteady, it's actually fairly easy to brute force the first topple with Savage Axe.
CB phials have the actual effective threshold incredibly high (which makes sense, otherwise it takes like 1 SAED to break the threshold 3 times) because the devs gimped the actual contribution. On the other hand, Savage Axe is still treated like regular CB, which scales the same as Longsword...
My favorite tip: - Pick up the crystal burst at camp before heading in - After mounting, fire your slinger ammo (i.e. the crystal burst) twice during the mount - YES, YOU CAN FIRE THE SLINGER WHILE MOUNTING :-D (Left trigger >>> Right trigger) - After flinching ×2, you get an immediately mount takedown, rather than spamming knife stabs, which takes MH4ever >:/ - This will save so much time, whether your playing solo or co-op. I managed to get a solo time of 17 mins w/hammer after I learned to do this 🔨 Happy Hunting!! 🐉🤺 P.s. This trick will work on any monster, so long as you have slinger ammo that flinches (e.g. Piercing Pods, Crystal Burst, etc.) :-)
I actually never knew that the flinch from pod shots while mounting actually did something. I thought it was just to prolong the mount not end it faster.
@@christiankirby8092 I just realized I could prolong mounts from your reply lol there's so much in MHW that I think people missed, and it's exciting to be learning more about it even now :D
FYI @9:11 regarding breath attacks. When Alacart is fire active DO NOT claw attack on his head you will most likely die due to the explosion. Unlike the Ice variant
Forego the Ancient potion and just have 5 Nutrients instead. Make a radial binding for crafting Mega-Nutrients and keep 10 Mandragora Shrooms so you can get potentially 12 Max Potions in your run.
Honestly gotta disagree with bringing so many healing items and the defense based items. If you're frequently getting hit and constantly healing to the point where you actually need all of those, then you're going to fail the DPS check and fail the quest. Better to just bring the Max Potions, Dust of Life, the items to craft those, and Astera Jerky for the Nova; those healing items are quick to use and instantly replenish your bar. And the defense items just won't make enough of a difference that they're worth the time to all use and cycle through. Better to save those item slots for something like Smoke Bombs and the items to craft those, which can be used to hide from Alatreon whenever its flying so that it'll land to search for you. Flash Pods won't work when its enraged, so Smoke Bombs are the best alternative to ground it since mounting is a pain and will likely only work once.
I agree to learn his patterns, but having the extra stuff is nice. If time is an issue, fit in speed eater. Bringing all that doesn't mean you'll necessarily use it, it's just a long fight and gets rough to not make a mistake. The demon and defense drugs last till you die, and the pills stack with them and take a second to chomp. They're worth the extra dps/life, imo. You shouldnt have to cycle through anything. You have four wheels, which is plenty of space and saves a ton of time. Smoke bombs are a cool trick! I'll have to try that.
@@hootle4641 By cycling through, I meant upkeeping the buffs with the seeds and powders. The Armorskin and Charm/Talon are free buffs, so if there's space then by all means bring them. But also bringing the defense Seed and Powder is just unnecessary given how defense works in the game. Max Pots and Dust of Life are also already fairly quick to use, hence why I recommend them over something like Mega Pots. Speed Eating also doesn't affect the powder type items, but it can still be useful for the Nova when eating the Jerky. Unfortunately, the nature of the fight requires DPS, so anything that results in wasted time like cycling through a bunch of different buffs and sipping on slow healing items will likely result in a failed quest. Having a bunch of different healing items is nice most of the time, but they won't help when the Nova wipes out your health bar in an instant. 7 Max Pots and 6 Dust of Life should ideally be enough to make up for mistakes throughout the fight. And anyone fighting solo can at least restock two or three times, but a group will just instantly fail at the Nova.
You are correct about the element phials on the charge blade doing pure element damage. I've tested it against Alatreon and when I use a fire element charge blade while he's in fire mode the phials do 0 damage
The savage ax elemental ticks apply tremendous elemental damage to Alatreon and have a higher modifier than pure phials, so savage ax is the best way to build the meter on him, with Triangle on PS4 being the best all around savage attack on him.
Please, this fight feels like it was made for switch axe. Sword mode with elemental phial to hit the threshold and Charged Axe to break the head during knockdown. Not to mention the Axe can reach his head during his biggest openings. I feel like if I didn't do this with switch axe (or probably charge blade but I haven't tried it) I would have a harder time
@@grantgarbour after grinding out the fight, I do see it as easy as you describe it, but I'm just bad and the first dozen runs I couldn't handle alatreon lol
@@cortify3610 I get that lol, it took a while for me to learn his openings but I have it pretty downpacked, I have the armor and don't really want the weapons but I kinda just wanna fight him again for fun lol
Maybe it's just me but I dont think taking the rocksteady mantel just to get a flinch shot at the beginning of the fight when you can take a mantel with a much shorter cooldown and much better slots. Or even a health booster.
