Sir Tom Jones an absolute legend. His voice is better than never. Had U.K. hits in the 1960’s, 70’s and 80’s. Can still fill huge venues. He’s performed with everyone, Beatles, stones, James Brown, Elvis.
This song was actually a big come back hit for Tom and it did get played on the radio. Tom Jones is probably the only guy in his 70's that could pull off this song.
Sir Tom Jones has been a coach on "The Voice UK" for years, he is almost 80 and he still sings great, he does on the spot solos and he did one with Jennifer Hudson, she is also a coach, oustanding. He is a great coach, gives excellent advice, has a great ear for singers.
When this song came out in 2000, I spent that summer in Simferopol, Ukraine. It’s a decent sized city in the Crimean Peninsula. This song was played constantly on the radio and in the streets by merchants. The country was caught up in it for some reason. Anyway we flew out of there the adopted parents of my now adult son. This goofy song will forever be connected with that summer and the happiness it brought us.
Great reaction, Tom jones is fantastic singer and artist, The ladies loved Tom, good friends with Elvis Presley. You might like the song titled I who have nothing, 1967-68 Delilah
My God mother took me to see him when I was 16 and I seen Tom in concert in the 1980s! My Godmother threw her panties quite a few times since the 1960s until early 1990s! I got kisses from Tom, I was legal age then lol!! A huge sweetheart too, so nice! ❤
Miss Britt, believe me we know who Tom Jones is. This man has had more knickers thrown at him on stage than are in the entire Ann Summers lingerie catalogue. He's had more women than most Rockstars and these women end up walking away happy but wobbly! This man is not just a lifetime member of the Mile High Club, he is a first-time member of the Weightless Club! Meaning he did the deed in a Hercules transport diving at such a velocity he and she were rendered weightless!
I have two of his albums and saw him in concert in Reno, but I don't remember ever hearing this song! The women did go crazy during his concert and stage was full of panties, bras and room keys! Another vocalist you might enjoy is Michael Bolton--beautiful voice and another inductee to the "panty dropper club".
It actually worked for him when he was at his height. He was much younger then as were we all. Of course, all of the women in the audience at his shows (especially in the front rows) were there to get kissed as much as to hear him sing.
Tom Jones is the greatest coming from a 58 yr old straight male 9not just the women love him). Check his colaberation with the band "Art of Noise" and the somg "Tommy Gun". Or with "The Pretenders" with the song "Lust For Life". then near the end of his carreer his cover of the great Canadian poet and song writer/singer Lenard Cohen's great song "Tower Of Song".
Saw this man in concert 14 timew back in the day ... and yes , he was so sexy , with a voice that was , and still is , powerful and soulful ... oh, the dance moves made the women scream and the panties not only dropped , they were thrown on stage to him ! He was good friends with Elvis ... unfortunately , they never appeared together !
This was a Top 40 radio song. I was working radio at that time... always loved Tom's voice and his stage swagger. No controversy... it was just the way it was before the "Me too" movement. A lot of artists at that time (and before) would be considered controversial now.
*"Sex Bomb" is performed in collaboration with German DJ and record producer Mousse T., the song was released in 1999 in several European countries; in January of the following year, it was issued across the rest of Europe except the United Kingdom, where it was not released until May 2000. Outside the UK, the track served as the second single from Jones' 34th album, "Reload", while in the UK, it served as the fourth single. Commercially, "Sex Bomb" reached number one in France and Switzerland while becoming a top-three hit in Austria, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Spain, the United Kingdom, and Wallonia. The song's music video was directed by Barry Maguire. The Peppermint Disco Mix of the track contains a sample from "All American Girls" by Sister Sledge. A different version of the song appears on Mousse T.'s 2001 debut solo album, "Gourmet de Funk". "Sex Bomb" was written & composed by Mousse T. and Errol Rennalls. Mousse T. also produced the track.* ⬅🔥
this was very well received here in europe.. i remember seeing the video many many times on tv. seeing how i was already loving tom jones at the time, this was a no brainer when it came out. Chart (2000) Peak position Europe (Eurochart Hot 100): 1 France (SNEP): 1 Poland (Music & Media): 1 Switzerland (Schweizer Hitparade): 1 - Austria (IFPI Austria): Gold 25,000* Belgium (BEA): Gold 25,000* France (SNEP): Gold 250,000* Germany (BVMI): Gold 250,000^ Sweden (GLF): Gold 15,000^ Switzerland (IFPI Switzerland): Gold 25,000^ United Kingdom (BPI): Silver 200,000^
He is famous for breaking microphones with his voice. A lot of times condenser mics are set up for lazy singers who can't project, but this man can make himself heard on the other side of a stadium without a mic.
