Haven’t dropped a bad game in over 20 years (minus the GTA trilogy remasters, that was off handed to another company to make. let’s not talk about that.) Its their business practices that are questionable, which is in large part due to the influence of their parent company TakeTwo interactive.
@@DevilNEDVED Yes but I mainly choose 60fps every time. Every game I played since i built my first pc is 60fps and up and then when I got the PS5 since launch its always 60fps. Did that for a solid 2 years and dipped my toe back in 30fps just to see how i tolerated before and could stand it.
2:47 In case you didn't know (because I surely didn't) you're supposed to use the left trackpad as a jog wheel for scrolling, basically drawing circles clockwise or anti-clockwise. That way you can scroll without lifting your finger.

Thank you for finally making this video! The struggle was real using the last video trying to figure out how to do this on steam deck with zero knowledge of using windows programs on linux.
So glad i found this. So often, these steam deck tutorial videos call the process super easy, only to skip over the hardest parts you actually need help with. Leaving you to your own devices to mess everything up. Most tutorials are so vapid and unhelpful, hiding behind fancy editing, while the actual meat of the video is condescending ghat gpt level instructions. Glad you made the video with an actual person in mind. Rarely comment praise like this, but playing an old favourite, the way i remember it, without wanting to rip my hair out in the process is a true blessing.

Great video. This might go unnoticed but something I had to change was the right trigger behaviour. The default is a hair trigger which makes driving feel like you are either accelerating or not. I switched the right analog behaviour to “Simple Threshold “ and reduced the threshold point. I also reduced the trigger range start which overall feels much better to drive with.

I played the whole game on steam deck with no issues lol. Even the very end with the button tapping was fine. I also didn’t have an issue when i beat it on series x with 60fps
Amazing video, years ago when I wanted to mod the game I was always told that I needed to downgrade, that caused a ton of issues in the game and I ended up never using the fix mods. This is the first time I am modding the game and now I am ready to have a blast with it again, this is my favorite GTA and playing it on ultra with minor performance issues will be great.
Dude, I literally spent like 8 hours trying to mod this game months ago using some random ahh tutorials on youtube but linux is a bitch so I ended up making my performance worse. I cannot begin to say how thankful I am for a full steam deck tutorial on a niche game like this you're doing gods work
Thanks to your video I got this game setup on my arch Linux install and I wish I played my first play through on Linux now. Runs so much better, solid 60fps without drops whatsoever unlike windows and without using DXVK 🙂
@ apologies, I assumed the dxvk mod changes the native renderer to vulkan from directx potentially aiding in better Linux performance? I’m still quite new to Linux however. In my mind it’s less to translate using it if that’s how it works?
@@G59Loser Can't use DirectX on Linux in the first place, but atleast with GTA IV DXVK on both Windows and Linux improves the performance because the translation is leaner than the Direct3D 9 or 10 being used in IV

Some small notes on Steam Deck: When in Desktop mode, scrolling is done in circular motion, like on iPods. In regular Gaming mode, you tap the trackpad edges instead. When using on-screen keyboard, you can move it up and down by pressing START/Menu button on Deck.