Right now my best way to it is pair with someone that has a raging brach GS - as I use a maxed-out kjar ice bow and can do all the elemental DPS targets on a 2 people run - and have that person break the horns. Works really well, and the bow has a sleep coating to easy up one horn break. A pair with 1 elemental powerhouse and one physical heavy weapon powerhouse works really well for doubles
Charge blade is really good if you use savage axe/sword and shield attacks, since physical hits use the same modifier as something like a greatsword while you are also making a lot of successive hits. Personally, I've been able to guarantee at least 1 topple before being able to fill my third set of phials
Prioritize the horns during first stage. I cannot stress this enough because when he still has two horns, the elements weapons you start off will be redundant as he will automatically change from fire to ice actives (vice versa) when he uses Escaton judgement.
If you have max potion on radial, and select it when you have none but do have the materials to craft it, it will instead craft one which you can then select again in order to eat it - you do not need to put crafting on your radial, unless you want to also bring nutrients, craft more mega nutrients, and then craft yet more max potions
His thunder and dragon attack is the easiest opportunity to get close and deal dmg, its easier to telegraph too. Also I heard that based on the maths, using water and thunder is more effective than dragon for elemental check
Throughout my successful runs I've had people use GrSword, Swd&Shld, Chargeblade, both bowguns, and LngSwd. Also a mix of Dragon and fire or ice depending on the quest work well if everybody plans accordingly.
Even though I’ve been farming sushi fish scales since World, I’m still a cheap-ass and try to save them from being consumed when I do bring them into a hunt. General tip, if you can bring your palico, equip it with the vigor wasp tool. Whether hunting Alatreon solo or with a team, it’d be valuable to bring the free meal (satiated) skill. Once you set out there’s no going back (except for fainting of course), so it would be of interest to preserve your consumables as long as you can during the hunt.
@@Norfma Yea coral orchestra is nice to bring along. I don't know if I've been imagining it, but I think I remember my palico can remove poison with the coral horn. Maybe it can remove other blights, but I haven't tried experimenting with it yet.
So I use the gamma velkhana armor with frostfang barrioth dual blades or charge blade with level 2 resistance so I can still take advantage of the level 3 coalescence skill and frostcraft and also mushroomancer is extremely handy for quick heals since you can carry 10 mandragoras which act like max potions
You forgot the most important tip, offense is the best defense in this fight. It is very very VERY important to keep damaging him to reach the elemental DPS check. Staying on the defensive will actually kill you via its Escaton Judgment.
@IntroventierterWichser Seeing as you seem interested, 3 piece Alatreon, 2 piece Velkhana, Alatreon LS. Level 6 Dragon attack (4 from the legs, then the free +4 deco). It's much, much, MUCH safer than Safi, even though the element isn't as high and the Ala set bonus isn't as strong. The 3 piece Alatreon (with Elemental Res L) actually gives you over 20 element resistance for every single element (with like 2 other 1 slot decos) and I personally gem in Defense 7 too (just for extra tankiness). If you do that, you essentially get lightly tapped by his attacks. Except that air dragon explosion. That still takes away over 1/2 my health even with Dragon res over 50. But everything else is very safe, and you don't have to gem in any Blight res (which is just a worse version of having elemental res over 20). It sounds expensive, but it's actually quite fun. It's good practice for soloing him too. A great challenge is to topple Alatreon BEFORE he gets into Dragon Active.
Still have not beat the bastard lol came close a handful of times but the deaths caught up to us in the end. It really is funny how if you go in with a group and only 1 of them is slacking chances are you wont break the wall. I wish the damage it takes to break the wall was just a little lower but other than that the fight is doable.
Defense boosting items are excessive except for armor charm and armor talon. The other defense items barely reduce damage at all and it's just more things for you to reapply and scroll through.
I second it being easier. Sure she does around the same amount of damage but she's much less likely to wombo combo you like alatreon who can be ruthless at times.
Thanks guys, the first couple times I fought her solo it was just frustrating that all of her attacks in the first phase take up the entire arena and since I'm too busy getting flung through the air I can't damage her enough to pass the very abrupt dps check. So I just noped putta the fight. But I saw the stuff like weaken double flinch shot, and a couple runs so I think I have an idea of how to do it
I kept trying to do it solo with an elemental great sword build and I gave up a few days ago, and I have no interest in doing this with randoms. So it’s kind of just whatever to me at this point.
Well good tips to know. I just finished the investigation with full velkhana armor and velkhana charge blade. Safi is not avail so I guess just gotta try with what I got