For anyone who loves Tom, there's a GORGEOUS live duet of this song with Tom and a German singer named: HELENE FISCHER ...on the Helene Fischer show. OhMyGosh, SOOOO GOOD!
Britt, Tom is a great live singer as you can see and he was about 60 here still with the huge voice...try some live songs from the 60's and 70's when he was at his super peak...BUT here still very strong. Too bad they cut this song off at the end...must be a problem with how the video was shot. You'd love the sudio version of this song to get the full song and the video with it is great.
I can remember when I was a medic back in the old days and bus loads of women came in for his concerts and the women in the buses were wild. Interesting fact though... Tom is a widower after being married to the same woman from the time they were 16 years old. Sometimes things aren't always what they seem and Tom retained the life style and reputation that contributed to him being knighted. That said the man sure knew how to sell an image.
Right on! I play the hell out of this song on my bass, so funky. My favorite song by Tom Jones, no doubt. This video is the nursing home version, though... this one is better: th-cam.com/video/WZ32gSLNHfA/w-d-xo.html . His cover of "KISS" th-cam.com/video/5uZQFOfMSfY/w-d-xo.html (with Art of Noise) is a must-see, also. Thanks, Britt!
CHECK OUT HIM AND HELEN FISHER ON STAGE DOING THIS SONG HE'S GRAY AND EVERYTHING BUT HE HAS NOT LOST NOT ONE NOTE OF THAT VOICE AND IT WASN'T THAT LONG AGO
Tom can get away with aHnything and i dont rem, ember this being controvercial at the time ..He is still there at 82 . You know he has done duets on his tv shows with so many great singers like Wison Pickett Stevie Wonder . Dolly Parton , Cher, The Supreemes . Dusty Springfield . The list is endless ,he also has respect for other singers and he shows it . Try reacting to DELILAH . You will be surprised . Thanks John Love you Britt
Wasnt controversial here in Sweden when it was released, as far as I remember. On the other hand, not being in swedish it might have gotten away with things other songs wouldn't have :)
I was born in '61 and grew up hearing all the whispers about a decade of 'free love'. By the time the '70s came along women had burned all their bras and hemlines kept getting higher. What a glorious time to be a teenage boy! Then came the '80s with the whole AIDs scare and it seemed like prudishness came back overnight. Things have continued to decline from there, and even though it's fashionable for women to wear lingerie in public nowadays, if you even look at a pretty woman, or dare say anything physically complimentary to her, you'll likely be branded a creep and risk a messy lawsuit!
Lets see, check out Tom's workts with other bands like "The Pretender" with the song "Lust for Life". Or with the band "Art Of Noise" and the song "Tommy Gun".
While the lyrics of this are pretty direct and unambiguous, it's surprisingly not vulgar. It doesn't go into descriptive anatomy or explicit references to sexual acts. It's got a driving beat and evocatively brazen horns without dropping into the stereotypes of porn. It's a bold statement, but not sleazy about the topic.
