11:22 _"...and you also can't add the secret ingredient, which is love."_
Karl may have stumbled onto the *real* reason food prices have gone up so much: *A worldwide shortage of **_love._*
This rings more truthful on so many levels that goes beyond joke, satire and parabole, and goes deeply into the philosophy of production; I do see a direct parallel between the quality and the care or love put into producing a food item, there's legitimately a correlation. There's a reason we have chefs and kitchen scientist specialists, you legitimately cannot reproduce "good seasoning" with regular people being cooks and robots. There's a knowledge, knack and feel that someone who is not a specialist with experience cannot reproduce.
And an overabundance of greed.
@@Pibblepunkjust throwing this out there, but I would almost bet greed is directly correlated with how much love a person experienced in childhood, or is currently experiencing.....
Maybe not in every case. But many I'm sure
@@ryurc3033 exactly.
Air bubbles in chocolate are traditionally considered a defect, which vibrating conveyor belts are employed to remove in large-scale production.
To create intentional air bubbles in a bar, the chocolate should probably be cooling as soon as it touches the mould.
A&W should of ran the most passive aggressive ads shaming adults for not knowing fractions.
If the US used the metric system this wouldn't have happened.
@jonesymeow9487
They would probably be worse with the metric system... when using inches you have to get fractions to get an exact measurement, you never hear 3/4ths of a cm just go to millimeters
@@jonesymeow9487 I really wished we all used the International_Fixed_Calendar
Are you saying fractions work differently in metric?
They should have just called it by it's Ounce weight and their ad campaign should have been.
"There's is xxOz.. ours is xxOz... Do the Math."
Our household has missed your videos, your handsome face, and your lovely accent. We live in texas and my wife and i watch your vids with our teenage kids. So happy fact fiend is back!
"Brought to you by Big Wangers Inc." Karl's company has a power level over 9000.
I won't forgive Pringles for discontinuing "Rice Fusion Peking Duck with Hoisin Sauce"
There is just no other crisp like them.
We got Fact Fiend back before GTA6
This comment was funny a few years ago. Get some new material.
@@jonesymeow9487 everybody's a critic

I've never heard the term "open wallet surgery" before but I must use it at every opportunity.
A discontinued product I would want back are the Glass Bottle Sobe drinks. They were discontinued due to slowing sale due to changing the recipe so they could switch to plastic bottles. This severally changed the taste of the the drink and switching back was somehow out of the question for them.
I Haven't Seen Sobe In A Long Time, Last Time I Had It Was Like 2012 During Highschool
“Is there a food you’d bring back?”
*tear rolling down my face*
the fabulous bakin boys cupcakes
34:30 If Lucas is after some Rock Band instruments, it's worth noting that one manufacturer has started producing new guitar controllers for use with Rock Band 4. No new drums yet, though
Yeah the drums is mainly what I'm after unfortunately, I am tempted to pick up a new guitar though, as some of mine are getting on a bit now. Thanks though!
- Lucas
@@wikiweekends For what it's worth, earlier this year I wound up picking up an actual midi drum kit, so I could play drums in YARG. A pricey move to be sure, and only moreso if you add something like the Roll Limitless adapter to interface it with Rock Band proper. It's nice to get back to rhythm game drumming again, though
There was a local meat processor that made the most amazing pepperoni and sold it in local grocery stores in the surrounding counties of our state. Unfortunately during the pandemic they were bought out by Tyson foods and were repurposed.
Can no longer buy that brand of pepperoni and my homemade pizzas haven't been the same since.
Can't make my pizza without Pastorelli pizza sauce either, and you can't find it any more in stores because they've replaced so much stuff with just a few big name brands and everything else cheap generic.
Didnt know factfiend was back.
Well now you know a new fact!
It's like Hotel California, he can't leave.
Favorite chocolate bar is Crunch or Krackle or really anything with crisp rice in it. I like the texture.
Americans would think 1/3 is smaller than 1/4
I mean I could see myself being fooled by that if I was half asleep and ordering food early in the morning in a rush.
...and I'm half American. So that checks out.
Not all of us!!! 😂
Average Americans perhaps. I do look around and find myself surrounded by morons over and over, so it feels like everyone .....but we have to remember how dumb the average person is, and half of the people are dumber than that, so every other person is definitely a moron.....
I mean... we literally did. There was a restaurant that did a third pound burger but everyone thought it was smaller so the idea flopped
They did bring back both the Nokia 3310 as a colour dumb phone and the Razr flip phone as a foldable smart phone.
The whole Tab Clear / Crystal Pepsi thing still pisses me off to this day. "It's also clear, so it must also be diet, and diet sucks so it must suck" is some of the stupidest logic, and I'm embarrassed as an American.
1/3 Pounder still makes me more angry lmao Like I suck absolute ass at math, but goddamn I know larger number means smaller fraction lmao
@HollandCrafthart just proof you could make a killing by selling a 1/64th pounder and selling a bun with just a layer of beef grease spread on it
I'm so very glad you brought something back. I'm subscribing right now since you whisper told me to.
