Great video. Looking at swapping my BM for one of these and you definitely squashed the main concerns I had

Your comment on Tiptronic being much easier for day to day driving and only missing the manual sometimes when blowing up twisty roads is spot on but in reality I don’t miss heel and toe driving.

It's heel and toe driving that I would miss the most driving an auto.😃😃

Very fair review. I have an 05 manual S in the same colour, love the looks and the noise over 4500 rpm! 👍😀

It really is a very impressive car especially considering our cars are now 14 years old!

I’m thinking of buying one when I can afford a second car. Any issues or advice from u Porsche owners? Thanks

Buy the best you can afford, whilst leaving some budget to put any emerging issues right. Buy on condition and service history rather than spec or mileage. I prefer’d the power of the S models but don’t discount base models if power isn’t important! Servicing is expensive, but my cars been almost faultless this year. And don’t discount the tiptronic gearbox. Purest prefer manual but i so prefer tip, quick to change gear and so much easier to live with in traffic. Finally, take your time. If you’re ever in the area I’m always happy for you to stop off and take a closer look, discuss further. Good luck

Hi Richard, thank u very much for the advice!!
I can’t wait until I buy one (one day) haha. Currently drive a bmw 328i m sport F30. But always been a huge Boxster fan!! I love the grey colour too.
I’ve seen on auto trader they can range from around 6-9k for an 05-06 plate S. I will definitely come by in near future when I’m close to buying. Cheers

I found a significant variance in condition from cars that on paper (advert) appeared close. Some owners reported their cars as good/excellent and were average at best. I quite often got the “well it’s 15 years old!” .... so be prepared to view plenty so that you gauge what is good and what is average. I made trips to London and the south coast for cars that I discounted within minutes because owners hadn’t been real with there views. You just have to be patient .....

I sold my 997 looking for cheaper motoring but ended up with a 2006 Boxster 2.7L. Both cars have Tiptronic. It takes time but with familiarity a Tiptronic can be fun. Having had Tips without and now with the Sport Chrono Sport option i have to say Chrono is a must with Tiptronic as it changes all sorts of parameters making it much more responsive. I think the Boxster is amazing and much better than I thought it would be when changing from a 997. Flat 6 sounds phenomenal and my Tiptronic is smooth with no clunkiness that you describe.

    Good honest review.
I have had one for a year now and am in love with it----and I do love the Back end!
But I'm really wondering why you actually bought one?

      Thanks for the comment.
Why did I buy one? LoL you don’t ever know what a car is like until you own it. And I do think it’s a great car and very difficult to find fault with but some cars you bond with and others you don’t. A few of my cars I can’t see me ever selling, but the Boxster isn’t one of those. And my OH would kill me if I did as she REALLY likes it 👍🏻

Hi if you don’t like the sounds fit a Remus exhaust which makes the car sound fantastic, that’s what I did to my 987 Boxster S. By the way Insurance is cheep for a Porsche you have to shop around. The car is also very light on tyres and brakes. Handling is fantastic as you say and you can take liberties. The car also looks great from any angle and the best two seater sports car in its class, way better then a MX5 or Audi TT or S2000 which you have to rev to death to get the best from it and anyway you can’t compete with the name like Porsche.

Hi George, I’ll certainly consider a Remus exhaust 👍🏻 I agree with most things you’ve said (still not sure about the look from behind!) but do have to agree that the driving experience is 10/10! It’s my first Porsche but won’t be my last 👌 I will say that the mk1 MX5 is brilliant but in a different league to the 987. Biggest disappointment has been the way the TT drives. Love the looks, love the engine but the driving experience is poor!

It was one of my first videos. A bit cringy now I admit. Hopefully I’ve improved in the last 5 years!