Wow your looking so awesome gererous today love your reaçtion too this song so awesome I enjoy all your youtube reaction your so awesome on it love it Britt.❤️❤️❤️🌹👍
"Was this radio friendly" Kiddo, it would blow your mind how free we were from the 60s through the 80s. It would be another reality to you. back then, the left and the right had their arguments , but we are a working class country and had thick skins because of it. We worked together and shared meals and holidays, and most us loved and defended freedom of speech and the right to disagree. So yeah, this song doesn't even come close to the hot and wild stuff that was regularly played on the radio. Donna Summer's "I love to love you baby" is another small example.
Haha he's a wild cat and I personally love this song but I think it bombed for me when a philipino permanent drag act sang it on bgt and really got simon scrathing his head and that walliams guy laughing.. I'm more of a this song set to a video montage of johnny depp kinda girl myself but whatever and yeah britt this song was definitely on the adult alternative charts and for good reasons😅..he wrote the manual to being a pdc member for future inductees lol..a classic singer indeed
Well Britt 1st off its so fun to see a young "gal" thats what we said back then gals , haha. To see you react to music that "chics" literally tossed panties on the stage at concerts to a man is kinda crazy. Tom Jones voice is litterally crazy fantastic. For an old man that is now 83. Ok not to be to creepy, but you have a panty dropping club PDC. All humor here. Are the panties heavier or lighter when ya drop them? Moisture carries weight. All fun here...
I guess YT no longer allows video replies - a World Champion and Olympic skater performed to this and its funny to hear the commentators laugh from embarassment😄☺
Britt it is called foreplay. From the break of dawn to sunset......we do what we do to show our wives who loves them. A hug, a pat on the cheek, it is what a real woman wants. I am 69 and I can still give it to my wife when it comes along. I wish you the same.
I could never get into Tom Jones. He was one of the long line of Elvis imitators. He tried too hard and thought he was sexier than he was. Elvis started the PDC. He had more underwear thrown at him in the 50's alone before Tom ever started singing. His voice wasn't bad, but he was no Elvis.😵💫
Y'all people take everything literally nowadays. "Like the way you fight" doesn't mean physical fighting, or domestic violence or some such thing, it means having some give and take and being actively involved in the act of making love, if the word "sex" is too much for ya. Uh, yeah this was fine for playing in any decade -- think about the Doors, "Come on baby light my fire," Marvin Gaye's "sexual healing," and just about every song ever written being about love and sex.
The lyrics of the songs sang by Tom, Frank Sinatra were similarly chauvinistic because indeed, they both literally dominated women by their mere presence. Its all rather run to listen to old blued songs sang by women and men, indicative of the common attitudes and not the music industry which in cahoots with radio stations conspired to limit the appeal of new artists. Whats New Pussycat has fun lyrics also.
Austin Powers indeed. I really didn’t like Tom Jones back in the day, because of this kind of cheesy arrogance. But he definitely had a great voice and soul. I like him much better now that he’s mellowed
Sir Tom Jones an absolute legend. His voice is better than never. Had U.K. hits in the 1960’s, 70’s and 80’s. Can still fill huge venues. He’s performed with everyone, Beatles, stones, James Brown, Elvis.
He was friends with Elvis, but I don't think they ever performed together.
@@jennyjorgensen9935 yes it’s more meeting people
In his studio musician days, Jimmy Page ( he went by James back then ) once played for him.
he is about 60 here. Starting in the 1960s, woman would crowd around the stage at his concerts and famously throw their underwear at him. For real
Yep he was in the Panty Dropping Club back then. For real.
One of the original PDC members 😂
I saw his interview on Top Gear where he said he hated that.
I saw him live last summer and they were still doing it and he’s in his 80s ha
This song was actually a big come back hit for Tom and it did get played on the radio. Tom Jones is probably the only guy in his 70's that could pull off this song.
Sir Tom Jones has been a coach on "The Voice UK" for years, he is almost 80 and he still sings great, he does on the spot solos and he did one with Jennifer Hudson, she is also a coach, oustanding. He is a great coach, gives excellent advice, has a great ear for singers.