Crit Draw GS for the win baby I didn’t think I’d be able to meet the DPS check but boy oh boy did the giant Swordfish GS bring the pain!!! It’s helped me get two solo Aletreon kills so far 🐟❄️
I'm pretty sure I'm on my 50th maybe 70th attempt right now. I have almost all of his weapons and two of them are already 12 ranked. Mind you, I have not defeated him a single damn time.
I'd suggest you to go solo the first time, or in a 2 person team, it's much easier, once you do it the first time, every time you try to do it it's in the events, and ppl there are more likely to know how to play.
joshua boyjoo thats only partly true, I went in solo more times then I can count and I’ve gotten to the 4th nova, the 4TH! He wouldn’t die, and going solo doesn’t help for me also cause it just doubles the annoyance and pressure I have to deal with. Yes I know his health is lower and everything but it doesn’t even look like it makes a difference when I can’t even kill him after lasting that long. With ice that means breaking his horns twice and surviving 3 novas before getting completely screwed over in the 4th dps check because his horns can only break twice (wish you could break his horns multiple times pls)
@@joyboy1322 I usually use Greatsword but apparently that's not working for me. Do you know any easier weapon with a good build along with it? My RNG with rare gems have been pretty good surprisingly so I'll probably be able to make the build you bring up.
this is late but general tip for people that are also bad at the game ;) bring 10 mandragora and honey and make a button for crafting mega nutrients! Then you can have like 12 max potions or something idk it’s a lot.
Based on the number of parts I have gotten from drops I think I am on 50+ with no success. I have only seen a 2nd E. Judgement, maybe twice. Are there any groups out there that you can join and pay for a clear? At this point I just want to get past the Special Assignment.
I think everyone who has a weapon that does good elemental damage will do better with the weapons they are comfortable with. There is no one best weapon but rather several good ones and each person has a preference out of those weapons and thus do better with them.
It has to do with Alatreon's first action. If he crouches back to start charging forwards, and you slap him in the middle of that, then the flinch-shot succeeds. There are others that work, but also plenty of actions which cause it to fail. RNG basically.
My typical start to every fight is wall launch then mount and weaken. I use hbg a lot with a shield so I can stay in their face and not worry about dying
I don't see how anyone can beat him, I've fought him multiple times with friends and randoms and never got too far, only reason why I have a decent amount of his materials is from the plunderblade.
Safijiva, but then again our guiding ones is maxed out so we are augmented as hell. This quest imo this quest shouldn’t be available till your at least master rank 150

