I'll always feel bad for Lisa. Poor girl didn't deserve what happened to her. It's utterly amazing how she was able to hold onto her humanity for so long as well.
Perfect. I remember being a kid and watching this over and over. There's some quality of it that just inspires a deep sense of mystery and nostalgia (even when I first saw it). The marriage of the song and visuals is sublime. The '...fear of blood tends to create a fear of the flesh' goes perfectly with the trickling sound of the instrument.
this game holds a very special place in my heart because it was the first video game I have ever beaten. me a teenager at 15 years old, I feel there should be more video games like silent hill 1 not all of that call of duty bullshit :p
For me the best game ever If I had to choose one...Still remember when I was 17 years old and this game came out.I love the music, the characters, the atmosphere, the monsters, the scenario, the multiple endings.A diamond.
it’s been 20 years since this masterpiece was released!!!! i remember being 5 and watching my dad play, and both of us being terrified because he played from morning to night and we were too scared to get up to turn on the lights lmao. it really shaped how i look at games (& ppl for that matter) and 20 years later i’m still obsessed with this franchise (apart from the laters ones and the terrible movies lmao) long live silent hill!!!
I am 20 years old and fairly new to the franchise, I got silent hill one just a couple weeks ago on my PlayStation 3 and I have to say it is the scariest horror game I’ve ever played by far. Such a masterpiece of a game and does a way better job of horror than most games nowadays. (PS I really really really really despise the school... That’s where I got scared the shit out of the most)
Also the Intro splits into the prequel cutscenes around 1:06, we see Cybil depart from Brahms, then we see Lisa and Kauffman arguing about her position as a Nurse, only for her to start laughing under the influences of the supplied PTV, then we cut to the car crashing. I still don’t understand the Dahlia scene.
Lol, you're right. I loaded our original PS1 Black Label Silent Hill game to double-check, but the spelling was correct. I don't know which version is displayed, but that was a good catch.
I think the thing that makes Silent Hill work is a combination of clever dialogue and cut sequences with pregnant pauses, combined with eerie music. Plus CGI which, out of the corner of your eye, is real, but not quite real when you concentrate. I remember first playing this and it shocked me. All that hospital business with the mirror image of it being horrific. Freakish stuff, but ranks alongside Tombraider as one of my favourite games. A very intelligent computer game.
This one creeped the hell out of me in high school. PSX definitely had the best games and everything was so new back them. Those of us that could enjoy that era are lucky.
Corona virus pandemic, 2020. I am listening to this in my room, working on "silly" stuff like paperwork for my business, something I neglected for a long time, but now I am fulfilling my time with paperwork, with very little else to do. Weird times. I think I am not sick. There was an earthquake in Zagreb, the first major one after 140 years. And now the snow is falling and people are joking that this is not snow we see but ashes that are falling out of hell. That allegory reminded me of Sillent Hill and that's why I started listening to famous Silent Hill theme, and the sound is truly amazing. inb4 copyright (copyright is destroying the internet)
Now That's what a call ''A True Survival Horror'' game! Keiichiro Toyama seems to be more creative and innovative than Shinji Mikami when making horror games...I don't know why so many blind deluded idiots out there calls Mikami the father of survival horror? Really? He's the guy who ruined everything HORROR. He reminds me of Dahlia from sh1 who was very cruel and abusive towards her daughter Alessa(Survival Horror). Alessa plays the role of ''Survival Horror'' here and he just like Dahlia ruined and changed Alessa's life and her destiny for the worse (i.e. Changed HORROR to ACTION) Why is that? What horror has done to him to make him mad? I think it's more suitable for him to be called ''The Father of Third Person Action Shooting games'' You don't believe me? Just look around you guys, almost every third person shooting action game out there since the released of RE4 in 2005 imitate its over shoulder third person shooting view. Games like gow and uncharted are some notable examples. Even the last of us the game which considered to be the best game ever made by many ppl out there has the same camera and gameplay as RE4. It's just a never ending bullshit to me!!! -___- And now that is the time I think when Keiichiro Toyama (Harry Mason) strikes and saves survival horror genre( Alessa Gillespie) from the horrible destiny it suffered. He as Harry Mason can give a better life and future to Survival Horror genre back to its glory days!!! Keiichiro Toyama is INDEED The True Father of Survival Horror!
The music they used for this intro is so creepy... Even now, years later, the song alone just gives me shivers! I was happy they used a portion of it in the SH movie/trailer.
this is just the best that I ever played... make smile, make afraid... and even make me cry... oh lisa... I miss this kind of video games... the videogames are not like this one anymore...
I love games such as silent hill, I find myself buying old ps1 games at ebay rather than new games today. Everything was made with love before than most junk today.
Alessa at 1:06 looks almost healthier now, she doesn’t seem to be in agonising pain and she also appears to be recovering from her burns. Where even is she at this point of the game? We never see the actual Alessa, only her projections throughout the game. This has always bugged me throughout the games as the actual adult Alessa who split herself into Cheryl is never ever seen at all.
That's not true at all she got that incident at the age of 7 and in the game she's 14 yo. Also we always see her while she spreads the seal of metatron in the town but she's captured by Dahlia thanks to Harry and the Flauros She become one as Cheryl reaches her
OMG !! I see this video right now and it feels creepy !!! It makes me remember old times and when I used to play it with my brother.I have to admit that my favorite part of the game is this intro !!And the music !! OMG !!! This is a classic !! :D
god i loved this game.. scared the shit out of me a few times but it was great i loved the music as well and im planning on buying this again wherever i can find it :)
@meghterb Some games are consistently really good and shine through. I'm glad I was able to experience a whole series of them in my generation, it's very rare to find something that stays so true to it's roots and is still of such quality.
My favorite silent hill games are silent hill 1, silent hill 4, silent hill origins, silent hill homecoming. silent hill seems a little italian but mostly inspired to american culture.
What do you mean it tells you nothing? Firstly, it introduces the characters you'll meet in the game, albeit short previews, and more importantly it shows Harry and Cheryl driving to Silent Hill and what happens on the way, something that is not shown at all in the actual game. We see Cybil on her motorcycle and then after it's crashed, then following with Harry's own crash because of Alessa. Then when you see Alessa in the game, you remember -- she's the one who caused the crash.
Silent Hill is more than just a game.
Bruna Pacheco agreed!
agreed 2
totally agreed
It's a particular state of mind..
It's a rare one
Without Yamaoka's music, Silent Hill wouldn't be the same...
Red Hood yeah. He’s creating masterpieces...I love his creations so much 💖😫
Silent Hill loses its soul without Yamaoka's music
R.I.P Yamaoka :(
@@siavashsohrabi4221 rip? he is still alive
@@siavashsohrabi4221 he’s still alive and working on that new slitterhead or some shit
Man, the classic Devil May Cry(s), Resident Evil(s), and Silent Hill(s) are the best.
Best intro theme out of them all
👍
I'll always feel bad for Lisa. Poor girl didn't deserve what happened to her. It's utterly amazing how she was able to hold onto her humanity for so long as well.

