I'm scared by how easily this could have gone wrong. If any of those archer's aim had been off by so much as half a millimetre, if they'd messed up their shot for some reason, or if there'd been a sudden bit of wind from the wrong direction it could have ended up very different. No wonder Mifune was having nightmares. I'd have been soiling myself!
I got scared for real every time someone fell off a horse. In The Hidden Fortress one of the actors pretty much get kicked in the head by a horse. I can only assume that he was fine.
Sean Bean once got his head stomped on by horse filming a scene for Sharpe. It's the one they kept to so he goes the rest of the scene with a cut and in obvious pain.
Hmmm, on revision of this comment... It was a joke... But things do seem to have got progressively worse since our fascination with digital watches faded. Coincidence? 🤔
There is another American movie where they shot a person with arrows. I forget exactly which one but I think it was something like Robinhood (1938), an Errol Flynn, or some other 1930s/40s era Swashbuckler movie. It wasn't as extreme as Kurosawa. It was a tightly focused shot of the torso only two or three arrows hit.
"Hello there" line but Tadanobu Asano delivers it. Are we displeased with this alternate timeline? All due respect to Ewan McGregor but I think we'd be just fine.
Hey random intersting thing i just learned The phrase "give em the whole 9 yards" Comes from us ww2 bomber gunners because for us bombers the standard ammo belt length was 9 yards or 27 feet
this just confirms to me how lazy the director from the truman show was (the fake director in the movie, not the actual guy). he actually had to convince the actor he was in a show and didn't give a fuck about any detail
I remember seeing a John Wayne movie about him going to japan. And the first that popped in my head, in john Wayne's cowboy accent. "The Duke was the first last samurai." But i think "the last samurai was the first weeaboo." Is a little better
I was actually going to say "This is the greatest fight of my life" would be a lowkey hype one for you to do but you already just did it so...huh. Dammit. I'd probably be more a fan of hearing the more general fight quotes, like his lines after he gets a grab off. "Try again!" and "Might makes right!" - that sorta thing. Eh, guess I'll turn up to the streams for that.
So I’m a fourth degree black bet in Japanese archery. This scene is SO much more risky than people think. Japanese archery is not as accurate as modern western archery. Even 8th degree black belts that have been practicing for decades regularly miss the target completely.
Karl mentioned that Jackbox should have a Cards Against Humanity crossover, but I think fibbage allows you to put in custom modes and one of them may be an official Cards Against Humanity mode.
If Karl is willing to do any line from metal gear revengence for free, why not just redo all voice lines with Karl's voice? Play that every friday instead
Part of the genius of Toshiru Mifune in his classic Kurusawa roles is that he's the OPPOSITE of what a Samurai should be. The Samurai were from the upper classes- they were supposed to be urbane, cultured poshos as well as elite warriors. In those roles Mifune is dirty, coarse and rude. He has the gravelly voice of an alcoholic chain smoker and looks like an unshaven, impoverished hobo. His first role for Kurasawa was as a psychopathic bandit in Rashomon, because those were the vibes he gave off. But Kurasawa saw his natural charisma, and decided to cast him in hero roles as well, where he plays against expectations. In Yojimbo and Sanjuro, both his enemies and allies underestimate him- they don't realise he can fight until he scools them by taking out hordes of goons. Then they think he's just some impoverished, money-grubbing mercenary they can control and predict, when in reality, despite his appearance, he's actually motivated by the Samurai ideals of justice and protecting the weak that everybody else is failing to uphold.
Hi, huge fan, an I really love the videos, but if is to much to ask, could you try to make the volume of everyone at fact fiend talking and the video clips from other shows around the same level, please
Instead of having to record yourself everytime to do a metal gear line what if you just record the whole game a couple times and make a bank of voice recording available with the free use deal? That way you could end up in all kinds of projects as it's easier to just drag and drop a prerecorded line then just asking you to do it and wait for it to be recorded?
Also just put a small charge on it like 5 bucks for access to the voice bank and you should always get your name attached to the work so if nothing else you know your work was used
So you said that the one Armstrong line you wouldn't do is "Make America Great Again" (oof, that was painful to type), but would you be down for a riff on that such as, "You just *can't* make America Great again"? It would help with copyright issues *and* it allows you to keep with in the spirit of the offer wile still being a big wanger as your company seems to strive for. I'm not *yet* a writer, but I'd be down to figure that out.
It's a fun juxtaposition of you all talking shit about yourselves, not being good at selling your merch, up against the fact that your new shirt is sold out
The first weeb thing is real tho,you guys should make a video about Lafcadio Hearn AKA THE WEEB LORD Koizumi Yakumo(1850~1904) he move to JP for the vibe(this is a joke) ,and married daughter of a samurai family, write about JP nonstop and gaing legendary states in JP falklore writing. He freaking name himself 八雲 "the Place of the Issuing of Clouds" after Shinto legend too.
I said don’t recommend video once because it was just feeding me videos of yours I had already watched, and for like 2 years now I didn’t get any of your videos in my recommended
Dayam, Family Guy viewers are really starved for content. In one episode one actress _doesn't_ phone it in and everybody flips their shit. It's good, don't get me wrong... I'm just not sure "girl scream good" is quite the superlative you think it is.
I misread the title and thought they shot 50 arrows INTO an actor
Thankfully only 21 got shot into the actor
haha, how silly. 50 arrows? that would be absurd
I really misread it... Gotta admit, this is much more interesting than firing 50 marrows at a tractor. 😅
I'd rather it be 50 arrows instead of 50 loads.
I thought they shot 50 actors into an arrow
now I'm glad that Kurosawa never actually did the Western he wanted to do.
Lol
Kurosawa- So today your doing a duel…
Actor - These fake bullets in my gun look real
Kurosawa - Fake?
No no no no no no my friend it wouldn't be real enough so today I'm going to teach you how to dodge a bullet.😅
The face Karl makes at 7:39 is my favorite thing cracks me up everytime he does it in any video

