The original video of him doing this in 1967 is even better. That one will definitely put him in the PDC. His vocal range was even more impressive back then. That's why he was called The Welsh Wailer. They threw panties and room keys.
Yes, truly wish she had chosen one of those early vids to react to. Although this is one I hadn't seen. The hard tremolo surprised me. I prefer the earlier one. But that's just me. We all have opinions of greatness. As we say here in Texas; Y'all be safe.
From the 60s until now, Tom Jones was the original panty dropper, and he's been a coach on The Voice UK ever since. This version has a few more instruments and his voice is at 75%, but there's a version from the 60s where he sings it in a studio, and it's filled with emotion like it's from his life.😘
The 60s version is a live performance from a TV show with a studio audience. Most have reacted to that one, yes. In fact, this is the first reaction I have viewed other than that one. Also, for those too young to know, Tom Jones had his own TV show that was broadcast in the USA. Lots of performances to pull from that as well. Had to add this on edit...thank u. Thank you for doing this version. Much more maturity to his voice obviously but still...those textures. Very very nice. Mark
@@weldonbailey1005 Glad to see this had been edited as I was replying to your original post that made you look a bit stilly about my playlists etc.Be good and always think before you write as it saves you an edit and coming over as a plonker 👍
Tom was the ORIGINAL member, founder and president of the Panty Dropper Club. He was 67 years old for this performance - amazing. Now 82 and still sounds like this. Now you need to hear his contemporary with a similar soaring, clear, soulful voice - Englebert Humperdinck. They came on scene around the same time in the 60s. He will blow you away too. Start with Release Me, his first big hit, and Man Without Love and Winter World Of Love.
Britt, you are killing me … with your ongoing discovery of these unforgettable performers, who enjoyed accolades way before your time. There were so my many incredible singers in the 60s and 70s, who were never replaced by auto tune performers! Britt, your are killing me … with your charisma, charm, humor and great looks! You are!!
Tom Jones was (I think) the first concert where women threw their panties on stage. Copacabana in 1968. Originally, they were throwing napkins (he was sweating) but one woman went a step further. He wiped his brow and threw it back, saying, 'Watch you don't catch cold!' He's done R&B, pop, country, show tunes, gospel. Some famous songs are It's Not Unusual, What's new, pussycat?, Green, Green Grass of Home, Delilah, She's a Lady. He got married at 16 (1957), and stayed married until she died like 5 years ago.
My wife and I saw him in Tahoe in 1973. He performed over 30 songs for 2 hours with that full throated dynamic voice of his, and yes, at the end, the women were literally throwing their panties and bras onto the stage at the end. He began with a string of hits in the mid sixties and has never looked back. His 1967 performance of this song, when he was a young man is incredible. Another big hit of his is Delilah.
Tom Jones is a Welsh singer who has one of the smoothest powerful voices around. And he was a showman too, in fact he was a big heart-throb with the ladies. He has so many hits such as "Delilah", "It's Not Unusual", "What's New Pussycat?", "Green, Green Grass of Home", "She's a Lady". He covers a lot of genres. He is still performing & is a coach on "The Voice" UK version. He also had a variety show from 69 - 71 & had some of the biggest music stars at the time.
Tom was 65 when he performed here, he is 82 and still performing now. When he first sung this in1967 he absolutely nailed it. He was great friends with Elvis Presley, they would often sing together. Anybody who was anybody appeared on The Tom Jones show in the US. I believe Stevie Wonder send him a happy birthday video message when he was 80. He just knows everybody in the Music Industry.
BRITT, please play TOM JONES' biggest dance hits, starting with: 1) "TREAT HER RIGHT" performance of "Treat Her Right - This is Tom Jones TV Show" , 2) Music Video of "KISS" , Tom Jones version of "KISS" by Prince., 3) "LOVE MACHINE" - "Tom Jones, Love Machine (Live at The Midnight Special)", 4) 'WHAT'S NEW PUSSYCAT" performance "Tom Jones - What's New Pussycat" (Tom is wearing a black sequence jacket). The list goes on, but these are nice starters for seeing Tom Jones really perform!!
