    _____Corrections_____
3:18: These are actually AN-M8 smoke grenades, not M18 smoke grenades.
7:09: The picture on the right is not a PPSh-41 but of another variant.
6:42: The term ''magazine clip'' is not accurate as magazines and clips are not the same thing.
10:15: The Fw 200 was actually used as a transport aircraft, notably flying supplies into Stalingrad. However we still feel that the more common HE 111 would be a better overall choice as we only see the Fw 200 in game.
23:07: Just like the Thompson, the Bren also has a bolt hold open feature meaning that only the magazines have to be swapped for firing to continue and no charging of the weapon is necessary.
    _____Extra Inaccuracies_____
1:36: The Mosin Nagant in game appears to be modeled on the M38 Carbine version which were primarily given to gun-crews and non front-line combatants, it should be the standard issue M91/30 Mosin Nagant instead.
1:50: Soldiers in WW2 were trained to hold pistols with one hand. The teacup pose being used here in the game was not recommended.
4:06: All of the half-tracks in the game also have yellow triangles on their roofs which were only put on convoy-leading vehicles meaning the vast majority of them should not have this marking.
4:38: The half track we put the TNT onto is a Wurfrahmen 40 which the Red Army soldiers misidentify as a Panzerwerfer 42 during the sequence.
4:56: ''Solechnaya Street'' is a typo, it should be ''Solnechnaya Street'' which means ''Sunny Street'' and was renamed to ''13th Guards Rifle Division Street'' after the war.
23:36: Additionally, the Panzer II had a 20mm kwk or kwk 38 (depending on the model) cannon that had 10-round magazines which in-game fires like a normal tank cannon of a bigger caliber.
31:58: Throughout the entire US campaign, Sgt Randell wears his assault vest even though most soldiers got rid of it ASAP and there is no evidence of anyone wearing them after June 1944.

What I like about Cod 1-3 and WAW is the fact that despite the historical inaccuracies (mostly due to the studio's limited budget, technology graphics and resources at the time to develop said games), it still respected the time period it was portraying, and it remained authentic (especially WAW).

i have a theory for the inaccuracies that start in 5:20, maybe 20 years after the war ended Vasili is looking though his old war stuff? and everytime a mission starts he's just remisnicing his old memories, he never dies in game anyways.

I’ve thought that as well. Either Vasili, Davis, and Taylor are looking back years later. Or there families are looking through their stuff and imagining what they did, which conveniently explains the inaccuracies. Or it could be a museum or war memorabilia collector has the journals.

@@nikik5567 Yeah those are my issues with this review to. To many of his "inaccuracies" are mostly game mechanics. Like the reloading of the sten were we reuse the same mag. Thats do to him having the camera further back then he should it was never supposed to go back that far heck push it back further you would see only hands. He also needs to remember the reuse of assets is also a thing in games like the trucks. Also at least they changed the uniforms for the British troops in normandy and they went from using Thompsons to Stens. Also again this game was made in 2005 there were limits in what they could do such as the number of characters on screen.

As a change of pace: perhaps you should look at every historical inaccuracy in Battlefield 1. Especially since that game shares a lot of similarities with COD WAW in that while it does contain a fair amount of historical inaccuracies, it makes up for it by giving a very faithful and authentic portrayal of WW1.