If i was to bring an item back it would be the solero shotz thing that karl seemed to be unaware of
Talking of obscure food products you'd want to bring back - "Sweet Heat" Skittles.
I went through a phase a few years ago where I pretty much exclusively ate Skittles whenever I had a craving for something sugary. One day I stumbled across a big bag of "spicy Skittles" in a random pound shop and bought them out of curiosity... Weirdly, they were actually really good, and after looking for them later I discovered they were a one-off limited run made in late 2017 as a marketing gimmick.
They've never been made again, and I genuinely really enjoyed them in a way no other fruity sweets can offer. I can't just sprinkle a bit of chilli powder on my regular skittles, and they're very different to sour sweets. There's nothing else out there like them, and sadly probably never will be again.
TRUE I still have 2 packs I only open for special occasions.
Wish a petition could bring them back...
I LOVED THOSE❤
Solero shots is the thing Lucas was talking about, and minted lamb walkers were amazing !
Karl & Lucas, I think you will also love the adds from Centraal Beheer. They are a Dutch insurance company and have made some of the most hilarious campaigns over the years. Most of them have a slapstick vibe to them and are easily recognisable in an international context.
Love your channel. Hope the others are also doing well.
Welcome back! I've missed fact fiend so much
Shots are totally still available. But the flavor options are super limited, I can only find flaming hot around now.
Ambassador you’re spoiling us!
Seriously missed you guys, good to see you back in any format.
mate this is the first time i struggled with karl's accent. i thought "aero" and "wispa" was "arrow" and "whisper"
This is just how we talk in Yorkshire mate
Cadburys fuse bar for a comeback
Favorite candy bar isn't made anymore. Nestle Alpine Bar. Same size and shape as a Nestle Crunch Bar but white choclate and it had a almond nut mix in it with some mild spices.
Nowdays ...... tie between a caramello, watchamacallit, whosawhatsit, and a zero bar
My favourite chocolate bar's got to be Butlers Dark Chocolate. It's one of the few fancy imported chocolate bars that's relatively affordable where I live.
So happy to get this back in my feed❤
fun thing, we have an aerated chocolate here in norway called stratos, it came out the year after aero in 1936
And of course it is the better version, because Norwegian chocolate is superior.
@@DivineFalconNorway Is Not Really Known For Chocolate
There was a Pepsi advert right in the middle of you talking about Pepsi Man. Which was a heck of a coincidence.
that was not a coincidence.
People say nothing can be removed from the internet. I remember when one of the Colonel Sanders wives died in her will she requested to release the recipe on the net. I remember back in like 2007 or so “everyone” was like “we have the secret recipe!” There were websites with it listed and TH-camrs trying it out, but its all gone now, i can’t find it anywhere.
I absolutely adore Lindor 70+% dark chocolate truffles, no added caramel or smt. So fuckin heavenly I love it
Cyrus sharp polos were the best thing they ever cancelled
It's interesting that Cadbury's chose NE England since Newcastle upon Tyne is one of the locations of a Rowntree's-Nestle factory
People prefer what is familiar over what is better.
I do enjoy the deep dives into things like this
White Toblerone and it ain't even a competition. I bloody hate that no physical store sells it, i can either buy it at the airport, ferry or online.
In Canada we have another bar with bubbles in it. It's called mirage
Don't Think I've Ever Seen Anyone Buy A Mirage Bar?
Or Even Eat One?.
Cause I've Never Had One
Wunderbar would be my favorite, but pretty much any cadbury i wouldnt complain
i remember being in detention because i bluetoothed a happy slapping video to someone...
My favourite chocolates, both of which are discontinued, are the 'Fuse' and the 'Topic'.
My favourite flavour of crisps that went away but was delicious was the donut flavour skips that were really limited when the kids TV show reboot came out. I had them a few times as a kid and loved them.
00:15 the way I knew Karl said "Smug Bastard" instantly.
Bring back Pepsi-Blue.
seriously so good to see some uploads from karl and the gang, thought we would never get some again.
Just put on the advert two pie charts. A third of the first is the burger and the other 2/3 is price as profit. Then the second is a quarter is the burger and the other 3/4 is the price as profit. Simple advertising that shows the quarter pounder is more profit per smaller burger but the third is more burger for cheaper price.
3:56 - Cadbury’s still kicks Galaxy’s arse though.
They kick Hershys too.
Daim are perfection.
I love smashing them bags from IKEA
Dove (Galaxy) milk chocolate has always been my favorite for plain chocolate. And my favorite industry secret is, of course, the Krabby Patty secret formula.
I had never realized fact fiend ever ended
@Fact Fiend you should do one on Hedgehog Flavored Crisps, Back in the 90s.
There is something very therapeutic about the way a Brit says "Chocolate Bar"
"no one knows how to make kfc chicken" people know...its not secret. the internet pull all sorts of people who are capable and willing to just give the recipe out.
i loved the biscuits and gravy lays they were hard as heck to find. also my fave chocolate bar is a gunger backberry flavor 😂
My favourite chocolate bar was Cadbury Timeout, it’s been discontinued and replaced with Twirl breakaway
I always just assumed that aero chocolate is just what happens if you set chocolate in a vacuum chamber
There are three common methods to make air chocolate. In the first method , liquid chocolate is put under a vacuum which causes it to form bubbles, it is the least used due to its complexity and cost.
