Great short video! Was just wondering of water therapy will enable roots to grow from an echeveria who is dehydrated and NO roots on them? Furthermore with a healthy stem is calloused already.
It has worked for some people. They encouraged root growth from water therapy. Although, I am not exactly a fan of water propagation. I found the roots to be weaker but that is just me.
Hi there.. We are just taking a short holiday break hence we haven’t posted videos in a while but I promise to talk about soil when we are back. Thanks. - Leslie
Hi there, I hope you kept those if they had been thrown out. they can be called head, crown, rosette, depending on the type and variety. they will definitely grow (unless rotted), just put them on top of a dry soil and do not water for about 2 weeks, the roots will grow from the part that is touching the soil. Hey, even just leaves grow into new plants! (just check this video out: th-cam.com/video/pD4NuSUjUag/w-d-xo.html). Hope this helps.
Hi there. Try to use fast-draining soil mix. You can find cactus mix in garden centre and that will be a good start. You can also try adding coco coir as they are good for growing baby roots..
Hi Jessica, it is a regular potting soil mix, with mixture of sand, perlite, some fertiliser and coco coir. The succulent cutting soil mix in garden centres also works well for leaf and stem propagation..;)
Hi Adena, we usually wait about 10-14 days before watering and then just introduce a bit of water then gradually increase the water quantity. In the approximate 2 weeks that we do not water the succulents cuttings, rest assured that they have enough nutrients and water stored in them. All the best!
Hi there. I know it can get overwhelming because there are a lot of methods and everyone shows how it works for them. Some say mist the soil, we do not water until there are roots while others do water propagation. And these are all true simply because of other factors too like the variety of succulents and its growth season, your location, your climate, the season when you are planting them. The idea is to use what will work best for you. try 3 cuttings and try to make them root in various ways. Then if all rooted, try to see which roots will give you strongest result/growth. After much research and study, the method in the video works best for us. Reasoning behind why we do not water is 1) the cuttings has no roots, there is nothing there to absorb it which is the role of the roots. 2) keeping cut stem wet just cause rot for the stem 3) the cutting itself has enough water and nutrients to support the plant until waiting for all the roots to shoot out. 4) we find this way grows stronger roots. Sorry this is long but hope that answers a bit. And yes, find what works best for you.. Enjoy the process..;)
Hi there, oh no. I habe not experience that before. Sometimes I would drop cuttings under a work table or under seat of the car and when I finally discover them, they have rooted but of course etiolated due to lack of sun. I have experience though that some types can grow roots slower than others. Sometimes, it could be months before roots come out.
It serves as a fungicide, protecting the cut from getting any unwanted disease from the soil which can be active due to the natural component of the soil. ☺️
Hi. The goal is to let the cut part dry out. The time they dry depends on factors such as how big is the stem, the weather where one is located, humidity in the area. This explains why you’ll hear different timeframe but as long as you let it dry, you are all good. Some people do not even let the stem callus but instead just use a completely dried out soil. Hope that explains it.. 😍
Hi there. Just use any fast-draining soil mix. We mix our own and we add some perlite, some sand, fertiliser etc. But if you go to a nursery or garden centre, a bag of cactus/succulent mix will be good.

I found some succulent parts thrown out of somebodys window and they do not have those ""stems"" idk how to call them, can they still grow?

Ok.. So do u put cinnamon on the cut end when it's dried out or B4?
Hi! It is best to apply the cinnamon after cutting when the “wound” is still fresh. This allows the cinnamon powder to stick in the cut area. 😊
@@SucculentSocial Thank You so very much for taking the time to answering my question!! I greatly appreciate it!!

I am so confused. Several sources say to keep soil moist but no standing water until they root.

What kind of succulent is this?
These are jelly beans. They are from genus Sedum but there are too many varieties similar to these that are also sedums.
My cuttings won’t root in shade, I have to put them under a grow light or else they won’t root.

Why do some people say let it callous for 24 hours and some 2-3 days? Which is it 🙃