deadbard yeah 30 whole minutes doesn’t sound like much now but when you’re halted from farming Kulve and you realize that in order to make this easier we gotta waste 30 minutes capturing a banbaro, a nightshade, then waiting for flourishing butterbur and climbing a mountain for some Tequila. It’s all about perspective deadbard, you don’t really know unless it’s happened to you. Which by the way is why this Ala fight is so controversial. It’s not that easy to say “take safi armour and an elemental in your set and you’re done” but yet people still say it.
delsin cyrille I suggest you focus on hitting only 2 parts: either the head or the front legs. Once both horns are broken, focus only on the front legs because these are the parts that receive the largest elemental damage.

I just have no clue how to keep track of so many things).
@@LoncusZhao So, you only put whatever ammo you need on your Item pouch and you only craft that ammo from the radial menu so that you don't mess up and end crafting other shiet xd Since it's a sticky build you have no reason to use any other ammo except sticky ammo. Not actual opening tips? Like the aoe thunder rain, you can stant in front of his front legs and get free damage i the form of spirit helmbreaker, perfect rush, demon dance, etc. Or when he does the fire layered explosion, if you stay out of the range of the first explosion you can just roll to the center and get some extra hits. The Stygian Zinogre like attack where he summons lighting, if you stay close to him you can evade the first wall of lightning and get free hits to the head, since it has a lot of recovery animation. Same with the massive aoe ice breath attack, you're immune if you stand under his head.
All correct. Just remember that he has 2 types of Thunder rain, and they either radiate outwards or come inwards. Depending on the one, your openings change. The one coming inwards is just free damage (while making sure you aren't directly in front of his head), but you have to position yourself slightly to the left, right of his head or closer to Alatreon's body for the radiating outwards.
No, safi still wins 2 points if i'm not mistaken. In LBG ele ammo, that means atleast 200 damage (?) CMIIW. I'm currently using this safi x ala set because it gives you more defense in return.
Alatreon armor is basically Safi armor but more safe with no health drain but minus the affinity. But overall full Safi armor is basically more powerful in terms of offensiveness.
At first having struggled and failing probably close to 10 times in a row and now having countless back to back flawless runs done, here's what I can give to you all: BLIGHT RESISTANCE 3 AND HEALTH AUGMENT MAKE THE FIGHT EXTREMELY EASY Applies for both solo and mp (I play mostly mp) Also make sure to flinch shot him every time he's yellow, knockdowns make breaking horns a cakewalk. Elemental trips you should achieve by just playing normally (best elemental HZs are his front legs though so focus those if you are struggling to meet the threshold) Literally any weapon works great (HBG is iffy), but if you are playing IG stick to ground glaive (you can mount him once first, after that his threshold just gets too high so it's not worth it going for any more mounts) Oh yeah and when he starts channeling Escaton you get literally 5 seconds of free dps before the need to use a jerky so dont just back off and afk, just make sure you have time to gobble that bad boi up One more thing, DO NOT USE DRAGON ELEMENT IF YOU HAVE ANY OTHER ELEMENT AVAILABLE! His Dragon HZ values are absolute garbage so although the game claims he's 2* weak to it it's the Nergi Thunder case all over again, so not worth. If you have the choice and can consistently break the horns, you should always just match the starting element's weakness. I have personally just run Safi's Water GS (we always go the fire start quest since my friends both run Ice) and we can consistently meet the threshold in about 3-4 minutes so don't sweat that part But yeah, I used to cart a lot but after the health augment + blight res set up I think I have died twice total (I play GS, and started learning it with Alatreon so it really makes the quest exponentially easier) Happy hunting and good luck!

the one thing id say to help is either one or four do not do an imbetween and ice, do ice damage
there's really no consequences to losing the battle, just simply try again, never give up, hunter
Yeah this video kind of fucking sucks. 2 of the 8 "tips" are actually tips.
1) clutch claw to start/flinch shot into a wall to start
2) when he does his breath weapon at the ground, clutch claw his face
Otherwise, the tips translate to 'yeah, just play the game like you have been' 🤷♂️

If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ESCATON JUDGEMENT!
Sub last dodge for "dont die"
Change the dodge to damage.
Master the 5 d's and you can take down alatreon blindfolded
Another tip would be to bring smoke bombs (and items to craft them) to the fight because if you hide in them you can make Alatreon land if he is flying.
Does this work for every flying monster?🤔🤔
rimeaper5 yes.
You can also flinch shot him out of the sky. Unless he's enraged or in an animation, he'll come crashing down.
If alatreon is in dragon active then the whole area will become more clear like look to it and the fire in background will be somewhat calm down
8:16, this is actually true of all monsters, clutch clawing them resets the timer of that animation to 6 seconds so that theres always enough time to do clutch attack with any weapon

Loncus Zhao well excuse me for not having better weapons
@@shibiqo3797 There is no better Raw weapon than Lightbreak. If you can join Multiplayer hunts against Alatreon, you can farm Kulve Taroth and Safi'jiiva. Safi's elemental weapons are also quite good, and his siege isn't hard at all, even with a random lobby. There is NO proper reason for someone to still be running the Ruiner weapons against Alatreon.
Loncus Zhao the siege isn’t even out rn
If you can fit speed eating on your build, it would practically turn all your mega potions into max potions.
It took me forever to beat him but I finally did once I used the safi bolt spear. I was using fenrir Storm with max ice attack but I couldn’t beat him. Also learning his attack patterns helps a lot. Once I knew his attacks he got easier. He telegraphs a lot of his attacks once you start watching him
... You used Thunder? on Alatreon? You brave man.
Loncus Zhao I did. I wasn’t expecting to do that great but the team was solid every time. As long as I was contributing to the elemental cap then I was content. Thunder never went lower than a 1 star so it worked out
Upon looking at the actual numerical values, thunder actually isn't bad. It gets gimped to 25% effectiveness in fire active mode, and 40% in dragon active mode though.
one of my favourite things to know is if his lightning particles are going towards him the lightning bolts will start surrounding him further away first then come closer and then if the particles go out they start close to alatreon then move outwards - i just find this handy to know if i should use a move or not
Reliable Roy at your service 😎 (thanks for the mention it means a lot 🥺)
I've had a lot of success with SA, and LS.