Welshmen sing coming out of the womb. This song was written by Lonnie Donnegan. A few years ago Lonnie's son appeared on The Voice UK. as a contestant. As luck would have it Tom (a coach) turned for him. When he found out it was Lonnie's son he asked him to sing this song with him. Tom at near 80 still has some pipes on him. There wasn't a dry eye in the house.
You must watch these Live Shows: - Rage Against the Machine in London - Bruce Springsteen in Spain - Queen (Magic Tour Wembley) - Peter Gabriel (US / UP live) - Kings of Leon O2 Arena - Elton John Mary J Blige Duet - George Harrison Tribute Show - AC/DC Live (Any South American Country) - Hootie and the Blowfish “Let Her Cry” Live - Dave Matthews Band “Crash Into Me” Live
Tom Jones has pretty much been a member of the PDC since the 60's/70's. Check out IT'S NOT UNUSUAL and WHAT'S NEW PUSSYCAT? He's always been a chick-magnet!
Tom is now 83, still singing and a coach on The Voice UK. He has always been a looker and a ladies man. He was married to his wife Linda for 59 years before she died. He admits he hurt her more than once with flings he had but she always forgave him and loved him in spite of his infidelities.
Tom Jones was THE FOUNDING MEMBER of the PDC. Check out his performance of this song from 1967 when he was at his peak. He still sings at 83 years old and sounds incredible.
I was one of the lucky ladies who saw Tom back in the 70's live. Yes there were plenty of bras and panties flying on stage. I had a blast ,He is a great performer and that voice..Love seeing your reaction to these videos.
Listen to Tom Jones on the Voice, you'll not be disappointed. I think he was in his 80's. By the way it was Sir Tom, he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 2006.
Hi Britt, Yes, you are correct, he's been a "panty-dropping" singer & performer throughout his extensive career!!! You are hearing him during the latter part of his journey!!! Check out his version of this song back in 1967 in a black & white video!!!
Hey Britt I agree with everyone that his version back in 67 was the definitive one but also when he sang the song on UK the Voice with the composer's son Peter Donnegan was a very special TV moment. I live just 20 miles from his hometown of Pontypridd
1967 original video of Tom singing this song is the best. Lonny Donegan wrote this song. A few years ago Tom sang this song with Lonny's son Peter at Peter's audition on The Voice. Sir Tom Jones is one of the coaches on the show. After Pete's audition Tom was talking to him and discovered he was Lonny's son. Tom asked him to sing "I'll Never Fall in Love Gain" with him. It was an impromptu moment that was extraordinary.. It brought a year to Tom's eye. You might also enjoy an impromptu duet between Tom and Jennifer Hudson , who is also on the show. They sang "It's a Man's World" (James Brown song). Tom's voice is just as incredible now (in his 80's) as it was when he was young.
You really need to see the 1st video done in mid sixties. He is in his early 80's. He DID have a show and yes, panties were thrown! He's a judge for "The Voice UK now.
You have GOT to watch Tom Jones Treat Her Right on the show he had - the Player he was is proven repetitively & he DANCES like a wild man! Its Amazing Fun & Hilarious!!! And I agree with the below comments - the first recording of this in black & white is STUNNING. He is great here but is Exceptional in that one and it will knock your socks & panties off! Lol
You should listen to him singing the original when he was young . This man has vocals you wont believe. This is the great S[R TOM JONES . hE IS 82 and still singing he is from WALES in the uk . When he became famous he had his own tv show in America . Aother great song you might want to hear is DELILAH it shows the real power of his voice . Elis Presley became great friends with him . Thts version of the song does not show how poweful his voice is also they have slowed it down . He os also on the panel of the uk talent show called the voice , Glad you finaly hit on Sit Tom Jones
Tom Jones was in every adult woman's PDC in the 60s and part of the 70s. I remember my mom and aunts loved him. If he performed on TV they were glued to the screen.
