    Bought my 08 987 last year, it’s a 2.7 so it doesn’t suffer with ims or bore scoring issues. Paid £7500 for it with a 100k miles on it and 5k miles later it’s running great so far🤞. Insurance was surprisingly cheap as well considering I was 18 when I bought it. £784 for the year. Mental🤯

      I think the ims problem can still effect 2008 cars!
      The problem was only resolved with the 2009 Gen 2 which came with a new engine the 9A1, now directly driven off crankshaft MA1 (9A1) engine, and the 2.7 became the 2.9. Hope that helps.

I bought mine down south with ever option thrown at it bar ceramic discs and sports suspension. 10k I paid, and 2k of work. Not bad for a car that cost 54k out the factory.

    Good video, without wishing to sound a nerd I have had several Porsche’s and currently have a 996. I have always been told not to let them warm up at idle, just start it and drive keeping it around 2000 rpm until the oil is at temperature. This is to allow the oil to circulate and is to help prevent bore score.

    Most people saying parts are expensive? No they’re not, find a wreckers or buy online. Expensive to service? Not at all, change the oil and filter yourself, but an OBDII and diagnose issues on your own. People create mental barriers and have no idea what they’re talking about. I own a 986 and 987 and they’re no different than any other car with running costs

    I feel the earlier model that this replaced, the interior has dated so badly compared to these! i love 2004 onwards Porsche interiors, they feel so much more modern and still fit in well. the rounded/bubble dash of the earlier stiff like the 911 and boxter is such an off put for me!

    • @ldgvh7210
      @ldgvh7210 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I feel the exact opposite. I love the classic look of the original 986 interior and the steering wheel. The 987 interior looks incredibly cheap and flimsy to me, looks very much reminiscent of early 2000's Ford interiors. Like the earliest attempts at "modernising" interiors, just loses all the original charm and character while also being older and more uglier than the newer, actually modern interiors of the latest versions.
