There's been a huge influx of new viewers, I hope you're all as excited for Wilds as I am!! I will be streaming and posting some runs of the public demo when it becomes available, as well as do a full lance playthrough on release of the full game (and possibly a few speedruns or challenge playthroughs), so keep a look out on this channel and on my Twitch (www.twitch.tv/likelytoph)!! Would love to see you there
Thank you so much! I've put a lot of time into this matchup specifically and this is a lucky run with a good script, so honestly it's not that useful to compare yourself to. I'm happy for every person out there playing lance and I'm sure your poking skills are adequate :)
Second time watching. This speedrun makes me so proud of the Lance community. It's so awesome to play a weapon with such a small playerbase, because whenever somebody does something cool everyone gets together to congratulate them. Amazing stuff
Thank you, I appreciate that so much! I feel the same way, lance is such an amazing weapon in 5th gen (and Wilds from the bit I've experienced) and it makes me really happy to be one of the people pushing it to its limits and getting to be part of this community in that way
"Let me just poke this stereotypical looking dragon and block everything he throws at me, then I'll call it a day." This is a very different fight compared to all the other weapons. Love it.
First of all, amazing run. Very technical execution, stunning positioning. All guards into powerguards were on point, as were all CCounters. You got yourself a new subscriber. As a side-note: I've noticed several comments about their posters suddenly feeling bad or devoid of skill as Lance players, so let me tell you one thing: you should not really compare yourself to speedrunners of the highest caliber. While it is undeniable that their skill is above that of most of us - me included - they still follow a script and grind certain fights for weeks, sometimes months. You simply cannot get close to those times without following the same procedure. So don't feel too bad about yourselves!
@@Raisera Thank you so much for the high praise 😌 And I fully agree, it can be useful for a normal player to watch speedruns to try and understand how to position or use openings better, as well as seeing what is possible in the first place. But comparing your casual 15+ minute fights to a fully scripted speedrun, of which you only see the one run with minimal mistakes and bad rng, is essentially pointless.
Damn this is probably the best lance gameplay I've ever seen. I didn't even know the weapon could do some of this and will hopefully integrate it into my own gameplay. Well done!
INSANE run holy shit. Peak lance gameplay, creative use of the mantles too, I was wondering what glider was doing there until I saw the jewels, will definitely look upon this
I recently picked up the lance after not liking it much in previous games, thanks to the word of a friend. I wasn't fully convinced that the lance was a very dynamic weapon until this video. Great run!
@@ianluk6385 This is a really common opinion tbh, many people pick up lance at the start of the game and see the abysmal walk speed and not being able to move while blocking and they decide it's too turtly and slow for them, when in reality the weapon is capable of really fun and aggressive ways to position and keep up damage. I commend the world endgame for really making you learn how to do it too, between DPS checks and "if there's too much distance between you and the monster, you're probably dead" as is the case with Fatalis and AT velk
@dot_execute-0 yeah, I must admit that, as someone who primarily used Dual Blades and Long Sword (and then went on to main Insect Glaive since it was introduced), I didn't really like the idea of the lance as much at first. I really tried it out in 4U, and I liked it enough but it still wasn't exactly what I was looking for. And I expected to like it even less in World since my main, Insect Glaive, became the most mobile weapon in the game, and getting used to being (comparatively) less mobile would be a chore. But after trying it out again I like it a lot!
The only thing that matters is that youre having fun with the weapon :) This took a ton of time and I think many people would really not enjoy grinding this many runs, and thats fine too c:
this is just the cleanest lance fatalis run i've ever seen, good job! i thought there's gonna be a lot of cheese on it (like that certain video) but i was wrong. GG!!
Thank you!! It was honestly my main goal to beat the run(s) utilizing heroics and heavy scripting, and when I saw Joseph's run I knew it was possible and doable. Playing the actual matchup is much more fun to me than AI manipulation and resetting for good RNG (which is also the reason I'm not pushing this run further or trying to get other competitive runs)
Man you're one of my inspirations to get better at Lancing in Iceborne! 4:33 that's Sunbreak Lance for a solid 10 seconds lmao Edited: Also, how much do you suggest Heat Guard specifically for Lancing against Fatalis? I can survive fighting him on the burning ground but the burn damage is pretty bad that I'm interested in using one after watching your run.
I use the Velkhana greaves for peak performance 3, and during the third phase it's extremely common (especially for lance since you mostly defend statically) to be standing in the fire, so peak performance basically isn't active at all without heat guard. It's rare that I have to worry about dying during runs like this (though it does happen, like at 5:00), so the reason I run it is mostly for the damage increase. Also I appreciate that a lot, keep practicing and learning and you'll get there in no time :)

As someone who just picked up the lance, you are someone I aspire to be as good as. Quick question, how do you have your skill display at the end so clean? The set bonuses being at the end and the food skills being separate is really nice
@@ERFMXVCC I appreciate that! The skill display is all vanilla so I think it just has to do with the number of active skills happening to line up with the page limit

I talked about it in another comment: It's a bit complicated, there's basically 2 instances of knockback that's hitting me. The fireball first, which causes heavy knockback and would keep me stuck in block. The second knockback comes from the wind Fatalis causes when flying up, which is light knockback, overrides the animation I'm in and allows me to immediately act again.
