    The scene when Dalinar saved Bridge 4 on the Shattered Plains, and then gave Kaladin a salute. I got goosebumps again just remembering it.

    I listened to the way of kings on audiobook and holy crap! The last few hours are full of epic moments, from bridge 4 saving Dal, Kal speaking the second ideal, and Dalinar trading a priceless sword for a group of slaves to retain his honor. Can’t think of a book having a better ending than this

      no doubt! it's as solid a book as there is. there are a handful of awesome moments in every storylight book so far, but my favorite is the last line of a chapter in book 2. and there's a line in book 4 that got me all teary-eyed lol (not gonna lie though, i reread WoK twice when making this video. and the first time i got to Syl staring east at Dalinar, it got dusty over here lol)

    • @bridge4
      @bridge4  2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      hey, i had meant to finish that before season 1 even aired lol. things just take so long to put together because i do so many rereads per video. case in point, i reread "The Way of Kings" 2.5 times while making this video. and its a pretty big book lol
      so here's my "short-term" goal of 2022. im going to continue covering shows that i enjoy here or there. like i'll do an ozark recap/ending explained when that show drops at the end of the month. same for stranger things, umbrella academy, yadda yadda. and ill experiment with episode breakdowns for shows i like, but if they dont get views, i wont burn an entire day on them (such as with Toyko Vice. im still watching it, but my episodes 1-3 vid got 2k views. its not worth burning a day for that)
      in terms of your comment and book coverage, which is my true passion, im putting my history and lore videos for "The Wheel of Time" on hold. and same with the detailed recaps. first, im going to do full book recaps for "The Wheel of Time" like this video. so bigger, but more high-level videos first
      the only decision point im still toying with is which order. when i first began reading "The Way of Kings" for this video, i envisioned alternating one week Stormlight, one week The Wheel of Time. but then i realized that Book 7 of Mistborn comes out in the fall. maybe august. something like that. so i was thinking "do i alternate between mistborn and wheel of time before finishing stormlight?"
      however, after rereading Stormlight book 1, i was pulled right back in. because as much as i love First Law, Mistborn, Wticher, and Wheel, Stormlight is the f*ckin best lol. so over the last two weeks, ive decided that i've just been toying with the order. im still unsure if im going to alaternate 1 cosmere and 1 wheel book each week. or maybe a three week rotation of Stormlight, Mistborn, Wheel
      sorry, im rambling. my point was that the next Wheel video will be a high-level "The Great Hunt" video. whether i do that over this next week, or if i do mistborn book 1, or words of radiance, im not sure. i'm leaning words of radiance though lol. so im tempted to do all of stormlight. then maybe Wheel 2 and 3. then mistborn era 1. then Wheel 4-6. then mistborn era 2, then wheel 7-10, then warbreaker, elantis, and other Cosmere novellas/short stories, then Wheel 11-14
      something like that probably
      then once i finish the fourteen "The Wheel of Time" book summaries, i can work on either history and lore, theory, or detailed breakdowns
      and same for Cosmere stuff because as im working on the full book recaps, im documenting everything i need for topical videos such as timeline stuff, history and lore, best fighters, etc
      apologies for such a long message!!

    Awesome recap! I've read a lot of fantasy since reading Stormlight the first time and hearing all these details again the series really stands out as one of the best.
    Among a ton of other stuff I think Sanderson did an excellent job with motivations behind character's actions. The kind of complexity that makes re-reads so worth it. (If anyone is looking to recap then I can stand by the audiobooks they're fantastic. Storm father/Dalinar deliveries in the audiobooks are next level)

      @bridge4  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      hey Keiran!
      i dont want to get too into spoilers since the details for that are in book 3 iirc, but Dalinar's backstory is intense. and its interesting to see how Stormlight fans have reacted to Dalinar as a result of his backstory versus how they react to other characters in the current timeline who are also broken
      side note, i had said "shshshsh", but the noise cancellation for low decibel sounds removed the last three "sh"s. i then edited a bunch of the audio before getting to that spot and realizing it. so i just copied the one remaining "sh" and pasted three more times, which is why it came across as a more agressive "shshshsh" than my initial recording, which decrescendod lol

      no no no Keiran! dont watch that. the prologue to every Stormlight book takes place during the same scene from 6 years prior to the current story. but you dont want to learn stuff from the book 5 prologue until you've read books 1-4
      "bridge4" comes from this series ... bridge four. it's a slave crew that carries a bridge for an army =))
      The Stormlight Archive is the best ongoing fantasy series imo (and very well may go down as the best fantasy series when it's completed). granted, i'm biased since i love the way Brandon Sanderson writes. But there are many who would agree that Brandon and Stormlight are the best =))

    I think the only issue I have with this video is that it does contain spoilers -- so far nothing major, but giving away the name of Dalinar's wife for those of us who haven't yet discovered it does kind of take something away. In any case, I'll continue listening, but it doesn't bode well if there are other spoilers abounds.

    I'm totally new to this kind of fantasy (most fantasy, really) and so I just heard a lot of people and fighting with things and people for other things in places and other places for reasons. And magic.
    I'm sure it's great, by the sounds of the comments, but i have never been so confused by a summary....!?!!?! ...

      i mean that's because it's just a half hour summary of a 1000 page book that's about 40+ hours in audio form 😭 it sounds like you haven't read it, in which case it's much less confusing and such a great read

    I thought this was a different type of video. ive not read any of the cosmere books and Im just about to start with the way of kings. All I'm hearing currently is "This organization fucks up something after 2 million years and causes the great event that means something to someone because this guy with purple eyes went to conquer this kingdom in this map etc etc etc"