As a WW1 enthusiast and BF1 fanboy i think there is soooo many silly things
I started laughing when at the end of 1st story we basically have the largest tank battle WW1 haven't ever seen lmao
like literally We wight like 20+ tanks if i remember correctly, alone, without any support
It's worth mentioning that the devs said themselves that the game isn't authentic, it's "what if... WW1 continued?"
but it also as fun with WW1 having more mobile warfare with faster weapons and fast tanks and cars moving quickly on a open fields... of western europe
all the experimental guns and silly elite classes are just there for variety
I think that BF1 is a pure: somewhat plausible, not very realistic, not authentic but somehow still respectful and with a good taste
gun skins are meh... but it's not CoD WW2 multiplayer level of bright pink glitter guns and soldiers wearing grim reaper masks and santa csaul or st patrick clothes....
BF1 as well as BFV are having fun with the medium, it's still not disrespectful if you say "hey, there were minorities in war we ignore"
even if they mess up the facts and details.
BF1 for me is GOAT for the shear amount of nations invoved
in most of WW2 games we see US and Germans, often Soviets and Brits, very rarely italians and japanese, never anyone else...
then WW1 Battlefield comes and blasts us with British, American, German, Italian, Ottoman and AustroHungarians, 6 nations in vanilla game
and with DLCs they added French and White and Red Russian, and 8 is a lot of nations depicted for a single World War game
For me it is super impactful and unique.
Show me a AAA FPS game set in WW2 that depicts US, UK, USSR, Germany, Italians, Poles, French, Norwegian and Japanese in a single game....
Anyway, it's not a rant of course, i know BF1 is full of inacuate stuff, i still love it and i still like the idea of mobile fast WW1
If you enjoy authentic/Realistic WW1 games y'all gotta try Verdun, Tannenberg and new game Isonzo, grrrreat games

That's what annoys me sometimes while I'm watching his content: He points out shit that could have a very good reason for why they went the way they did.
If he wants to make inaccuracy videos like this, he needs to overloook technical issues (Complaining about Sten reload just using same clip even though that's just him putting the FOV slider up too high), remembering context for certain "inaccuracies" beforehand (Maybe they couldn't render 200 different uniforms/faces cause PCs at the time might have trouble rendering them all) and he needs to stop looking at it from modern hindsight.

While you were right on the fact the game should include more common German tanks and Pz IV or V, the appearance of two Tiger tanks in the final mission was actually accurate in terms of deployment. Tigers were used in their own special battalions in concentrated numbers (45 tanks full strength). One platoon of Tigers would be 4 tanks and their smallest tactical unit size was a half-platoon (half-Zug) which was 2 Tigers exactly.
So yes, the player's final boss was a half-platoon from a Tiger battalion.

Ok, there are a ton of arbitrary “inaccuracies” in this video.
The defensive hand grenades that the Soviets use would absolutely be used by soldiers in both offensive and defensive operations if they were issued them. It’s the same reason why you see tons of ‘egg’ grenades that German soldiers have in photographs despite it being a defensive grenade.
The m43 uniforms would totally be accurate in Normandy in large numbers. The designation ‘M43’ is a collectors coined term and only reflected the timeframe in which they would have started to appear during the war as the German military never formalized numbering their uniform production until they created the ‘M44’ uniform known then as the ‘Feldbluse 1944’.
Also, greatcoats are totally accurate for June 1944 in France, there are tons of photos of Germans wearing them in POW pictures. The weather in Normandy was in the mid to upper 50s in June 1944…
I enjoy the content, but a lot of these inaccuracies aren’t exactly that well researched. Cheers

    1. Almost always set in late war
    2. If it is set early in the war, it is unwilling to commit, featuring plenty of late war equipment
    3. No featuring any countries aside from the big five, especially for the Axis

    • @alessandrospinello1433
      @alessandrospinello1433 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

The reason behind the first problem is simply that in the early years of WW2 Germany had the initiative and the Allies were getting beaten. Unless you create missions in which you are retreating and getting defeated (thus controlling units from France, Benelux, Scandinavia, Russians in the early months of Barbarossa, Yugoslavia, etc) the only way to portray 1939-1941 is to create a Nazi Germany campaign. Which for a big brand like Activision could be deemed as very very controversial, especially in these times...

Some of the inaccuracies I’d argue are from this game being made in the early/mid 2000’s when video games were just starting to take off in technology. Certain features such as deployable heavy machine guns by the player were not common practice at the time. Animations may look inaccurate from the display settings of monitors at the time. Keep in mind that COD at this time was not mainstream in popularity during this time period until they released MW4 in 2007. So I’d argue some sacrifices of accuracy had to be made to reuse models for time sake. If I recall correctly, this was the first time COD introduced the player carrying just two weapons instead of a whole 4-5 weapons at once. Taking cover to regain health was also a new system for COD in this game. Running was only in United Offensive but was blinded to the Alt button and was not seen until MW4. Just goes to show how far gaming has gone just from the past 20 years.

