- In this video I cover how to play the 4 main triad types (Maj, min, dim, aug) on string set 123 of the guitar (i.e. strings 1, 2, and 3) in Root position, 1st inversion, and 2nd inversion.

@@garyleemusic hello, i think maybe taking a simple song like Beatles let it be , and first playing it finger stile with open chords.Then spicing it up with some triads …
Also , forming triad loops. I.e. starting with a D maj triad, and move it up all the way to E triad, 12 fret, then go back to F triad, then .. g,a,b,c, and back to where it started at D. Plus some others,..

It stars with C major then goes to D min and E minor then F major etc. Why is the D and E a minor then back to F major. I know the C major scale as C D E F G. Sorry, I just want to make sure I understand correctly as I learn. Thanks.

OK now that I sort of have them memoized, well how does one use the triads? How can I harmonize them all in minor and major keys, and use them in songs and instrumental jams?
I hope to do a video on this soon. I would recommend taking a very simple melody (kids song, or hymn perhaps) and playing using only triads.
Or taking your favorite songs and playing the chord progression using the triad shapes instead of full barre chords.

I don’t really think of the triad shapes in the CAGED system.

C7+ is the same as C7 (#5).
It is a C7 chord with a raised 5th. It contains the notes:
C E G# Bb
Love this, but I think it might have been better to split them into deferent video’s. Just a little bit to long to try and take it all in. (Well for me anyway)

Dim triads are options used as a substitute for a Dominant 7 chord. For example when you see a G7 chord you can play Bdim triad.
Augmented triads don’t appear naturally in a major scale but they can also be used to embellish a dominant 7 chord. For example experiment using a G augmented or B augmented triad when you see a G7 chord
Interesting presentation. But change your fourth diagram to correspond to what you played. Currently it shows B augmented.
The diagrams are fret independent. They’re just showing the shapes, and not associated with any particular fret.
but what if I only have 2, 3 or 1 finger?

THE CHART DID NOT COINCIDE WITH THE FINGERING BUT WE GET THE POINT. HARD TO DETERMINE THE FIRST FRET FROM THE SECOND OR THIRD... THIS DIDNT TAKE AWAY FROM THE LESSON BUT THE CHART DID NOT MATCH YOUR VIDEO.... FYI IF THAT THE CASE THE MAJ AND THE AUG CHART WOULD BE THE SAME, THE ONLY DIFFERENCE WOULD BE THE #5.
The charts are fret independent. They are meant to show the shapes only and are not associated with any particular fret.
are augmented shapes the same on other string sets?
The augmented shapes are the same within a given string set. But they may differ when comparing two different string sets.