"Just making things difficult for the sake of being a dick."
I think that the revised entry for "Humanity" in The Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy.
Hmmm, on revision of this comment... It was a joke... But things do seem to have got progressively worse since our fascination with digital watches faded.
Coincidence? 🤔
Instead of a method actor, he was a method director... xD
My favorite crazy director story is how Hitchcock used real birds and lied to the actor for the shock
That was Tippi Hedren in "The Birds".
"When a director is very strict but does, like, B-movies.."
Me thinking, "it's not A Room, it's The Room" 😂
Kurosawa was master of the wind, rain and scalpels in the draw.
It makes sense Jin looks like Mifune. Ghost of Tsushima was heavily influenced by Kurosawa's films.
In an alternate universe Ken Watanabe is Obi Wan in the star wars prequels.
Trying to picture Tadanobu Asano saying "Hello there"
@@nickv1212 lol, all the Ju-On kids in tanks as Palpy clones. Terror.
Or Hiroyuki Sanada
11:38 Fun fact, the samurai _had_ guns.
Theyr are japinese versions of weebs that are obsesses with the old west
Not the best but yeah
But it depends on the period, a lot of Kurosawa's period pieces are set in eras prior to the use of firearms in Japan.
I was happy and excited for some Kurosawa and now I'm sad because of the Phil Hartman clip. RIP to a true legend.
He was the king of smarm. Nobody could drip sleaze as smoothly as that man, and we are all the poorer for having lost him.
If Toshiro Mifune had played Obi Wan, Vader would have gotten wrecked in that duel. No other outcome would have been believable.

14:27 That's me when I wake up late and remember I have to go to the dentist in an hour and then work another hour after that.