2020 😭 this game is 21 years old and still beautiful.
Perfect. I remember being a kid and watching this over and over. There's some quality of it that just inspires a deep sense of mystery and nostalgia (even when I first saw it). japan work.
The song simply tells the story in mysterious & creepy way. Greetings for all people who played Silent hill.
THIS IS A GOOD FUKING INTRO OF THE LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this game holds a very special place in my heart because it was the first video game I have ever beaten. me a teenager at 15 years old, I feel there should be more video games like silent hill 1 not all of that call of duty bullshit :p

Very emotional song
The good old '99.. Hard to believe it's been so long since SH1 came out. Still loving this game and theme.

una obra de arte
El mejor de todos los silent hill

Such a powerful intro!
I was about 7 when that game came out , still scare the S*** out of me.. Just watching this intro make me feel back in the old good time. Classic
I used to back from university at night. While I'm driving I turn on this music 😁

Love the opening quote, really sets the mood for the game.
15 years and still a legend
God I loved this game, second favorite game in the series after SH2.
what a game it was.amazing.i wish i could play this game now.i still have ps1 but i don't have sh1..
The origin of horror itself. Silent Hill is such a legendary franchise in both gaming history and in horror history.
I remember I used to play this game all day long with my friend.. Thanks for this beautiful song!
It was the first PS1 game I ever beat, and one of my overall firsts, too. Good memories.
1:35 is the best part. In the OST you can hear someone (probably Alessa) crying. It’s so emotional
Just imagine this would have gotten a remastered version. introducing younger generation one of, if not the greatest horror game of all time.
Is impressive when you figure out that all the FMV of this game was made by one person...
El mejor juego de la vida
RIP to the Silent Hill game series.... You will be missed. *lowers head*
I will always remember that game , i was about 8 when i first played it , that music in the intro always maked me freak out
Used to start the game up just to listen to this.
Damn I need to play these games

I love this intro.........
The intro slightly changed when I got the ending where Cybil and Harry escaped. Instead of his wife picking Cheryl up, it's Cybil
Yup.