Please, please listen to the 1967 live version, Tom Jones just didn't have the undies dropping, ladies actually threw their underwear on the stage. Here's another fact, black folks heard Sir Tom Jones sing over the airwaves, but in 1968 my people clapped when they heard his name announced
I once sang his 'What's New Pussycat' at karaoke and the owner's gorgeous niece slinked her way to the front of the room from the very back. I do so love audience participation (within reason, and propriety, of course). 😘👍🎶💃❤️🕊 Watch for him in the Tim Burton movie 'Mars Attacks', toward the end. It's a fun extended cameo alongside Danny Devito and whoever else is left to do battle at that point. Clips from his TV show with guests like Janis Joplin, Joe Cocker and Stevie Wonder are also well worth watching, like the '67 version of this song everyone has already mentioned. 😀
Hey beautiful, yes indeed he was a real panty dropper. My sisters could not get enough of this man. Good to see he still has that effect on the beautiful ladies today.
His first hit in the 60's was my favorite, It's Not Unusual. He and Elvis were friends. Women went wild, the looks, tight pants, the dance moves and that booming voice. Women tossed their panties at his shows. He's 83 and starting a new tour. Best of luck, Sir Tom Jones, he's Welch.
He’s better at about 81-82 yrs old on The Voice! Singing it with a contestant, who was the son of the man who wrote this ding for Tom. (Lonny Donnegan, himself a famous musician)
He did NOT write this song for him. I spoke to Lonnie's son on You Tube, who confirmed that. Sir Tom DID make it his own it's true but this was written in 1961 when Tom Woodward was singing with The Tommy Scott Orchestra in the Clubs in Wales. Tom Jones(nee Woodward) was not known until 1963/1964:)
Oh my soul, Tom was told by his vocal coach back in the 60's that he would lose his voice if he kept singing(sanging) the way that he did back then. This version, as masterful as it is, still shows his great technique, but it also is clean it took a toll on his vocal cords. This and the 1967 version of this song are great demonstrations why is an ideal Judge on "The Voice" talent show. He doesn't just sing a song, he makes you feel it and live it.
Just yesterday I posted that there is no true PDC without this man. Glad to see you decided to check him out. Yes, panties would be thrown on stage while he performed but they also threw hotel room keys. Be sure to keep your eyes on the comments because he's been known to respond to reaction videos.
In your reaction to Elvis - Suspicious Minds, you said everyone in the audience got pregnant just watching. Now you have to watch Tom Jones doing “Treat Her Right” (live on his variety show from the late ‘60’s) to witness when EVERYBODY in the audience, watching on tv at home and aliens in outer space got pregnant 😂😂😂!!! Shew, talk about somebody aware of his effect on others, he knew….oh yes he knew. The rascal.
Legendary British singer Lonnie Donegan wrote this for Tom. Recently on an Episode of The Voice UK Lonnie's son was auditioning. Sadly he did not get a chair turn however once Sir Tom realised he was Lonnie's son he asked him to play the song and Sir Tom sang it live with him to the delight of all the other judges.
It's actually Sir Tom Jones as he was knighted by the Queen of England. He was in his prime during the Elvis era ( in fact, he and Elvis were good friends). He was the lady's man If you want to see him in his prime and driving women wild watch "Treat Her Right" You will want to make him president of the PDC
Another artist you might like is Engelbert Humperdinck, he is from the ear of Tom Jones and Elvis Presley and is known as the king of the romantic ballads. His song a man without love is worth a listen, he has a catalogue of beautiful songs❤️❤️❤️
I saw your reaction to Dire Straits, and now Tom Jones…for some fun, try the live version of Feel Like Going Home. Tom Jones singing and a tune Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits) covered (one of the few he didn’t write) with a second group he fronted called the Notting Hillbillies. It was a song Tom and Mark did together live on Tom’s television show in the mid-90s, and the performance is a thing of beauty. 😁
SO COOL you discovered Sir Tom (yes he is Knight'ed) please react to the 1967 stage version so you can see the early power vs later soul/smoothness THEN cover same early stage version of "She's a Lady" rest up/buckle in 'cause if you think that song was "panty dropper club" worthy... girl.... you in for a TREAT
Sir Tom Jones is the head judge on the UK version of The Voice. He's over 80 and still singing. For many years he had a residency in Las Vegas. A genuine legend. Pure talent from the coal-mining region of Wales. You're right about the pantie-throwing...but Tom was married to the same woman for over 50 years, until her death.