I don't even have a Steam Deck, but I was curious of how the process is. Then at 08:30 you show how to put 2 apps to take exactly 50% of the screen each. As a guy trying Linux Mint just for fun, I thank you, this is a game changer for me, trying to do that in Windows is hell.
here is a little trick: enable remote play on your steam decks steam client while in desktop mode and connect to it from your pc with steam link. easiest way to do that kind of stuff when you dont have a usb c dock or a bluetooth keyboard and mouse.
2:48 FInally someone covering the controls of the steam deck in Desktop mode. I'd like to add that the left touchpad is more like an iPod click wheel situation, you draw circles to scroll, very intuitive once you've got used to it.
I think I'm buying a Steam Deck this month. I have GTA IV sitting in my library since ages despite never really owning the PC hardware for it, but I bought it because it was on a ridiculous sale and I remember this game fondly when I played it all the way back on the PS3. truly the best GTA story ever made was well in my opinion, Nico was just such a down-to-earth and relatable character and the overall setting of Liberty City just felt more 'real' compared to other titles. Can't wait to play it and to even enhance it with the privilege of modding on a (quasi) PC like the Steam Deck! :D
For those with Steam Deck OLED, the settings are good enough for 45fps/90hz. Additional settings I’d change: disable ingame vsync & let steam overlay take care of it. Play around with the saturation & contrast dials
GTAIV runs well on the Steam Deck coz valve is the main actor behind the development of DXVK - and it will be tuned up on their systems. We still need a RE:IV.
@@WkC-p6e They need DXVK for smooth operation of Proton - so they are working on it, open-source projects are maintained by a large group of people, however the ones spending the most time would obviously be the ones getting paid to do so.
Maybe next can we get a tutorial on how to the install liberty legacy trainer on the deck? I learned that it's possible to get to work with fusion overloader but I trust your tutorials the most when modding GTA IV
Funny how when you view everything in GTA IV from a distance, you can see the engine is based on the GTA 3 engine. It's just all the meshes that makes the difference in GTA IV.... And the lighting.
Do you know if it’s possible to run OpenIV on Steam Deck? One of my favourite things to do on PC is install lore-friendly car models but I’m unable to run OpenIV on the Deck to do so.
Last time i tried modding GTA IV, i had to keep creating new save games as the bowling, mini games and computers all stopped working. Only way to fix it was to restart on a new save. Very heart breaking to learn it the hard way
Make sure you've updated/signed into the Rockstar Launcher BEFORE adding the launch options. I installed all the mods and stuff without launching the game in a while, oops!
I beat you to this long ago, by following your last tutorial for pc, then jut moving the files into my steamdeck and it worked. Anyway I have a question. If I want to install some of the gameplay mods made for gta 4 is it possible? Do they have to be compatible with fusionfix and the other stuff? You should make a tutorial on which mods work with fusion fix and the best ones to transform gta 4.
Can't seem to get this to work using Heroic Launcher. Any chance, maybe it's the dll command? I input it, in the structure I'd expect winedlloverrides dinput8=n, b Tried "dinput=n,b" %command% Yet, now it just crashes
For some reason with the command active it won't let me choose which edition to play and then crashed when in the black loading screen, I've tried so much and changing the dinput8 file etc. Yet it still crashes no matter what I do as long as it loads the mods. ..
@@pooler57 I'm talking about the logic of the system, how they managed to put realistic shadows in the old renderwere engine. I remember how strange the “ENBs” were in terms of shadows and lighting, and then these renderhooks came along as a new approach... I don't know, I think it would make a good video talking about GTA SA graphics mods....

You can also add it as a place in Dolphin. It'll be in the sidebar for the easiest access. It's what I did for modding Yakuza games.

DXVK is still used!! It's how the games graphics are being translated to run on the device!

You need FusionFix, it fixes tons of graphical bugs and adds more options to the game menu.

Is it possible to add cosmetics or big mods like zolika patch?
Liberty Legacy has cosmetic options and works on CE, Zolikas stuff will never work on CE or things like Steam Deck as they are against it.

Can't seem to get this to work using Heroic Launcher. Any chance, maybe it's the dll command? I input it, in the structure I'd expect

Yet, now it just crashes
For some reason with the command active it won't let me choose which edition to play and then crashed when in the black loading screen, I've tried so much and changing the dinput8 file etc. Yet it still crashes no matter what I do as long as it loads the mods. ..

@@pooler57 I'm talking about the logic of the system, how they managed to put realistic shadows in the old renderwere engine. I remember how strange the “ENBs” were in terms of shadows and lighting, and then these renderhooks came along as a new approach... I don't know, I think it would make a good video talking about GTA SA graphics mods....

I'm not good at computer stuff but the new various fixes update is .rar instead of .zip. Will it still work?