Im sure ive said this in a previous video.
    But i'll say it again.
I want a WW2 game that follows not an individual soldier, but rather a whole unit or multiple units through the war. I would prefer to see a German campaign where you can hear and see the way the war changed them. From optimistic during a Poland campaign, to cocky and feeling superhuman during France (for historical reasons 😉). To a paradrop mission for Norway, encircling of Dunkirk, fighting in North Africa, Greece, fighting through the whole of the Eastern Front (maybe a few missions apart of each Army Group?) instead of just Stalingrad. To then seeing desperation, the German army's struggle as they took loss after loss, falling back, holding back the D-Day landings only to not have the resources to keep fighting, using outdated weapons as new guns were scarce, young boys and old men filling out the ranks as the war went on, hearing and seeing the other Axis powers fighting and helping. To eventually as the Allies and Soviets reached Germany proper, the fear, loss, and fanaticism of the Germans to the bitter end.
I understand modern audiences will be in awe of playing a German soldier of WW2, but we need to see their side too, yes they were the bad guys and did atrocities, dont be allowed to commit any as apart of gameplay, but cutscenes implying something happened, or the final cutscene of the game now doing a retelling and the atrocities the Nazis commited, so much so many German soldiers didnt know of.
We can have missions like the Battle of Castle Itter, or various sides of German soldiers not being just stereotypical bad guys. World War II deserves to see all sides and points of view. It is what shaped the world today, and the more other sides are ignored, the more we dishonor those who perished and never saw the other side.

Man I remember when this game came out, and my PC could barely handle United Offensive at that time. This game compared to that looked like hyperrealism cranked up to 11.
Now looking at it, I had to stop the video and look at the title several times, because I was convinced that this was Call of Duty 1 based on the graphics.
It's crazy how time flies and how much you fail to recognize of it.

there is a historical inaccuracy that you missed, on the opel blitz trucks, there is a yellow triangle on top of the roof, this was used only for opel blitz's that where at the lead of a convoy, however in the game every single opel blitz truck has this triangle on their roof

Just recently left the 75th Ranger Regiment, 2nd Ranger Battalion
    Best job i ever had.
Also, E company of 2nd Ranger batt did in fact clear out bergsten village prior tot he assault
For anyone that doesn’t know the history of hill 400, I HIGHLY recommend reading it, absolutely wild and the real defense contains moments that people would scoff at for being too unbelievable if put in a movie.

I love your COD historical inaccuracies videos. And if I could suggest you some future video ideas. Instead of historical period COD games, maybe you can cover some inaccurate military gear usage in modern COD games (the original Modern Warfare series and even the rebooted MW ones too), because some weapons used in those games don't match up with their belligerents (Russian VDV troops using Tavors? Lol), and it's been driving me crazy for years! Thanks again, love your vids.

I have to say, in defense of this game, that Point du hoc missions very accurately represents the place.
I visited Point du hoc one summer many years ago and I was able to move around very easily thanks to the missions.

1:50 Also, as stated in the Vanguard video IIRC (maybe it was WAW? I don't recall), during World War II, pistols were held with one hand. Additionally, the "teacup pose" being used here is not recommended

With the fat germans it was trying to show how they got more desperate and started to conscript less healthy individuals. Notice in the missions that take place earlier there's no fat guys. Of course they went very overboard with the number of fat dudes but that was the intent. You can also notice more germans that look very young in the later missions to show the same thing.

There are no fat Germans _only_ in the Stalingrad levels. The Africa levels are full of them, and these missions take place as early as late 1942, not really a time when the German army was already "desperate". The German head models are also the same across the entire game, so I wonder where you get the idea that they look "younger" in the later levels, as they use the exact same models as in earlier levels.