@@mrdude88 If you're too lazy to craft an elemental weapon, you can still beat him with raw based weapons yes. There's a video around of some doods beating it in about 2 mins with pierce hbgs
Same. I actually use both of those more now
@@razor5694 I think he meant solo, with a raw melee weapon.
I'm still struggling with this beast. Haven't got past special assignment yet. What's best to use...the bowguns or hammer? Please advise
I would go for bowgun since hammer can be rough especially for someone struggling with the fight, also if you play on pc I could help you with the assignment if you want.
I would choose hammer. It does blunt ko damage which can break the horns thus, weakening escaping judgment which is a key component to success.
@@thomasgibson8083 breaking the horns only makes it not switch elements. Doing elemental damage is how you weaken escaton judgement

Yes the charge blade phials are pure element. The nice thing is that even though they are heavily nerfed if your using the charge blade correctly they are just extra damage. Power axe mode is especially powerful while the true element discharge i would argue isnt really worth using.
Mushroomancer is good for longevity, 10 Mandragora mushrooms can be used like 10 max potions.

Dragon attribute for dual Blades right? What armor build do you have?
Furion Max Dragon ain’t gonna help you, gotta get good. Bring the opposite element he starts with, and break the horns. It’s all a matter of learning.
"The person who first enters the arena" in the Special Assignment?
Rather for the event quest, I think.
While some things can be applied to the Special Assignment, it seems like this video is geared more towards farming him than your first kill.
Look at the title dude. It assumes you've beaten him by now since it's been almost 2 weeks. Sure you aren't using blast weapons still?

Btw I main the insect Glaive but bc of the whole gathering phials for the kinsect I have to go with something more efficient because the damn thing won't sit still long enough for me to get his head. However. My main concern is the Nova. Any advice for that?

With the first point you just need skill.
Dodge the roar (no rocksteady needed).
Clutch claw the head as he is about to come down.
Move him.
Move him again.
Wallbang.
Poison bomb if your feeling cheeky.
Weaken a part.
Get ready to dodge his enrage roar.

Note this doesnt work on the assignment as you spawn in next to him and he's too far from the wall.
who needs rocksteady when u can just use evasion mantle and roll as soon as he stands on his 2 back legs... insta dmg boost
My favorite tip:
- Pick up the crystal burst at camp before heading in
- After mounting, fire your slinger ammo (i.e. the crystal burst) twice during the mount
- YES, YOU CAN FIRE THE SLINGER WHILE MOUNTING :-D (Left trigger >>> Right trigger)
- After flinching ×2, you get an immediately mount takedown, rather than spamming knife stabs, which takes MH4ever >:/
- This will save so much time, whether your playing solo or co-op. I managed to get a solo time of 17 mins w/hammer after I learned to do this 🔨
Happy Hunting!! 🐉🤺
Yup, get burnt if cling to it during the fire breath.
I just used the arch temp namie. Did very good :)
I slotted for mushroomancer, brought 10 Mandragoras and other shrooms. BOOM. Comfiest 20 minute hunt ever.
You are correct about the element phials on the charge blade doing pure element damage. I've tested it against Alatreon and when I use a fire element charge blade while he's in fire mode the phials do 0 damage
Would that mean that 100% of the phial damage contribute to the dos check? (like SAED for example)
@@SadPeachCat it does

The savage ax elemental ticks apply tremendous elemental damage to Alatreon and have a higher modifier than pure phials, so savage ax is the best way to build the meter on him, with Triangle on PS4 being the best all around savage attack on him.
You can essentially carry a 4-player team with 3 raw weapons if you do this properly, even if you are the only one contributing to element.
as a swaxe main i must say, its harder to do this fight with it than other weapons, but man when you know the moves and play optimally, pure bliss