He is actually 82, he will be 83 in June.
He's in his 80s and his voice still slays. He's also still a heartthrob ❤
@sexy monkey L.O.L. that you said that ? I could totally see that and surely arrogant.
You should react to Sir Tom Jones on the Voice UK singing with Jennifer Hudson It’s a man’s world. You won’t be disappointed
There is a TH-cam video of a Russian skater Evgeni Plushenko who used this song for a performance in 2002…was awesome!
I love this song...whether he was in his prime or 80 on the Voice. Heart throb..❤❤
Many women believed he was mullato because of his hair, how well he danced & because of his confidence
My God mother took me to see him when I was 16 and I seen Tom in concert in the 1980s! My Godmother threw her panties quite a few times since the 1960s until early 1990s! I got kisses from Tom, I was legal age then lol!! A huge sweetheart too, so nice! ❤

It still works for him.
I wouldn't have wanted to kiss him, but I am so spoiled because I got to kiss Elvis.
There's an excellent video of Evgeni Plushenko (figure skater) doing an hilarious routine to this song from 2001. You can find it here on TH-cam.
I was scrolling to see this comment. My favourite figure skating performance to watch.
I have been looking for any reactions of Plushenko sex bomb. I so want to see any faces to what routine!
Please watch Tom and Stevie Wonder doing a duo medley of their songs. Its incredible. Two legendary singers.
Tom Jones could be the founding member of the PDC......He definitely was the president of it for a lot of years😂

Tom had a cool part in "Mars Attacks". Was a movie.
This was a huge worldwide hit in 2000 but didn't do anything in the states. A few years later a re-mix got some play on the USA dance/club chart.
You have to watch Tom Jones - Kiss. It's a Cover from an Prince Original.

YOU HAVE GOT TO REACT TO HIM ON STAGE WITH HELEN FISHER DOING THIS SONG AND IT WASN'T THAT LONG AGO, HE AIN'T LOST NOTHING OF THAT VOICE STILL GOT IT
He is famous for breaking microphones with his voice. A lot of times condenser mics are set up for lazy singers who can't project, but this man can make himself heard on the other side of a stadium without a mic.
I love that he's in on the joke - he knows that it's a bit naff and cringe but he also knows that it works it's @$$ off.
For anyone who loves Tom, there's a GORGEOUS live duet of this song with Tom and a German singer named:

Another stellar reaction, Britt. 😊❤
Tom Jones and Stereophonics, Mama Told Me Not to Come - good tune
Love your reactions To Tom Jones and Elvis you have a Great taste in music
Need to watch the official video. Sir Tom...whew
He did a hysterical charity version of this "competing" with comedian Lenny Henry, wearing identical flashing electric cod-pieces!
Love Lenny Henry! ❤
Right on! I play the hell out of this song on my bass, so funky. My favorite song by Tom Jones, no doubt. The most controversial part if I remember correctly was "I can give it to ya anytime because you're mine".
Just laughing at this one by Tom Jones. The hook does get stuck in your head hours later though.
If you’ve not heard it or seen it hun Tom did a cover of Prince’s song Kiss with a band called The Art Of Noise! Worth checking out 😊
I never heard this one before ,thanks for sharing
CHECK OUT HIM AND HELEN FISHER ON STAGE DOING THIS SONG HE'S GRAY AND EVERYTHING BUT HE HAS NOT LOST NOT ONE NOTE OF THAT VOICE AND IT WASN'T THAT LONG AGO
He's still got it !!!!
Song came out in 2002. ❤
The thumbnail took me for a minute 😂
My guess this song were played on radio in most countrys... well maybe not US, Iran, Egypt, Irak and so on...
Tom can get away with aHnything and i dont rem, ember this being controvercial at the time ..He is still there at 82 . Technically, Tom would be the President of the PDC as women were known for throwing panties at him.
Tom is the bomb!
I never heard Tom Jones on the radio in Detroit. People just seemed to buy a lot of tapes and listened to him that way.