I love getting through the intro and having to be reminded on what I actually clicked on
To be fair, James Cagney was shot at by a machine gun and had to dodge out of the way
classic Karls says drinking from the empty glass will annoy people. also, Karl keeps drinking from the empty glass.
The algorithm, it has blessed me with your content again
From the thumbnail, I guess this is Akira Kurosawa
20:20 It's like the Elk call at the start of the game Canada Hunt. It's the escalation.
Hey random intersting thing i just learned
The phrase "give em the whole 9 yards"
Comes from us ww2 bomber gunners because for us bombers the standard ammo belt length was 9 yards or 27 feet
That's uh. . . Not true, according to a brief googling, it's older than both world wars
carrot in the box reference killed me
We watched Throne of Blood in my english class, after reading Macbeth. Its insane.
I miss when Fact Fiend would actually use the greenscreen. Much like with the example of the empty cup, it's quite annoying.
That is the greatest shirt ever made.
Carrot in a box was absolutely fantastic. Sean suckered poor Jon in with ease, and it was a privilege to see it.
this just confirms to me how lazy the director from the truman show was (the fake director in the movie, not the actual guy). he actually had to convince the actor he was in a show and didn't give a fuck about any detail
I watches this movie in college and it's an actually good movie.
I remember seeing a John Wayne movie about him going to japan. And the first that popped in my head, in john Wayne's cowboy accent. "The Duke was the first last samurai." But i think "the last samurai was the first weeaboo." Is a little better
Don't worry, Karl, they'll add the beer in post.
Toshiro Mifune > John Wayne
"... they would be annoyed ...'Keep doing it then!' ... yep!"
=)
its little things like this is why i love you guys
This sounds like the perfect director for Tom Cruise knowing how much andbmany time Tom wanted to make the scene more real
I have this shirt! Love your fashion choices as always Karl!
Beat movie not just from kirasawa but of all time IMHO is always going to be Yojimbo
I pray someone asks karl to do the whole Armstrong speech
Throne of Blood is an awesome movie
I was actually going to say "This is the greatest fight of my life" would be a lowkey hype one for you to do but you already just did it so...huh. Dammit.

So he could of just died
That's terrifying.
Karl mentioned that Jackbox should have a Cards Against Humanity crossover, but I think fibbage allows you to put in custom modes and one of them may be an official Cards Against Humanity mode.
Not even a minute in and Brad's taking the piss. XD
Sounds like Kurosawa had Stanley Kubrick-level enthusiasm (or rather vice versa)
First weaboo would be the TV series Shogun
Thank you! 💙
Stop sipping that God damn glass. !!
Engagement and more Engaging Engagement!
Ikiru is one of the greatest movies ever made.
Carrot in the box is a world class sport.

I lke your shirt. its neat
Karl, that's a nice shirt, where did you get it?
a line from MGS revengence? i would have him say "you're hot for days"

Can I raise you a SpongeBob line, I'll pay you one left shoe
I have shorts that match Karl’s shirt.
Someone's gonna take those sound clips and mix them into awful, awful shit.
"I~TOUCH-kids, JACK!"
Karl, is your offer of reading MGRR lines limited to the English ones?
So you said that the one Armstrong line you wouldn't do is "Make America Great Again" (oof, that was painful to type), but would you be down for a riff on that such as, "You just *can't* make America Great again"? never watched MADtv eh? I'm always expecting her to get cancelled for miss Kitty, I just didnt get it for years till someone explained it lol
Eyyy Hawaiian shirt friday
What's the best scream scene in your opinion
does anyone know where to get the shirt karl was wearing in this video?
What's the difference between 50 and like 50.
What is that shirt, i love it, please help
It's a fun juxtaposition of you all talking shit about yourselves, not being good at selling your merch, up against the fact that your new shirt is sold out
I think the scream from Bocchi the Rock is better.
Based MGRR fan
The first weeb thing is real tho,you guys should make a video about Lafcadio Hearn

That scream is good but not even close to the Bocchi the Rock scream

Do y’all know what paladins is?
you will lend your voice only if its to quote metal gear rising revengence? Ok.... do the entire script of the game

Shite.
Japanese work ethic.
Throne of blood isnt a bad film, it’s just hard to follow. Seven Samurai was better, but it’s no Rashomon.