For not having any safi weapons or gear, what other hbg can you use that does that pierce build damage?
Charge blade is really good if you use savage axe/sword and shield attacks, since physical hits use the same modifier as something like a greatsword while you are also making a lot of successive hits. Personally, I've been able to guarantee at least 1 topple before being able to fill my third set of phials
Prioritize the horns during first stage. I cannot stress this enough because when he still has two horns, the elements weapons you start off will be redundant as he will automatically change from fire to ice actives (vice versa) when he uses Escaton judgement.
Or use dragon weapons, works wonder for any aggressive players who already learn how to dance with Alatreon.
last time I was this early at a video Alatreon was still wooping my ass
yeah I was early to another video 5 minutes ago
If you have max potion on radial, and select it when you have none but do have the materials to craft it, it will instead craft one which you can then select again in order to eat it - you do not need to put crafting on your radial, unless you want to also bring nutrients, craft more mega nutrients, and then craft yet more max potions
It was hard enough to beat in MH3U, but this is just INSANE!
Already have that last sticky LBG build. I use it a lot for farming, especially in the guiding lands.
In my experience, the buffs of the coral orchestra are more useful than the vigor wasp, but that's up to personnal preferences I suppose.
As someone who never really uses LS.... LS made this a LOT easier for me.
It really is funny how if you go in with a group and only 1 of them is slacking chances are you wont break the wall. wide range, might pill, free meal spam throughout fight helped pretty good when i tried it. Not a primary concern though.
Well good tips to know. I just finished the investigation with full velkhana armor and velkhana charge blade. Safi is not avail so I guess just gotta try with what I got
Beaten him 10+ times with randoms and helping special assignments using SA. Evade window maxed and evade extender is godly. Combined with Safe Landing from Acrobat earrings I feel like Tanjiro from Demonslayer lol
Crit Draw GS for the win baby I didn’t think I’d be able to meet the DPS check but boy oh boy did the giant Swordfish GS bring the pain!!! It’s helped me get two solo Aletreon kills so far 🐟❄️
Crit draw plus slugger, it's the old trick with Alatreon.
Enigma X kjarr daggers Ice (health regen 1, rest element up) SAFI CROWN B( critical/protection), ( expert 1), (defense 1) ESCADORA B (hard fire res jewel), (frost jewel), ( gobbler 1) SAFI VAMBRACES B (hard defense jewel), ( tenderizer), ( tenderizer) ESCADORA MIGHT A ( sharp jewel), ( gobbler ) SAFI BOOTS B ( hard defense),(tenderizer),(gobbler)
Wait wut... how did you manage to farm his direwing?
this is late but general tip for people that are also bad at the game ;) bring 10 mandragora and honey and make a button for crafting mega nutrients!
Have you tried going solo?
Please make an updated decoration farming i have nothing and there's no events currently to farm any
just do tempered investigations, thats how you get decos without events
@@Drischa alright ill try doing them thanks for the tip
I think everyone who has a weapon that does good elemental damage will do better with the weapons they are comfortable with. There is no one best weapon but rather several good ones and each person has a preference out of those weapons and thus do better with them.
The only thing I learned was that soloing rather than relying on idiot teammates was the way to go.
I’ve beat Alatreon with groups and solo, and I never see that beginning flinch shot work. Just crappy luck I guess lol
Have you beat him yet?
@@bigcsbigbrother3685 ya got the set a few weeks ago lol just not the weapon cause I need to get another tail and wing I believe
Me and my little bro beat hom
Safijiva, but then again our guiding ones is maxed out so we are augmented as hell. This quest imo this quest shouldn’t be available till your at least master rank 150
@@albertsotomayor5432 I finally killed him awhile back and got the full armor set, I've had the safi set as well as the weapons and my rank is only like 70 something all it is is skill not rank considering you can farm safi regardless of rank and it's good gear
What i love about this channel is
“To beat this monster, you need to use this armour/weapon, to get them you need to beat the monster that your watching this guide to beat!”
How did you make your intro
Phials do 0 damage when you're on the wrong element, so yes, they are 100% elemental.
Instead of those gloamgrass and godbug, Bring 10 immunizer and 10 kelbi horn for 10 additional ancient potion.
Killed Alatreon 7 times, what a hell of a monster
He is my fav fight rn
I killed him 10 times already by myself lol by using the frostfang longsword, it has a lot of ice attack