Look him up on TH-cam singing this song with Helene Fisher... When he's like 80 or 81... He's still got it🎉😊
Wasnt controversial here in Sweden when it was released, as far as I remember. On the other hand, not being in swedish it might have gotten away with things other songs wouldn't have :)
Yeah, Bobby Brown was a big hit in Sweden mostly because most people either didn't listen to the lyrics or didn't really understand them.
Come on Britt we need to see you do a rendition of this 😂😂
I just love the way he sings about sex and makes fun and so so so inviting 🤣🤣🤣
It wasn't controversial because it was expected of Tom to be raunchy and in the nineties, people weren't the prudish over sensitives they are today
It was radio friendly in Australia, probably not in the prudish US of A.
Lets see, check out Tom's workts with other bands like "The Pretender" with the song "Lust for Life". Or with the band "Art Of Noise" and the song "Tommy Gun".
Interesting fact about Sir Tom was he was married for decades to the same lady but admitted to having hundreds of one night stands!
Great Reaction 👍🙏👣
Wow your looking so awesome gererous today love your reaçtion too this song so awesome I enjoy all your youtube reaction your so awesome on it love it Britt.❤️❤️❤️🌹👍
OMG, there’s so much young TJ out there.
can't wait to hear your review of this one.
PDC CLUB!
Not only was in the PDC, it was well known that he was in the BDE club, too.
This song was written by Prince.
0:20 Oh no Tom
0:23 Oh Yeah!
Brit " fight" is a clean way of saying he's gonna like the way she um yeah haha 😅it's a metaphor for spicy relations 😂
Tom Jones was nearly 70 when he recorded this!!
Not controversial because the lyrics are open to interpretation. I think we are less prudish in Europe and the UK!
Check out Tom and Janis Joplin RAISE YOUR HAND
"Was this radio friendly" Kiddo, it would blow your mind how free we were from the 60s through the 80s.
I guess YT no longer allows video replies - a World Champion and Olympic skater performed to this and its funny to hear the commentators laugh from embarassment😄☺
Britt, for starters: Thought you were British (some time ago) guess it's obvious why Tom & Elvis became such good friends 🙉🙈🙊
There was a Russian male figure skater who performed to this, it is an amazing performance.
Ha ha love it
This was not controversial, it was released in 1999 about 10 years after Tom's comeback
Britt it is called foreplay. From the break of dawn to sunset......we do what we do to show our wives who loves them. A hug, a pat on the cheek, it is what a real woman wants. I am 69 and I can still give it to my wife when it comes along. I wish you the same.
Check out Tom Jones version of Prince's "Kiss".... ;)
Tom and Elvis were very good friends...
Listen toTom Jones perform Prince's 'Kiss'
BRIT! You must do I Who Have Nothing!
A *member* of the PDC? My friend, he's the Founding member 😂
This is nothing compared to having Chuck Berry's Song: My Ding a ling was played on the radio in 1972
I could never get into Tom Jones. He was one of the long line of Elvis imitators. He tried too hard and thought he was sexier than he was. Elvis started the PDC. He had more underwear thrown at him in the 50's alone before Tom ever started singing. His voice wasn't bad, but he was no Elvis.😵💫
I had no business singing this at 9 years old ga

I know Tom is a founding member of the PDC, but he never did it for me. ha ha ha
You should do the reaction to Tom Jones original video to this song. It's a 1000 times better and I would love to see your reaction.

Love your reaction! You looked very turned on
Well, if we're going to revisit the PDC, let me suggest the Righteous Brothers...
'I Just Want to Make Love to You'.
she's already covered this one :)
Austin Powers indeed. I really didn’t like Tom Jones back in the day, because of this kind of cheesy arrogance. But he definitely had a great voice and soul. I like him much better now that he’s mellowed

this song litterly stands for how straight forwart guys a, well Guys would say Simple mindet lol