The second method involves mixing high-pressure gas into the chocolate, causing it to expand and form bubbles. The type of gas used has a significant effect on the size and consistency of the bubbles. For example, nitrogen and argon create tiny, imperceptible bubbles that make the chocolate taste creamier, while CO² and laughing gas create larger, noticeable bubbles that make the chocolate taste more airy. Interestingly, laughing gas intensifies the cocoa taste, but it is not widely used due to its high price.
In the third Method evaporation is used, which has two variations. Both variations involve adding water to the chocolate mass and then evaporating it, but the techniques differ. One method, introduced by Cadbury in 1975, uses a vacuum to remove the water, while the other, developed by Nestle, uses freeze-drying.
Milkyway is my go to on the rare chance I have some change burning a hole in my pocket with Snickers being a close second. :D
Frozen Daim Bars are to die for.
I will champion that galaxy has remained consistently good over my 30 years on earth
I'm in FL and occasionally I find Flake bars and Maltsers here. I've only had good ones a few times but even old and gross, I still love Flake.
A cherry ripe has gotta be my all time favourite
My dad worked in R&D for mars, early 80’s till 2000 ish. I used to go to school with un released chocolate bars, like an orange flavour mars bar. Almost all the mars line they tried orange flavour. I know it got released for the orange twix.
The red bounty needs a comeback
I wish I wasn't allergic to aspartame. It makes my joints swell.
Long time listener, first time caller. Love the show. Great episode! What is your favorite candy?
Topic is a elite tier chocolate bar. Similar flavour to the Kinder Bueno. With the mouth feel of a Mars/ Snickers bar. Its Sublime.
Tell you what I want them to bring back, the Mint Matchmakers Easter Egg. They were phenomenal and they were only a thing for like 3 years.
My favourite chocolate bar has got to be coffee crisp. It has just the perfect amount of crunch, and coffee - what more could you need?
35:00 Snyder's Pretzels have the Pretzel Pieces line, but they usually only have like Jalapeno or Mustard + Onion now.
They used to sell a Sea Salt and Cracked Pepper one, and I fucking DESTROYED that shit. I wistfully wander down snack aisles at the store now, hoping they've returned (last seen in 2014-2015) but to no avail.
Corporate drama between food companies is hilarious because it's the equivalent of games of thrones for businesses
I nearly thought you weren’t going to mention your return at all.
My favourite chocolate bar, and it gives away what country I'm from, is COFFEE CRISP!
FactFiend video? Hell yeah!
Foods I miss:
LaChoy mini egg rolls
Cola Hubba Bubba bubblegum
Elvis Reese cups (had a little banana flavored disc in them)
In South Africa, Lays (Walkers in SA) discontinued the classic salt and vinegar and I will never forgive them
I don't know the name but they sell these bars at the international store in my city that are 80% cacao dark chocolate but have chili flakes mixed in. I know it sounds weird but chili flakes and chocolate are closer to the original recipe and the spiciness really adds something special.
You're the reason I made a full $100 buying earing magic ken's and selling them. Viewer for life lol.
When Karl talks about Shots, it reminds me of an (American?) snack called Grips. Same feeling of just dumping them in your mouth. I loved the cheez it ones, and I swear they tasted better than cheeze-its. I need to go buy some
14:51 - lovely boy, lovely boy
Cadbury's Gorilla Ad, which saved Cadbury in 2007
Curly wurly or cherry ripe were always my go-to bars
I think the arrows have air bubbles in them because they super blended it and then they flash froze it in a case into the shape of the bar
the crisps i miss most are the roast chicken and thyme (i think) walkers oven baked ones. i used to have them every day in school and they stopped selling them
I look a lot like the milkybar kid. It's not my favourite bar, but the nostalgia.
Oh shit, we're back
Old Jamaica. Not sure if they even make it anymore but it was the best chocolate bar ever.
My mum worked for kettle crisps and would get boxes of crisps to take home. One time she brought home sweetcorn flavoured crisps and I was in love, unfortunately it seemed like I was the only person since they were quickly discontinued.
Somehow, fact fiend has returned.
Full Montys so good
The secret of how they get the almond in the Hershey kiss!
You showed two pictures of the same 150g toblerone
any in a corner shop to put in a Browne.
Gertrude hawk has the best chocolate. Just plain dark is our fave
I wish I had a Reggie bar back in the day but I'm a fan of on the more upper scale Lindt chocolate but as far as regular chocolate bar either 100 Grand bar or Whatchamacallit
Didn't Coca-Cola create clear cola for sale in the Soviet Union at some point? Or maybe it was Pepsi?
Edit: It was Coca-Cola, and they didn't sell it, they had it secretly shipped Moscow to satiate Soviet diplomats who had become hooked on the drink while on foreign missions (being led by one in particular).
Cheese and Onion is one of the UK flavours I miss the most.
Favorite discontinued product would have to be the monster energy drink assault flavor they tried to redesign the flavor and changed it completely and then they just discontinued the whole line.