I tried my best and I cant kill it because even if I break both horns and keep hitting him after the third escanor I'm pretty much screwed
Quick tip, if you're on your last cart and you know he's going to wipe you with EJ next: wait until you can eat again pop a gourmet voucher and eat for safeguard.
deadbard only if you have the ingredients for safeguard! My buddy and I just found out and went on a wild goose chase to find all of them :(
@@warthogvanguard7292 Well yeah, but they're not exactly hard to get, 30 mins and you can get all
deadbard yeah 30 whole minutes doesn’t sound like much now but when you’re halted from farming Kulve and you realize that in order to make this easier we gotta waste 30 minutes capturing a banbaro, a nightshade, then waiting for flourishing butterbur and climbing a mountain for some Tequila.
Once both horns are broken, focus only on the front legs because these are the parts that receive the largest elemental damage.
which food is good ?
Ngl kulve armor free meal saved me so many times fighting this avatar lizard
>really struggling in the game
>remember tbe monster and try hard
>me as a bowgun main because i'm garbage at the game and can only play skilless weapons like shield HBG and sticky aquashot
I cri everitime
Many people can't play bowgun. Also, sticky aquashot and sticky in general is overpowered
@@bananasaur5209 ok so whats your point
@@SadPeachCat just saying that there's no reason to say that you're garbage at the game just because you use those weapons
@@bananasaur5209 On the topic of bowgun, how do you make it look so easy? I tried out a sticky build, but I keep failing my evade-reloads and accidentally switching to Normal 1 when my stickys run out and I have to craft more (I AM using the radial menu.
So you're probably taking sticky ammo 1, 2 and 3 for the fight. Also, I only use the radial menu for crafting ammo. I use the normal menu for the other stuff.
Anybody know where is "hey whats going on guys, arekkz here, and welcome back to another video.." at?
So actually 3 safi and 2 escadora deals more overall damage with an elementale build than full safi? Are you sure?
No, safi still wins 2 points if i'm not mistaken. In LBG ele ammo, that means atleast 200 damage (?) CMIIW. I'm currently using this safi x ala set because it gives you more defense in return.
Alatreon armor is basically Safi armor but more safe with no health drain but minus the affinity. But overall full Safi armor is basically more powerful in terms of offensiveness.
Video never said it does more damage than 5 piece safi, what are you high on?
Thanks i'll stick with safi then
@@SadPeachCat in fact: the video didn't say, I asked. Why so salty?
So hypothetically you could hit dragon mode alatreon 5 times with his gs and escadora a+ on and you'd be set for first knockdown
At first having struggled and failing probably close to 10 times in a row and now having countless back to back flawless runs done, here's what I can give to you all:
BLIGHT RESISTANCE 3 AND HEALTH AUGMENT MAKE THE FIGHT EXTREMELY EASY
Applies for both solo and mp (I play mostly mp)
Also make sure to flinch shot him every time he's yellow, knockdowns make breaking horns a cakewalk. Elemental trips you should achieve by just playing normally (best elemental HZs are his front legs though so focus those if you are struggling to meet the threshold)
Literally any weapon works great (HBG is iffy), but if you are playing IG stick to ground glaive (you can mount him once first, after that his threshold just gets too high so it's not worth it going for any more mounts)
Oh yeah and when he starts channeling Escaton you get literally 5 seconds of free dps before the need to use a jerky so dont just back off and afk, just make sure you have time to gobble that bad boi up
One more thing, DO NOT USE DRAGON ELEMENT IF YOU HAVE ANY OTHER ELEMENT AVAILABLE! His Dragon HZ values are absolute garbage so although the game claims he's 2* weak to it it's the Nergi Thunder case all over again, so not worth. If you have the choice and can consistently break the horns, you should always just match the starting element's weakness. I have personally just run Safi's Water GS (we always go the fire start quest since my friends both run Ice) and we can consistently meet the threshold in about 3-4 minutes so don't sweat that part
But yeah, I used to cart a lot but after the health augment + blight res set up I think I have died twice total (I play GS, and started learning it with Alatreon so it really makes the quest exponentially easier)
Happy hunting and good luck!
I've had no luck yet but it's likely because I'm not using the right set ups and trying to take him on too early
I just ignore the potions + honey. Instead bring mats to craft 5 more mega nutrients so you can craft 5 additional max potions.
Yeah, that first won’t help until I beat the Special Assignment. Which I haven’t.
Sushi scales are OP!
