      @@Hyonyx Welcome to Australia, the Australian diet is cuisines from all around the world. Its what we get as a result of our fantastic multicultural society. We look at America and think OMG they still have segregated communities and bias against people of colour, such racism. Not only are they are gun toting society that routinely has mass murders to the point that children have to pass through airport style metal detectors to enter school, to the rest of the world, its Shocking and they are incredibly racist too, unfortunately we still have a little bit of racism here in Australia but its on a whole other level in the US, having said that I was saddened and surprised that when visiting relations in the UK, they were pretty against racist Pakistanis too.

      No we have a lot still, buddy. It's easier to see another country's racism because you haven't grown up with it. Americans and British coming here are shocked by the racism here too.
      Our multiculturalism is great but there's a lot of room for improvement and we are in no position to be pointing the finger on racism!

      Try this. Soak rice paper in water in 5 mins. Add a few drops of oil to that water. Meanwhile, stir fried some minced pork with onions and garlic, salt and pepper. Take the rice paper out, put cooked minced pork on, roll in into a log. Put in the microwave for 90 seconds. Enjoy with soy sauce + vinegar.

    Alex, just my opinion, instead of putting the rice paper between your towel to get rid of the wetness. You could just slightly shake it off the extra water, that works well too. Being Vietnamese , I grew up eating rice paper almost everyday and that how we do it. 😀However, your twist and turn using rice paper making many recipes are amazing . Thanks for showing us different ways of cooking with rice paper.

      Luc Lucas oriental has been classically used to reference either race or possessions for centuries. Same thing with American or persian. It’s only recently that a small group of people started going on some kind of rampage about oriental only being used for rugs and not people ... but if you pick up a book or read materials older than 30 years you’ll find that the word oriental is no different from European or Persian ... it can be used for both people or for things.

      Basically, those people with predominantly monolids and small eyes. Ya know, typically those people that, the rest of the world perceives as "Asian".
      (I don't mean to be racist. I know, not all orientals have monolids. Also, "Asians" is within quotes as, orients are not the only Asians. There also exist Indians, Ceylonese, Pakistani, Bangladeshis, Eastern Russians , Uzbeks and so on. )

    You say to use "bitten eggs"! That's not fair, poor eggs, I'm not biting them... ;D Sorry, could not resist, from one non-native English speaker to another... Great videos, thanks a lot! One of my real favorites these days, isrice paper bacon! I have the marinade sitting ready in the fridge for when I crave bacon, then it is so quick to make vegetarian bacon... YUM, it is soooo good, even meat eaters love it! :)

      @@eithnespain2347 did you use smoked-flavoured tofu? If you cut it up into thin strips and add smoked paprika, it would (kind of) ressemble smoked bacon bits.

    • @elizabetharrowood4015

      +Tiffany X cut the rice paper into bacon sized strips, dip the strips into a mixture of soy sauce, nutritional yeast, oil, and liquid smoke, with a bit of warm water (not hot), and pan fry in oil, but don't get it too crispy. If you over cook it the taste is off. Took me a few tries.

    Hi Alex, Dim Sum is the Cantonese word for "Dessert (點心)"! And the your pronunciation is correct!

    • @natnatung23
      @natnatung23 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I'm from Hong Kong and I'm pretty sure dim sum isn't exactly dessert. I'd say it's more like a snack, perhaps?

    • @Noxlicee
      @Noxlicee 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      it does not mean dessert.

    • @LittleAmyHe
      @LittleAmyHe 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It's so hard to describe what that word actually means. It can be dessert and it can be, well, "dim sum". But at the same time snacks is a different category. I think it's more like "tea food", kind of like how there's things known as "bar food". It's things that our culture deemed good to have with tea. Our savory and sweet "dim sum" is sort of like the equivalent of finger sandwiches and tiny desserts to English Afternoon Tea.

    Italians shouldn't be too pissed off, pasta is direct result of trade relations with China, after all :p

    • @woknmaki4885
      @woknmaki4885 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      L.K. Britton
      Actually not quite. New Archaeological research did found out that Italy already had pasta before trade relations with the east.
      It is possible that they come up with the Idea themselves, since many recipes actually predate 1298.
      The year where Marco Polo came back from his venture into the east.
      But China was first.

      They probably each invented it independently. Its just flour and water or egg with some salt, after all. Why should only one person think of it?