@Brittreacts you need to watch him on the voice as he's older singing this with a contestant whose father had something to do with the original version of the song
TOM Jones is one of my all time favorites my dad loved his music , I agree please check out the original video from 1967, and please go down the rabbit hole with Tom you won’t be sorry . Good vibes and much love love all your reacts Britt.
Am so glad I join your youtube channel love how you react and even singing the song wow you have an awesome voice yourself too.❤️👍
thank you so much! I'm glad you are enjoying the videos. Have the day you deserve!!
I like the 1967 video better. He really belts this song out on that one.
That's the one! Only 27 in that video...a powerhouse!
Another example where “newer” ≠ better.
Me too!
I agree 100% 👍🙏👣
Yes check out the 1967 version of this song. And check out It's Not Unusual, Delilah, What's New Pussycat?, Prince's version of Kiss.

why this one . please do the 1968 version
@@nidiavargas-vb3fc Yep, that'll do.
@@nidiavargas-vb3fc: Damn Right. Good call.
The 1967 version is the gold standard for this song. Can’t be beat!
Es solo cuestión de gustos! Existe una versión que hizo hace un par de años solo con acompañamiento de piano que es simplemente, ESTREMECEDORA!

Darealdeal
No computer, auto tune, etc. help. either!! Pure talent and hard work.
Just yesterday I posted that there is no true PDC without this man. Glad to see you decided to check him out.
Yes, panties would be thrown on stage while he performed but they also threw hotel room keys.
Be sure to keep your eyes on the comments because he's been known to respond to reaction videos.
I recently found your reactions, love it!!
I just love your reactions. You're awesome Britt!
The rascal.
Sir Tom Jones is now in his 80s and still has the vocals. Amazing!
I’ll sing like that to you everyday 😊❤
I have many reasons to be proud of being Welsh, British, having Tom Jones as a fellow countryman is one of them!!
He literally WAS! Check his video live songbook! He was THE KING of that no doubt!
You have to listen to him sing I who have nothing from his 1970 show.. amazing
First time seeing this video. Amazing performance 40 years after the original
Tom is like 82 years old now... Check him out on The Voice as a judge... He sings some songs and he does duets on the show... You will ❤ it
Tom and Elvis were friends at one time
And he's still got every bit of that charisma when he sings at 82
SO COOL you discovered Sir Tom (yes he is Knight'ed) please react to the 1967 stage version so you can see the early power vs later soul/smoothness
THEN
cover same early stage version of "She's a Lady"
rest up/buckle in 'cause if you think that song was "panty dropper club" worthy... girl.... you in for a TREAT
You and your channel are amazing!! Both beautiful... keep up the great work... Thank you
Sir Tom Jones is the head judge on the UK version of The Voice. He's over 80 and still singing. For many years he had a residency in Las Vegas. A genuine legend. Pure talent from the coal-mining region of Wales. You're right about the pantie-throwing...but Tom was married to the same woman for over 50 years, until her death.
Yes 1967 is a must
@Brittreacts you need to watch him on the voice as he's older singing this with a contestant whose father had something to do with the original version of the song
TOM Jones is one of my all time favorites my dad loved his music , I agree please check out the original video from 1967, and please go down the rabbit hole with Tom you won’t be sorry . Good vibes and much love love all your reacts Britt.
Tom is around 83 now and still sounds awesome! Please check out his amazing 1967 performance. You'll be glad you did.
He is 80 now and still has this voice
Tom Jones is still hot today!
Check out the late 60's tv show where he did a version of this song...so awesome.
